The Vinery

The Vinery is the perfect base for exploring the area.

Wonderful cottage with everything you could need. Owner Ann was on hand for any needs and made us feel very welcome and often enjoyed a morning chat over the garden fence along with her little jack russel Millie, who you didn’t even hear was there. Would highly recommend The Vinery, the rooms are spacious and beds were very comfy. Would stay again without hesitation.

Ann was vey friendly and welcoming.

The cottage was comfortable and met all our needs. It was a shame that we couldn’t see more of the local area due to the extreme heat but we really enjoyed our stay, despite that.

We were welcomed by the owner and Millie the dog, who the kids loved. The location is fantastic for days out, particularly if you have children, there's so much to do nearby. The accommodation has everything you need and was very comfortable with plenty of towels. There is a great pub within walking distance with a really good play area for children and animals. The garden is extremely peaceful and everyone enjoyed watching the birds feeding, and we even spotted a woodpecker a couple of times.

Weather was great. Cozy cottage with a lovely garden. Enjoyed watching the birds in the garden each day and saw a woodpecker come in. Two great local pubs. 20 mins to Ross on wye, Gloucester on a bus route. Forest of dean near by too for great walks and cycling. The host Ann was very friendly and helpful.

Lovely little cottage on the edge of the Forest of Dean.

Perfect size for a family of four, which for us included two older children (both teenagers). Lovely and clean on first arrival, with everything available to make a hot drink (if only it has not been the hottest May late Bank Holiday on record). Property is beautifully placed to visit Gloucester, Forest of Dean and The Wye Valley along both sides of the border with Wales and the surrounding areas. Special treat was witnessing a couple of Woodpeckers feeding of the bird feeders in the garden visible through patio doors of the lounge area.

A really lovely cottage - from the initial warm welcome from Ann and her lovely dog Millie to the time we sadly had to leave we felt totally at home.

The cottage was comfortable with a lovely atmosphere, had all that we required and was in a beautiful setting. Although quite close to the A40 - meaning easy access to so many places - we were surprised at how very quiet it was. As we had a fairly full itinerary for the week we did not actually spend as much time as we might have liked at The Vinery but it was so pleasant to be able to sit outside in the sun on our return at the end of the day, watching the wildlife on the bird feeders (even a woodpecker!). Absolutely no complaints - a 10 plus even.

This is a lovingly cared for clean and tidy relaxing cottage with an equally cared for wildlife garden.

Surrounded by lovely countryside in a very quiet area, perfect for peace, rest and relaxation. Ideally situated for easy access to the Forest of Dean and other areas of interest and activities. The owner Ann always gives you a very warm welcome on arrival.

A very pleasant cottage, thoughtfully equipped and prepared, in a quiet, attractive place with sheep and birds.

The road and cottage are clearly signposted and the parking is very easy. Having two pubs within walking distance to eat at and a very well stocked local Budgens was a bonus. It is well sited for the Forest of Dean, River Wye and Gloucester. There are local walks including to May Hill. We (4 adults) had a great week helped by good weather.

Everything that is listed about this property was correct. It is a great place to either spend time relaxing or getting out and about and visiting some of the attractions nearby. Very easy to understand why it is so popular with people wanting to return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Vinery.

It was lovely and clean, we received a lovely welcome and it was central to all the paces we wanted to visit. The only comment I would make is that the WIFI was very hit and miss regularly losing connection. I would recommend The Vinery to everybody but be aware of the WIFI!

Anne was a great host; friendly, welcoming and a useful source of local information. The cottage itself was perfect for our needs being comfortable, clean and well equipped. It is ideally located for exploring both the Forest of Dean and the Cotswolds. We also ventured into South Wales for a lovely day trip to Tretower Court and Raglan Castle. We hope to return before too long!

The gardens are wonderful and Ann and her dog Millie made us very welcome.

The Vineary is a charming cottage, with an attractive well-planted garden area visited by many birds in which to relax.

It is comfortably furnished and a cosy place to return to after a busy day out. The owner is friendly and welcoming and my two friends and I felt very at home there. This is our second visit. We would be happy to visit again.

This is a delightful cottage, located in a very quiet area.

The cottage was 'spick and span' on our arrival, where we were greeted by the owner, Ann. She was very helpful, and a joy to meet. No hesitation in recommending the Vinery as a holiday venue. It's location is ideal for exploring the many attractions within a 30 mile radius. Bus stops are located a very short walk from the property, with services to Gloucester, Ross on Wye, Hereford and Coleford.

Beautiful cottage in such a lovely location.

Perfectly situated for everywhere we wanted to visit during our stay and plenty of nearby places to eat (some you can walk to). Anne is absolutely lovely and reallly looks after the place well. We had the best week, thank you so much!! We will definitely want to book again if we are over this way again!!

Very much enjoyed the lovely Vinery cottage.

