  • "The Piggery is a truly delightful cottage which has kept the ambience of the cottage style life yet with the comfort of modern day living."

The setting is beautiful and the scenery amazing. So peaceful and 'green'. Lots of places to visit with stunning settings. Hard to keep your eyes on the road! Sue and Jim the owners were very friendly and helpful and we had everything we needed. Our only little niggle was the TV. It could do with being a bit bigger for us oldies !! Saying that we spent most of the evenings sat outside watching the wildlife. An amazing week away. Thank you Sue and Jim.

Thank you for your positive feedback, we are always delighted that our guest enjoy their stay , it was lovely meeting you. Jim and Sue Property Owner

The piggery is just stunning.. the views really are beautiful. It’s all we ever wanted from our holiday, quiet, extremely large garden which our two children enjoyed everyday, day and night it was really clean and there was lots of facilities inside the house. Thank you Jim and Sue! We have created memories for life here at the piggery.

Thank you so much for your lovely review and we're delighted that you and your children enjoyed the house and garden. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Many thanks for a wonderful stay at the Piggery, which is an absolute gem of a place."

We loved the house and the location, which were perfect both for our 4-year-old and for us. The fact that the property is set in 360 degrees of beautiful garden, complete with baby rabbits and fabulous views down to the Severn, would have been enough. Throw in comfy beds and sofas, a well-appointed kitchen, plentiful hot water and natural light, and the welcoming and cosy feel of the house, and it was all just perfect (and we were extremely lucky with the weather, too). We will be back!

  • "Their were wasps nests outside the property main doors, and bedroom doors, we could not open the windows when it was hot ."

The TV was so small we had to pull it forward to we could see it. The pillows and beds were very uncomfortable and it is not suitable for anyone who is disabled. The shower needs updating , when using the shower the water went everywhere .

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay at The Piggery. On investigation, there were no wasps nests to be found at the property. There are many bees in the area and they do gravitate towards the flowers and the vines that grow around the cottage. They are very busy at this time of year! We're very sorry to hear that the TV was too small for you. Previous guests have not found the size of the TV to be an issue but we have taken note of your comments for future reference. We have had lots of guests with mobility issues stay over the years and many have returned year on year as they have found the property more than suited to their requirements. With regard to the shower, we will look into any adjustments, if needed, we realise shower curtains can cause issues. Again, we appreciate you leaving feedback on your stay and hope that you had a lovely break away. Property Owner

The photos don't do it justice. We enjoyed watching the birds, rabbits and squirrels. It is also conveniently located to travel to a number of destinations. We visited Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol and Worcestershire. There are good pubs near by. We had good meals and service with a smile at the George Inn and The Rising Sun. Tesco was about 4 miles away. We could have done with slightly more cutlery and mugs.

The property

The Piggery is in every sense unique - not just by name!

Hidden off a narrow lane, this old barn which once housed (you guessed it!) pigs, has been transformed into a welcoming and cosy holiday home that enjoys the most breathtaking views across rolling Gloucestershire countryside down towards the River Severn.

The owners are wonderful hosts taking, providing seasonal flowers and tasty sponge cake for your arrival, and happily give tips on what to do nearby - naturally you could do nothing other than sit inside or out and take in the amazing views - as the pictures don't do it justice!

The gardens that surround you are packed with cottage style plants, and the 'Viginia Creeper' that cloaks the barn and changes almost daily simply beautiful.

Inside, lights floods in through large windows in all rooms, all a good sized rooms and all furnished traditionally as befits the building and location.

Although you're set in a large meadow, civilization is down the lane, with a good pub about 800 yards away and a small shop too.

This is a special and traditional holiday home, worth the journey and the hunt to find it as once you arrive and see the view you'll relax immediately.

We love it.The accommodation is all on one level which means that it is suitable for those with limited mobility.
