"We enjoyed our week at The Garden Retreat which benefitted from the glorious weather."
The rear garden room with bifold doors took full advantage of the hot weather. We did feel the owners decision to remove the lawn and replace with rewilding the area was a regressive step as the life of the cornflowers, poppies etc. is limited life and during the hot weather were spent and looked a mess. A shame when there are good size boarders with a large variety of wilding plants which could not be appreciated to the full. Also getting to the rear seating area became a challenge. I would also mention the pictures on the details are a misrepresentation of what is provided and both Manor Cottages and Sykes should update their details to represent the reality. Manor Cottages were very good to keep us informed regarding the previous guests who had a mishap on the stairs and pulled the balustrade from the wall on being made safe and secure. The stairs are tight and steep and in our view the rope balustrade is totally inadequate with insufficient fixings as well as the wrong height and should be replaced with a fixed balustrade. Anyone with mobility issues have little chance of reaching the upper floor. We knew car parking was on street, however the road is narrow along this area of the high street and watching a near miss I move the car around the corner for safety and piece of mind. Otherwise generally parking was not an issue. The area is great for walking so took advantage of the list of walks left in the cottage. Winchcombe offers all amenities and took advantage of the local hostelries. All in all a pleasant cottage in which to stay which was enhanced by the weather.
Thanks for your feedback, I’m glad you had a good stay. I apologise for the garden looking a little rough around the edges, I took the decision to lean more socially responsible and not water the garden heavily on a daily basis during the last months exceptionally hot weather. It’s a balancing act, and I’m sorry if that spoilt your experience. I checked our listing regarding the steep stairs and a photograph is there, but we’ll update the listing to be more specific. All feedback is valuable, so thanks for taking the time to do this.

"A wonderfully sympathetic refurb with no expense spared."
It was very well furnished and equipped, looking like something from a magazine while still being homely. The location is excellent for walking and visiting other parts of the Cotswolds and the owners have provided maps and guides. The view is incredible, especially from upstairs (a chair on the landing would be a great addition in order to enjoy the view). We loved spending time in the sun room enjoying the wonderful wildlife garden, the view and the birds, especially when it was warm enough to open the bifold doors.
The only negative was the traffic during rush hour as we are not used to traffic noise and the road is very close to the cottage.
Suggested improvements would be a small dining table and chairs in the sun room so we could continue to enjoy the views while eating rather than sitting in the rather gloomy (by comparison) kitchen. Also some more large plates as we used them all before the dishwasher was anywhere near full.
I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay, thanks for the useful feedback, we’ll discuss those points and see what changes can be made. Those views are fantastic so we need to take advantage of them. Hope to see you again soon.

Just back from a 4 night break over the new year at this beautiful cottage
Winchcombe was lovely, great for walkers and it was lovely to hear the church bells chiming at midnight on New Year’s Eve as well as on New Year’s Day
Cottage very tastefully decorated, very well equipped and we spent New Year’s Day cosy in front of the log burner and cooked a lovely roast dinner after a lovely walk around Winchcombe
Good location to visit The Cotswolds as well
Loved spending time there in the winter, with the garden room at the back with bifold doors leading to a lovely garden, can imagine would be lovely in the summer too, would definitely return to this cottage, don’t think the photos do it justice
My one suggestion would be a glove to open the log burner as handle gets very hot but other than this we had a very relaxing and well needed break after a hectic year and wouldn’t hesitate in returning again
Glad you enjoyed a fantastic New Year at the cottage, it is wonderfully cosy. I appreciate the suggestion on the glove for the log burner, we’ll get that addressed. We hope to see you again.

"We have stayed in a lot of holiday cottages all over the country and this is by far the best we have stayed in."
It has everything to make it a home from home, with quality furniture, bedding and textiles and top of the range appliances. The conservatory and garden are a perfect place to sip your morning coffee and enjoy the birds and countryside. The lovely living room with the log fire was a delight at night watching our favourite shows on the smart TV. This cottage is what I would want from a country home and could not have been happier here. I would definitely recommend to others and would love to come back for another stay. Thank you! Xx
Thank you for your lovely kind words, we are delighted the property felt like home and we would love to welcome you again soon for another stay with us soon. Kind regards Manor Cottages.

"A wonderful property in a lovely quiet village."
Very comfortable bed, amazing shower, and just an incredibly well furnished and provisioned house, even down to rain-sensitive skylights in the conservatory! A gift card for the local store was a welcome bonus too. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough and if we’re visiting the area again, we’d definitely stay here.
We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Garden Retreat and in particular the gift card we left, we like to support local retail in Winchcombe as much as possible. Hope to see you again.

"We have had an absolutely fantastic long weekend at the Garden Retreat."
The house was spotlessly clean, comfortable and full of everything you could ever need. It has been furnished to such a high standard. Bedroom is lovely with a super comfy bed and we were amazed with the range of utensils supplied in the kitchen!
Sitting in the conservatory with the doors open on to the lovely garden was such a treat, we sat there for hours.
Accessing the property was easy with the lock box, with parking right outside. Within very short walking distance to the lovely town of Winchcombe. The deli, butchers and bakery were all fantastic.
We can’t say enough positive words about our stay, this is honestly one of the best properties we have ever stayed in.
Already looking at when we can visit again. Thank you
We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay, thanks so much for your kind words. I hope we can welcome you again soon.
