  • "This property is in an excellent position for the town ,with easy access to the shops, restaurants."

Having the private parking is an additional bonus. The property is generally very comfortable and has most things , but could do with some more mugs or cups .The showerhead in the upstairs bedroom is dripping all day and night thus the floor gets wet,as the seal on the shower door does no fit. Also the shower door in the front bathroom does not . We did have no heating for the 1st weekend we were there ,but this was out right by the company on the Monday.

Thank you for your feedback. We have reported ther issues you have flagged and will have these rectified. We hope you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back again soon. Property Owner

It may have been a slight oversize but a few sinks hadn’t been cleaned and toothbrush cup was full of toothpaste from the last guests , this may worry some people with covid worries over a deep clean Lovely place to stay though , will hopefully be back

Many thanks for your feedback. The cleanliness issues have been brought to the attention of the housekeeping team to ensure we retain the high level of cleanliness we strive for. We would love to see you return in the future. Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "We found the property to be generally very comfortable and well equipped."

It was in a perfect position for the type of break we had in mind, very close to the High Street but also on a network of footpaths which enabled us to explore the area without necessarily touching on the busy tourist spots. The private parking was very useful as we rarely needed to use the car during our stay. We had a lovely late autumn break and would happily return to this property.

  • "Great location on the edge of town with everything in a short walking distance."

Everything you could need was supplied in the property. It was clean, warm and had very comfortable beds. To have the parking spaces is a real must in such a tourist hot spot. There is a very good Co-op in walking distance. We've never seen such a good one. The property was as described on the easy to use Sykes website and the communication from them was excellent. The church bells that do ring every 15 minutes 24/7 did not bother us at all, we did sleep at the back of the house and it was no problem and an extra delight was the bell ringing practise on the Wednesday night. Quintessentially English. Lovely.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. Property Owner

We enjoyed outside garden space. Padded garden chairs would have been appreciated, especially as the weather was fantastic. A beautiful area and visited interesting places.

  • "Lovely place to stay in a great location with parking."

Kitchen great, but no instruction manual for oven or dishwasher & not enough drinking glasses or utensils. Patio door quite difficult to open or lock at times. All bedrooms lovely & spacious with comfortable beds. Great little sitting area outside that feels private.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear of the lack of instructions for the oven and dishwasher, as well as cutlery. These will both be raised with the owner. We hope that you were able to enjoy your stay nonetheless. Property Owner

  • "The property was in a ideal area, only a short walk to shops and eating facilities."

We found that there was only a bench to sit on in garden, needed more seating. The cooker is not fitted into the housing properly, stopped the freezer and fridge from closing properly. Also wasnt correct recycling bags , stated we need white sacks, but none available.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay at Poets Corner. We appreciate you highlighting these points with us as we'll now be able to have maintenance go and have a look into things! You're suggestions for improvement will also be passed on to the property owner. We hope to see you again soon! Property Owner

  • "House was fine in general though the covid script in visitors book had not been met in terms of: floor not clean fridge had not been cleaned nor had cupboard doors."

Areas around bin and light sws dirty and decor looking tired. That said its in a great position with easy access to town and we enjoyed our stay, (family of 4).

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Poets Corner. I'm sorry that the cleaning wasn't up to our usual high standard on this occasion and the Housekeeper has been spoken to on this. Hopefully we can welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely place, we had a wonderful holiday with the exception of the church bells which we hadn’t realised would sound through the night."

We are light sleepers so struggled a bit until we got used to them. Also the cottage could do with a cafetière (one is shown in the pictures but not actually there) and a fish slice as it was tricky getting our fried eggs out of the pan with a wooden spoon! Otherwise it was all very comfortable, relaxing and a very short stroll to the beautiful river.

Many thanks for your feedback. We have now updated our system to state that the Church Bells can be heard inside the property. We hope to welcome you back to The Cotswold's in the future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely house in a perfect location."

