  • "A lovely bolt hole in a lovely setting, we had a great week"

  • "We absolutely loved this property, clean, comfortable, warm, cosy, bight and very romantic even with the dogs."

The lanes were easy to walk along down to Porthleven and it's a great base for visiting the south coast of Cornwall. We wanted for nothing, thank you so much for the welcome pack. I think we both agreed the only thing that could possibly improve it would be some sort of string lighting outside, plugged in type. It got very dark, very quickly and would have been nice to be able to see the lovely border you've planted. We'll absolutely come back here.

  • "Lovely place, clean, stylish and modern while also feeling cozy and welcoming."

Lots of thoughtful little details and all essentials provided, including nice toiletries, dish washer tabs, fire wood etc. Fresh eggs from resident hens! The property is secluded and private, the owners are nearby if needed, but clever planting means it doesn’t feel overlooked at all. Surrounded by countryside, amazing skies on a clear night! Slept very well in the comfortable bed. Wish we could have stayed longer.

  • "Great cabin, nice location and facilities."

Only problem was that the bed was a bit creaky which made it a little harder to sleep. The dog was happy, he often barks at random noises but it was quiet enough here he just slept! The small private garden being enclosed was really useful for him too.

  • "We loved the accommodation it was very good."

It took us a while to navigate the lanes as there are no signs with names on them. We also found a lot of the places we wanted to visit were closer than we expected overall very happy.

A super clean, cozy and well looked after property. We arrived to a cornish cream tea left for us which was a lovely touch. We particularly liked the thought that had gone into furnishing the property with a love of nearby Porthleven. We loved soaking up the sun on the patio after exploring the coastline which is only 5 minutes drive away. Would highly recommend a stay here!

Also we were disappointed to find that the toilet had been used and not flushed. There was a sign saying enjoy the gift of our eggs but there were none to be found! However we did enjoy the scones, beer, cider and on the whole our stay. PS. Hooks for dressing gowns would be nice.

  • "What can I say, just "wow"!"

This place is incredible, such an eye for detail has gone in to, fantastic furnishings, bathroom and kitchen. The property is in the garden of the owners, but we didn't actually meet them once so felt very private. The hedge between the cottage and their garden has grown high enough now to provide privacy from their garden, but still lets plenty sun onto the patio. The garden is completely fenced/gated so doors can be opened up and the dog could roam free, there is a small lawn area for doggy toileting and washing line. Lots of interesting tropical plants and a full herb bed for seasoning dinner and the BBQ! The cottage is very well insulated so it can get quite warm when the sun gets on it, we tried to shut curtains when we went out to keep it at bay, but you can open massive wide doors and windows when you can back to cool it down quickly. I would recommend a top sheet is provided for the bed as the duvet was very thick and so too hot, we always travel with our own, but would be a nice touch. The water pressure is also quite slow in the shower. In terms of location, it is perfect, set in farmland away from town it's so quiet and peaceful, but only a 5-10 min drive to Porthleven and and Highburrow cliff path. Also ideal location for Lands End and Lizard penninsula. We managed to find plentry of 'secret' beaches no one else was on, even in amazing warm weather, and lots of vegan food (including numerous places selling vegan ice cream for our lactose intolerant doggy, she was beyond happy!) 10 min drive to supermarket in Helston if needed.

Welcomed with a delicious cream tea, flowers and cold drinks in the fridge. Jake a very friendly and helpful host. The garden is slightly smaller than the pictures show, the outside shower was very useful for hosing down feet and sandy dogs. It is tastefully decorated and it's obvious the owners care. The garden around the property is small but adequate for us, plus we have two dogs and it worked well, fields easily accessible directly from the property. It is quiet and you are not overlooked in any way. I'm sure there is more positives to add but can't think immediately of all the things I loved about it. It was one of the best places we have stayed. The location whether driving or walking is ideal, its a 20-30 min walk into Porthleven, 15-20 min walk to Penrose estate (beautiful National Trust with great dog walks and access to Loe Pool and Loe Bar), 5 min drive into Porthleven (don't be surprised if you can't park in the town) but be prepared to park on the outskirts and walk in. Coastal paths accessible from there also. The town has everything you need and restaurants (good idea to book, they are excellent and popular) and shops allow dogs, which is a big deal, trust me. About the location

PORTHLEVEN

Helston 3 miles; Penzance 10 miles; Hayle 11 miles; St. Ives 17 miles; Falmouth 17.5 miles.

Porthleven is one of south west Cornwall’s hidden, coastal gems, located near Helston, famous for it's annual Flora Dance Festival. Situated between Lizard Point and Land’s End, Porthleven retains the feel of a traditional Cornish fishing village, enjoying uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful Cornish coastline. The iconic clock tower sits on the harbour entrance and the pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants cluster around the historic picturesque inner harbour, where there is plenty of boating and marine activity. With a warren of streets lined with classic Cornish, granite cottages, an extensive beach manned with lifeguards, the chance for alfresco dining in one of a number of well reviewed restaurants, and crabbing off the harbour, there are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, all year round. Porthleven is building a reputation for eating out with a popular food festival established in the spring. Out of season, Porthleven has one of the best surf breaks in the country where you can sit down and get lost for hours watching the energetic surfers riding the waves. There are some fabulous hidden coves along this stretch of coastline, including Praa Sands, Poldhu Cove, and Rinsey, a magical setting for the more energetic. You may have even seen pictures of Porthleven on television, being one of the best spots in the UK for storm watching, with the crashing winter waves often being used as the backdrop to weather forecasts. Walkers will enjoy the South West Coast Path, adventuring west past Rinsey Head with spectacular views, or south across Loe Bar to Penrose Estate with it's National Trust cafe, and on to Gunwalloe Church Cove. Take a trip to the Isles of Scilly by boat or plane and marvel at the display of sub-tropical gardens at the stunning Tresco Abbey. The Eden Project near St. Austell offers an interesting day out. Porthleven is the ideal base for discovering the delights of west Cornwall and the Lizard Peninsula.