Comfy sofas and beds. Lots of provided towels. 2 shower rooms .lovely Garden and benches. We were Left some milk and local eggs which was a thoughtful touch. Beautifully clean and welcoming . Bedrooms and lounge were very spacious with well chosen and quality curtains and carpets throughout. I think the only thing we would have changed, and it’s very minor, is the electric oven which was slow to work and difficult to manage the heat. Also a few suggestions in the equipment area would be : a new frying pan ( as the bottom is a bit bent so couldn’t get the heat easily in all areas of the pan); a sieve for draining rice/ pasta; garlic press) . But this didn’t detract from the super cottage situated in a beautiful part of the country.Ross on wye, hay on wye, Gloucester cathedral was amazing, we even managed a day trip to Cardiff to see the royal mint! Ann the owner (& her very cute dog) was extremely welcoming and we enjoyed our stay very much.

A comfortable cottage in a very convenient location, amazingly peaceful but only 1/4 mile off the A40 in Huntley, handy for both Gloucester and the Forest of Dean.

We enjoyed a peaceful Christmas there, but it would be a lovely place to stay at other times of the year. Quite a few guests have returned several times. The cottage has views out over paddocks with inquisitive sheep and there were numerous birds on the feeders. Ann is a friendly, accessible and helpful host.

Cottage attached to owners cottage was comfortable and cosy. Had lots of information about local area, which is beautiful. Very pretty garden with lots of birds kept us entertained. Only problem we had was lack of Internet access.

Our stay at The Vinery was really enjoyable and it had everything we needed and the views were lovely.

The place was immaculate and plenty of parking area. We enjoyed the open views and from the bedroom with the fields and horses, very relaxing. The owner was very helpful and friendly, and if you needed anything she would be available. The surroundings are good, as counties are close, we visited The Forest of Dean, The Cotswolds, Herefordshire (Ross on Wye) Wye Valley (Tintern Abbey) Hay on Wye in Wales and Tewkesbury is close and worth a visit.

Ann was very welcoming and gave us ideas for places to visit.

The cottage was comfortable and homely….. everything we needed. Well laid out with a sunny garden and lovely views.

Friendly owner, the only negative was the wi-fi (Talk-Talk), which was very inconsistent ranging from 25M to 0.2M at different times.

The accommodation was extremely comfortable & was as described. It's lovely quiet location was perfect, being ideally placed for trips to the Cotswolds, Wye Valley & Forest of Dean. We were three retired schoolfriends there for our annual get-together.

'The Vineary' is a very pleasant property; the friendly owner welcomed us to a spotless, cosy cottage with wide-reaching views. It had everything we needed. A really 'easy', relaxing place to stay with a gorgeous garden and delightful birdfeeders (refilled regularly) which attracted lots of different birds; we watched them from the living room. Ample off-road parking, many interesting places to visit in the area and a good pub lunch available just down the road. I think in future I'd take my own pillow as I need a softer one, but we would definitely be very happy to stay there again. Thank you!

All facilities were as described. Central point to visit Cotswolds and Forest of Dean. Many birds were seen in the garden. Millie, the dog , was an added bonus

Ein wunderbarer Ort, der sich gut eignet, das Umfeld zu erkunden vom Grenzpfad an der walisischen Grenze im Westen über Gloucester bis zu den Cotswolds im Osten.

The Vinery ist ein anheimelnder Ort, die Vermieterin sehr freundlich, es fehlt im Haus an nichts. Die Hauptstraße ist so weit entfernt, dass sie wirklich nicht stört, es ist herrlich ruhig, der Blick schweift über Wiesen, Kühe und den fernen Horizont. Eine Verbesserungsidee: Nicht mehr ganz zeitgemäß ist das sehr schwache Internet über Wi-Fi, da braucht jede WhatsApp Nachricht Minuten.

Lovely cottage, only 2 criticisms.

....1, the bed is a double not a king-size, and 2, cooker knobs was hard to decipher because the print had worn away so difficult to work out which rings was heating.

Great private quiet location, lovely maintained garden with sitting area. Clearly the owner Ann takes a lot of care rather than it just being a ‘usual holiday let’. We have already booked to revisit !

Bus stop at end of lane. Many places of interest and nice walks in the area. Ann makes you very welcome and is a wealth of useful information. Will be going again,highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at The Vinery, and loved the peaceful location of the property.

Views overlooking the country side were nice, too. It was just what we wanted for our holiday! The property was comfortable and clean, and we had everything we needed. The owner was very lovely, too! It was great that my young teenage children had their own rooms to chill in after a busy day of sightseeing! My youngest child was particularly happy to be able to play with Millie (the owner's dog) when she about.

The property appears to be called 'The Vineary', and is very quiet and in pleasant surroundings.

Just a couple of niggles a shortage of cupboard space in the kitchen and very squeeky floors in the bedrooms and stairs.

We really enjoyed the stay.

A bonus was watching the birds at the feeders in the garden through the patio window. The only drawback was the small size of the shower room, with limited space to hang two bath towels to dry out (a clothes airer for indoor use would be useful).

Vine cottage was lovely very clean and every thing you wanted was there abd the owner Ann was there to greet us and very pleasant and helpful and would do anything to help you if you needed anything and have never been anywhere with such a pleasant and happy person to help you if you need it and will certainly be returning and such a clean and cosy cottage with everything you need

It was so peaceful looking out over the Gloucestershire countryside and watching the birds in the garden all day every day. The cottage was very comfortable and it was handy to have two bathrooms there. The owner lives next door and is a lovely lady who is there to help ensure you have a good holiday while maintaining your privacy.