We had a lovely time and the beds were all super comfortable. Just a few little things which would have made our stay easier and could be easily rectified:- The clothes horse was in pieces so they need a new one especially as we needed to wash face masks. There was no spatula to use with frying pan to cook our bacon and a glass bowl and jug would be useful so we could mix our scrambled eggs. The only bowls were cereal bowls which we used to mix everything. A mirror in the double room on first floor is needed as there is no where to dry or straighten your hair which on holiday is a must! However loads of cups; bowls and glasses which was great so that you could use the dishwasher and still have plenty to use. I would recommend as just a short walk to the centre and lots of lovely walks in the area. Lovely furnishings and lovely second lounge.

I'ts lovely to hear you enjoyed your stay at Poets Corner and we welcome feedback about our property's. I have made our Housekeepers aware of the items that need to be replaced and we will see to this asap, thank you for letting us know. Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely, spacious holiday home in a quiet location on the edge of Bourton on the Water, but just a few minutes' easy walk down the footpath by the church towards the town centre."

The location is a real bonus in a very busy town as you can leave the car at the property and not have to worry about finding parking. You can also drive in and out of town on Lansdowne without having to negotiate the busy town centre. Although it is opposite and set below a school on one side and the church is to the front, we were not bothered by noise from either. The accommodation is light, modern and well-equipped, with super views from the top floor over the town roofs to countryside beyond.

  • "Great cottage plenty of room."

Nice to have a garden. The Cottage was very clean and felt homely. Washing machine, dishwasher, oven and microwave. Excellent cooking facilities! The location was perfect, could walk in to Button on the water, and not far from other locations. The only downside, no tumble dryer or a washing line in the garden would of been handy. Did expect a Welcome pack as in a box of eggs, bread, milk and a cake. This would be nice set up on the table, with the information folder. I know this cant be changed but the showers were small!

  • "The cottage was spacious, over 3 floors with a toilet on each floor and 2 bathrooms."

There was an second living room on the first floor as well, which was a bonus. We could not have asked for a better place for members of the far-flung family to meet and stay. Loved the underfloor hearing in the living area downstairs! Only one 'grumble' was the lack of help in operating the hob and microwave. Not used to a convection hob, I had to download the instruction book onto my tablet to find out how to turn it on! Once I did so, it was great, but without that I was lost. Also took a while to work out the microwave, but I/we did using the trial and error method.

  • "The property and location were an excellent fit for us."

We were a couple plus my partner's parents, so our ages ranged from 59 to 89. There were a lot of stairs between the top and bottom, but we were agile enough and they presented no problem. We managed to chip a plate and break a cup in the sink and would suggest the simple addition of a standard sink bowl (We replaced both with similar, even though the chipped plate is usable) The showers on both floors were great, but a more standard shower head on a flexible hose might have been better. The small floor-space of the shower with a large overhead shower is difficult to trust when you don't know how hot/cold it will be. All the rooms were excellent, of good size and the furnishings were nice. It felt modern and clean at all times whilst being literally a hop/skip and a jump away from the church and the very centre of the village. The private parking was brilliant and I found that when taking the elders to the nearby attractions (De La Hayes Cafe/Birdland/Model Village/ Shopping Areas) the easiest thing was to drive them there and then bring the car back to the house and walk to rejoin them and then collect the car later. It was a way better option than pay and display parking when you have no idea how long you're going to be. Overall, extremely pleased and hope we can return in the not too distant future

  • "Although accommodation was for 6 adults there was little wardrobe space to cover staying for a longer period than 4 nights."

One of the second floor bedrooms had no wardrobe, just a few coat hooks on a wall. The room was really to small to fit 2 single beds in and in doing this you couldn’t shut the door, so very little privacy. However we did enjoy our stay and the cottage location was very good, only a few minutes walk into the main town area. Final comment, because of the smallness of the bedroom we would not stay here again or recommend it to friends if they were a party of 6 people

About the location

BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER

Stow-on-the-Wold 4 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Chipping Norton 13 miles; Cheltenham 15.5 miles.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.
