1 Westcroft Cottage

We (4 ladies) styed here in May in order to visit Badminton Horse Trials.

It proved to be ideal, about 17 miles from the event and the location was truly rural, with some nice local walks. The owner was very chatty and helpful.

We had a perfect holiday at Westcroft Cottage.

A beautiful cottage, with lovely walks with views from the house. Stunning views and walks are a very short drive away. If you go to Selsey Common you can see the cottage in the distance. Cottage was very clean, plenty of space for 3 teenagers, lots of storage space especially in the kitchen. Lovely peaceful little seating area outside that we used every day.

Had everything you would need and comfortably housed the family. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. WiFi would have been good to have, but other than that it was a fabulous stay. Would happily stay again.

We had very relaxing mini break at the Westcroft cottage.

The location is very pleasant and peaceful. You could just switch off from outside world and listen to the birds and the nature. If you love the traditional old architecture and buildings I recommend this place highly. The owners have preserved the old features lovingly and restored the property to modern standards. The host is vey attentive and helpful. If you like simplicity, quirkiness and peace I highly recommend this to you!

We enjoyed our stay and the family were very helpful in ensuring our holiday was peaceful.

Local information was provided, and the cottage provided ample and warm space for our family of five.

Lovely old cottage with Character.

In the kitchen there is everything you need for cooking and a separate freezer. A bottle of milk, tea, coffee and sugar were left for us to use. The cottage had been decorated as it was Christmas and the owner left us a Xmas present under the tree which was a lovely thought.

Caretaker Caroline was wonderful.

Very helpful and friendly. Kitchen had everything you needed. Towels were a little rough and shower curtain had a big rip so water escaped. Quilts didn't quite fit over the beds which wouldn't be a problem in the warmer months. We found the beds uncomfortable but that's a personal choice. Area good for walkers, very hilly walk to the woods which are on the doorstep.

Lovely cottage.

Very clean and comfortable. Perfect for our short stay visiting the area for a family wedding. Caroline very friendly and helpful. Very quiet area and easy stroll into the village.

Really friendly and helpful owners, thank you. Loved looking out at the beautiful flowers in the garden. In the hot weather this week, we enjoyed eating outside in the garden and the coolness inside the cottage.

this property is very nice and central for visiting a lot of places, the owner is very nice, will meet you to give you the key, but will not intrude on your stay.

Great location and perfect for our Cotswold Way trip, enabling us to easily travel to the start and finish of our 'legs'. Owners were so friendly and helpful and couldn't have done more for us. Definitely recommend

Have just returned from a short stay at 1 westcroft cottage with my family.

We were very happy with the accommodation-very well equipped and comfortable. The owner called a few days prior to our arrival too which was lovely. Would recommend.

Had a lovely stay at Westcroft Cottage, Caroline and her husband were very helpful and always on hand.

It is a shame that couple of local pubs had closed, although Kings Head has reopened but does not serve food. Village was lovely and peaceful, lovely to see horse riders and dog walkers.

I had the good fortune of staying at the stonehoue in Sept 2022 and was so impressed I came back and spent Christmas 2022 here also.

An absolutely delightful Cottage with some charming features from yester-year. A real treat. The location is remote and peaceful. Surrounded by rolling hills and woodlands. Our hosts are very charming and welcoming. This one is a gem! Would highly recommend! Thank you Mr and Mrs Webb. xx

We had a wonderful week in the cottage which is accessed by a no through road so there is no traffic passing.

I loved the peace and quiet and the beautiful walks that can be done straight from the door, including up into the woods which were full of wood anenomes flowering. The owners who live next door are very kind and genuine people. There is a good co-op shop just a few minutes walk away in the village. I did all my own cooking and was impressed with how well equipped the kitchen was. My daughter was revising for exams. It is worth noting that whilst there is no Wi-Fi at the property the mobile reception was very good and she was able to access everything she needed using data on her phone. We enjoyed local walks with great views of the Severn estuary, visiting Stroud and its surrounding villages and generally enjoying the tranquility of the area.

Lovely cottage and ideal for our needs.

Very friendly welcome from the owner who lives next door. Great location for walking, or driving to nearby attractions, such as the Westonbirt Arboretum, Tetbury and Stroud. Good local takeaway, who delivery, however both local pubs weren't doing food, although this could be due to staffing issues, as a result of the pandemic.

The owner was so kind and welcoming and the cottage was lovely and clean and welcoming! I cannot recommend this highly enough! The location was fab with great access to walks locally with very lush scenery! My son and I enjoyed playing football in the green and in the playground! Everyone in the village was so friendly! The only thing that bothered the children was no WiFi and in this day of having to book everything before you go it would be handy! That is a ridiculously small thing…I just bought more data! I definitely recommend this cottage as an ideal get away and break from it all! Thank you!

We got around the issue of having no wifi by using mobile data, but maybe it would be good to state clearly on the listing that there is no wifi at the property.

Lovely cosy cottage set on the outskirts of King's Stanley in a quiet spot: all was clean and comfortable.

We could hear owls and watched bats flit around the light at night and watch long horned cattle in the field outside. There is a pleasant garden to the front of the cottage that was filled with flowers. The cottage is very well placed for many attractions such as Westonbirt Arboretum and Slimbridge wetland Centre and is a great base for walking. Being a genuinely old cottage it has low beams that you can hit your head on and the stairs are a bit creaky. The third bedroom is up two flights of steep steps so not for the frail but we found it suited us fine. It now has a small freezer in the kitchen but there is no WiFi. It was good to get away from all the gloom and doom and enjoy some lovely walks and site seeing. Our host, Mrs Webb, was very friendly.

It was a fantastic cottage, totally enjoyed the holiday and loved the cottage.

A beautiful place with lots of character it exceeded our expectations and we're definitely planning to return. Can't compliment the cottage enough nor the friendly owners who went out of their way to help and ensure our holiday was the best it could be. Really recommend Westcroft, the cottage is an absolute joy. We hated leaving it!

was really great to have some local walks detailed in the cottage but would have been even better to have some that started directly from the cottage. Cottage was fabulous and our children loved it. Would love to go back again.

We had a lovely week, the cottage was true to description and pictures, nestled in the countryside yet a short drive away from Stroud and all its facilities.

Owner next door at lovely people. On our way there had to deal with Sykes cottages and been helped by very professional and helpful staff.

The hosts made us feel very welcome and decorated the house for Christmas. We found the kitchen well supplied for cooking, better than a lot of holiday homes.

The owner lived next door but was very discreet. She was very helpful in getting us to know the local area. Fresh eggs were delivered on one day which was very welcome. All in all, a very enjoyable stay and I would definitely recommend this property.
