The place is spotless and the fresh crumpets and milk was a nice touch. Situated right next to a great friendly pub. Dog friendly.! Highly recommend

  • "We were very comfortable in this well appointed and clean cottage."

Jayne certainly does her best to make you feel at home with her extra little touches. We loved the log burner, so cosy on those wet and miserable days. The central heating is also very efficient. This cottage is set in a peaceful village where everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The Black Horse pub has wonderful food and Ash (bartender) is extremely efficient in looking after the customer. An ideal location for visiting and exploring the Cotswolds. We had a very relaxing time, thank you Jayne.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Gleed Cottage. It's lovely to hear how much you have enjoyed your stay at the cottage and the wonderful places to visit and eat at. We would love to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

The welcome pack was much appreciated and enjoyed. The only downside was the enclosed garden does not have a grass area for dogs and it would only keep a small dog in.

Thank you for your review and we're glad you found the cottage to be warm and cosy. We hope the description of the garden wasn't misleading - it is described as an enclosed patio garden and hopefully the photo does show this clearly. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Jayne is awfully kind, the cottage was immaculately cleaned upon arrival, and the welcome packet is sublime."

And I find it hard to write the rest, as we found the cottage disappointing. The kitchen is tiny, the fridge is way too small if, like me, you order groceries for 5 days. It does just fit 2 days, at most. The kitchen lacks storage space, some shelves above the fridge would have made a positive difference. Downstairs in general is on the small side, upstairs is better, but without any proper wardrobes. Hooks on the wall instead. The windows throughout are difficult: some open, some don’t or miss the iron work to keep them open. The fire place doesn’t work properly, we ended up with the front door wide open to let the smoke get out of the front room. Not what you hope for on a chilly evening. All in all rather uncomfortable and disappointing.

  • "Not a suitable cottage for the winter as the front door do not close properly, the electric heating system was ineffective and some of the windows did not open."

I am so sorry you were cold! We are aware that the front door is warped but as the property is grade 2 listed we have to have planning permission to change the door and it has to be exactly the same! We have put a curtain over the door and a draft excluder which should have helped. I have checked the heating and it is all working, the maximum ambient temperature it goes up to is 30 degrees. I would have made every effort to come over immediately had you called, it is horrid being cold. I have since checked all the windows and they all open as they should. We only just recently had the windows double glazed and if there is a problem I'd like to know so I c an take it up with glaziers. The kitchen window is the only one remaining that isn't double glazed but the handle to open it is in the window sill. Again I am so sorry you were cold. Property Owner

..good welcome, great food and super value !! The cottage is comfortable and as would be expected for a property of that age! As people of no experience with wood burning fires we did have a few difficulties initially !!! There were only two of us staying in the cottage and did not really have enough hot water - which only seemed available in the morning? We tried the dishwasher but it did not seem to heat up at all so did not really clean !!.......I am sure we could have asked but we decided not to bother as we were only there for a few days !! totally our decision!! but just for future clients ..........

A case of better late than never! Thank you for your kind words, the dish machine had gone wrong!, anyway we have now replaced it so when you come again you will have a problem Property Owner

We explored the local area and fell in love with the Cotswolds. The Black Horse pub 100m along the road was friendly and welcoming with good ale and excellent food and dog friendly. The cottage itself is perfect and just what we expected, it still retains its character and is warm and comfortable. The duvets and linen were to die for, made it hard to get out of bed! On our next visit we must remember our slippers, the flagstone floor, original I think, was a bit chilly once shoes were off. That is not a criticism just a reminder for us and other guests who visit this little treasure. A big thank you to owner Jayne, we will return.

Thank you for your kind comments. I’ll put the comments re the slippers on my notes for future guests, Thank you for being such lovely guests (four paws too) Property Owner

And the Cotswolds a great part of England with lots of charming flowery and picturesque villages. Very good for hiking, wich we just love to do. Jayne and her husband are wonderful people, very helpful and very kind to our dog, too : ) The few downsides of Gleed cottage however was the luke warm water of the shower, the lack of cozy and warm light downstairs and for tall people, like ourselves, the double bed unfortunately was way too small. But probably this is just us. But inspite of the few downsides, I would certainly still book Gleed cottage again.

Some essentials in the fridge on arrival which were much appreciated after a long drive. We stayed with our small toddler and dog. The garden was lovely and a BBQ is on site to use. A number of steps downstairs made things tricky with the baby, as did the open balustrades both downstairs and upstairs. A baby gate was provided but it was missing pieces to attach it to the wall(!). However, given this is a period property, this is somewhat to be expected but just something to note if you're planning to bring babies or toddlers. Cleanliness was also a bit of an issue: the surfaces in the cottage were dusty on arrival, the carpets hadn't been vacuumed upstairs and there was dirty cutlery in the kitchen drawers. We also found clothing from a previous guest in one of the bedroom cupboards..!

It would have been nice to have a visitors guide with owners local knowledge, I know you can look on your phone but there is so many great walks from the doorstep of the cottage which would have been useful to have. One bed was very hard and one very soft but the rest of the cottage was very comfortable. Some of the basics (for us) were missing, like coasters, placemats etc, I’m not one for putting cups on anything without a coaster is case any ring marks are left. Overall lovely cottage, clean and great location. Pub staff, as others have said are sooooo friendly. Great pub

Lovely walks around and fantastic comfy, dog friendly pub a few steps away with amazing food. Was welcomed by some tasty goodies which is always a bonus. Only downsides were: walls are quite thin so could hear neighbours who clearly have a mischievous dog so we actually found it quite amusing ;D and a few extra logs would have been nice for time year. No major issues though plenty of lovely towns and villages within Short driving distances with small local shops aswell as bigger supermarkets. Would definitely choose to stay again if heading back down that way

Lovely fresh bread, jam, butter and milk on arrival was a welcome touch. The bedrooms were large and spacious. The Black Horse pub was a stone's throw away and the staff there were really friendly. The food and company were amazing. The thing that let it down and wasn't good was how cold the house was on arrival. It was a bitterly cold day in January with a check-in time of 5pm yet the heating had been turned down to just 13 degrees. It took ages to warm the house up. It's not like we weren't expected as we'd kept in regular contact by email.
