"We chose the Hideaway for our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect!"
We were looking for something special and luxurious and we definitely got that. The owner, Tara, was lovely, very friendly and her relaxed manor made us feel very relaxed too. We were also provided with some very lovely extra touches which really completed the special feel of the holiday. We took our two young dogs which were also made to feel very welcome and were allowed free range of the garden, which they loved. The property was in the perfect location to discover different areas of Cornwall, perfect for our first time visit here. There were good local amenities within a short drive from the property and the local pub served delicious food. We would definitely recommend the Hideaway and look forward to visiting again.

Our dogs loved the garden and the pond! Wonderful welcome hamper which was enjoyed immensely along with surprise bottle of bubbly in the fridge, lovely addition.
Very well equipped house. Instructions for appliances available and easy to follow. Bed really comfy. Loved the Nespresso machine.
Would definitely recommend.

"Absolutely fantastic break."
Everything was spotless and to our taste. Beautiful building and location. Lovely gardens with perfect silence other than the wildlife. We really appreciated the welcome hamper and the champagne too.
We hope to book again soon and we would highly recommend to couples after a secret escape.

"1. Whilst there was a dishwasher it’s purpose was largely redundant given the limited amount of crockery and cutlery."
For example, there were only two tea mugs. We would have preferred to spend less time washing up but it was not possible to fill the dishwasher. 2. The outside lighting was very poor. We arrived in the dark and could barely see the outside steps. It is a potential accident waiting to happen. 3. It was difficult to locate the property in the dark as there was no sign outside to identify it. 4. It would have been useful if plug adapters had been provided. 5. The information pack in the apartment is out of date. For example, it recommends a restaurant which went out of business two years ago; there was no torch in the drawer. 6. Given that we paid five star prices we expected five star provisions. 7. The bed was very comfortable. 8. The apartment was located in a very quiet area which we enjoyed. 9. Alexa and the smart TVs were good. 10. The fridge freezer was good. 11. Good quality bed linen and towels were provided. Overall, we would recommend staying at the apartment. If the owner makes the suggested improvements it will be even better!
1. When we first encountered the pandemic we were instructed to remove as much of the potential material that could harbour the virus and this resulted in us reducing cutlery and crockery to the bare minimum. We also removed all books and a lot of the soft furnishings in accordance with the guidelines.
Since then there has been no further instruction or suggestion to go back to the original stock levels of soft furnishings crockery cutlery et cetera however we have decided to replace the crockery and I’ve just purchased a new set of Dartington fine bone china of which there are four items of dinner plates side plates cereal bowls and pasta bowls. The cutlery has also been increased in number to 4 of each item and also the tea mugs.
2. The outside lighting unfortunately was not working over the steps we have upgraded the light fittings to more powerful ones in this area and also over the door in order that it makes it easier to see the numbers on the key safe.
3. We do not have a sign outside the property that is correct however usually the welcome email contains enough information to guide you into the drive and as far as the door to The Hideaway.
4. We do not understand what is meant by plug adapters. There are plenty of double 13 amp sockets in this property.
5. I have today updated the information in the welcome pack, yes absolutely right Jamie Oliver’s restaurant 15 has gone out of business. Thank you for pointing this out as there are some other details that are now out of date. I’ve also replaced the torch and placed it in the cutlery drawer underneath the draining board, this has gone missing for some reason and it is now on the housekeeper’s inventory check list.
6. We are confused by your comment of we expect five star provisions. We do provide a hamper for our guests which comprises of many items of Cornish produce including jam, chutney, biscuits, pilchards, scones, clotted cream, chocolate and tea. We also provide coffee pods for the coffee machine and simple things like sugar, salt and pepper. In the case of this guest and considering the time of year we also provided a bottle of Veuve Clicquot a pair of nice crystal champagne flutes as a gift and an Hotel Chocolat gift pack to help with the New Year celebration.
7/8/9/10 and 11. Thank you for your comments, we pride ourselves on providing as much comfort as possible for our guests.

"I will never book with Sykes cottages again because I think you were extremely greedy by charging me on three occasions a booking free of over a hundred pounds."
The booking amounted to nearly half again of the original cost of the let.
We loved the cottage and the owners were lovely.
In future I will look elsewhere.

Hideaway was spotlessly clean, even to the high ceilings (no bugs)!
Super comfortable bed and bedding, tastefully decorated and smart furnishings throughout.
A beautiful garden and pond right outside the door and it’s just so tranquil.
The owners have put lots of love and care into this holiday home and it’s a true delight!

"A delightful property which could not be better equipped."
Friendly and helpful owners live on site. Recently refurbished kitchen and lounge. Not so sure about the square plates! Owners go the extra mile including a welcome pack for the dogs in addition to the champagne cream tea and cornish produce hamper. Lovely grounds. My only reservation (which is not under the control of the owners) is that it is accessed by a single track lane with very few passing places, you need to be good at reversing!!

"Lovely little cottage - it is down an unmade road surrounded by farmland- it is attached to other residences."
Would benefit from having its own washer/dryer instead of sharing facilities with the owner.
As it is a barn conversion it is open plan so that when you are on the upstairs level you can see over to the ground floor. It is very well placed for exploring Cornwall
** Thank you for your valued feedback. We have been waiting for the opportunity for a break in bookings and have now installed a super new kitchen with the latest appliances, american style fridge freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, linear hob, we would love to welcome you back to experience the new look and increased amenity. "When we arrived we were instantly taken by the surroundings."
We recognised the beautiful cottage from the road by its tall window, and as we drew onto the drive it was obvious that the pictures we had seen had done true justice to this property. But the real wow factor was when we opened the door and stepped in, my gosh, what a beautiful place. Words fail us, it is more beautiful than the pictures dictate. We were greeted with a lovely array of local goodies and a nice bottle of champagne. The owners of this property certainly put a lot of effort into ensuring you feel relaxed and comfortable, we would highly reccomend this place and will say thank you to Phil and Tara for providing such a wonderfully friendly welcome and holiday.

"We felt that the name "Hideaway" was a bit of a misnomer."
What we were perhaps given to believe was that the property was completely on it's own, with no other people anywhere close by. In fact all was communal outside with some building works ongoing. Perhaps we expected too much.
Otherwise everything was absolutely beautiful, the living space wonderfully done, absolutely everything we needed (except a butter knife........), the welcome pack generous and much needed after a long journey there. A lovely location. The local pub served some of the best food we had, and the local shop handy, but more than - 1 mile away, in a car.
In all we, and our dog did enjoy our stay at the Hideaway despite being surrounded....
Oh, perhaps the house name should be outside, on the lane ~ difficult to find in the dark.
