Berrys Place Farm Cottage

We had a great holiday in this lovely quiet cottage.

It has beautiful grounds which are very secluded and yet have easy access to lots of interesting places within a short drive. The owners were very friendly and helpful. It was a most enjoyable stay.

This is an exceptional cottage in a lovely, peaceful location, with free access to the owners' beautiful and very extensive gardens.

It's extremely clean, comfortable and very well presented and made the perfect base for our holiday. When you add to that owners who are extremely welcoming and friendly, Jess the dog, geese, hens, rabbits, and herons on the lake, and you have a very special place. We loved it.

We have stayed in many Sykes cottages but this one takes some beating.

The accommodation was comfortable and well appointed, the gardens amazing and the owners really nice. We hope to go back again sometime.

It is very peaceful and in a great location for accessing the Forest of Dean. The grounds are nice to walk in and relax in, the owners are very friendly and helpful. We had a most enjoyable stay. The cottage is well equipped with everything we could possibly need and we would thoroughly recommend it.

Brilliant property ,would like to visit again,lovely owners

A cosy, homely cottage, attached to the owners' home and located in acres of landscaped gardens including its own fishing lake with a boat/tea house.

In a few months, when the weather is warmer and settled, these surroundings should be beautiful. The cottage is well-equipped and the owners very friendly, helpful and responsive to questions about the premises and local attractions. There was a welcome variety of basic provisions to greet us on arrival including a delicious home-made, lemon, drizzle cake! Certainly recommended. Thanks for a great week Gary and Anne!

The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped.

Anne met us as we arrived and was very friendly and helpful. The welcome package of bread milk eggs and homemade cake was greatly appreciated. We also liked that there were big fluffy towels in the bathroom. The beds are very comfortable. The location is very peaceful and it was lovely to sit and watch all the birds in the garden. We highly recommend this cottage.

This is a beautiful cottage, in a lovely setting.

The owners are very helpful, but also discrete. There are lots of things to do and see in the area. However, the cottage and its surroundings are so relaxing, there is no need to go anywhere if you don't want to! I didn't want to leave and will certainly go back.

Really good cottage lovely gardens welcome pack spot on and the lemon cake was awesome Wi-Fi towards the end of the week was a bit poor but expected it as out in the country side .

The cottage is very well equipped, exceptionally clean and well located for visiting interesting towns and attractions.

We particularly enjoyed Ross on Wye, Monmouth, Forest of Dean and Cheltenham races. Anne, the owner, is very friendly and we appreciated the ‘goodies’ she provided on our arrival. No hesitation in highly recommending a stay here.

A very well maintained property that is surrounded by a beautiful garden and plenty of wildlife for your enjoyment.

Fully equipped with what you need for a holiday of two weeks. The Forest of Dean has a lot to offer the tourist. The hosts were a joy to meet and very helpful. A top accommodation thoroughly recommendable.

What an amazing place.

The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The large screen TV made watching the coronation a pleasure. But the loveliest of all were the beautiful grounds complete with a lake with geese on. A great place to stay. Thank you also for the food which you provided to give us a good start.

The accommodation is very clean, warm and comfortable.

There is a generous sized television with an extensive range of programmes available as well as books and games. The directions to find the property are excellent, especially the sunflower marker. The owners are very friendly and helpful without being obtrusive and the outside facilities are good and a pleasant place to be.

A peaceful and beautiful location.

Comfortable, clean and well equipped, the property is in a wonderfully quiet location, but only 7 miles from Gloucester.

The one minor point is the noise from the upper floor floorboards, they are pretty "squeeky"! That apart, everything was fine, and the owners are friendly and helpful.

This is a lovely, well presented, clean cottage set in a beautiful quiet village but easily commutable to places such as Gloucester, Ross-on-Wye and Tewkesbury.

The cottage is set within the grounds of the owners House, who were both very nice and helpful. It has a pretty rear garden, as well as an orchard leading to a large pond which is suitable for fishing. There's currently a lot of weed, which is a challenge, but there's plenty of Rudd. My son and I were fishing each evening for a couple of hours and caught lots. Nearby there are lovely walks or it's not far until you're in the Forest of Dean. This area is somewhere we know well, having stayed locally before, and it never disappoints. This cottage is certainly recommended. We have a 6 year old son and within 20-40 minute drive you can visit Beechenhurst, Dean Heritage Centre and Cattle Farm Park which are all great for young kids.

This property is a lovely place to stay, very nice friendly owners next door, the cottage was like home from home with comfort and facilities, and space to enjoy, the garden space was just stunning.

We as a family of four had a great time here. So relaxing and quiet. It was one of the best uk stays we have had as a family and thoroughly enjoyed it. I don’t really want to share it and keep it to our selves !! Fully recommend this place any time of the year. It is a perfect place to enjoy.

Thanks to Anne and Gary for making us feel so welcome. Every thing provided to feel home from home. Beautiful gardens and a lake to relax by, lots of animals, birds and wildlife. Lots of attractions in the area. Can't wait to go back again.

The cottage is very well furnished and well equipped, with everything you could need.

It is an ideal layout, with a bedroom and bath/shower room on the ground floor and upstairs. The setting is beautiful, surrounded by wonderful, colourful gardens. The sheltered patio at the back is ideal for sitting/eating outside, providing a great view of all the birds that visit the garden. A wonderful place to wander, with a small lake, orchard and lots of animals to see, including, lambs, goslings and pigs. Perfect hosts too!

The cottage was very well equipped with everything that a family or group would need.

Basics (washing liquid, washer tablets, cloths etc) were provided. The owners were lovely: very welcoming, friendly and helpful and provided a nice welcome pack. The garden and outside, which guests can use, are superb, with plenty of wildlife as well as the small holding animals. All in all a lovely place to stay and use as a base to explore the area.

What a delightful cottage!

The photos don't do it justice. It's not just the cosy comfortableness of the place, but it's the happy, tranquil surroundings as well. Sitting at the dining table by the french windows, or outside at various seatings in the garden, one can't help but be transfixed by the wild birds addicted to the 2 feeding stations, the hen yard behind, the rabbits, the bantam roosters strutting their stuff. The extensive wild orchards were in beautiful blossom mode. Anne and Gary are generous with their invitation to enjoy their own lovely garden (in the Open Garden Scheme) and the lake, where we enjoyed the antics of the 6 new goslings, their parents promenading them around and about, and various ducks and geese. We saw wild deer in the orchard that housed the old ewe and the 2 new lambs. A range of good places to visit close by, but it was the sweetness of the return to such a lovely home from home that made our week away very special. We shall return!

We were so lucky that Berry's Place Farm Cottage was available on our dates.

It was perfect! The cottage was spotless and contained everything we needed, including things that so many others places overlook, such as hooks on doors, a washing up bowl for the times a dishwasher was unnecessary and an empty cupboard for our groceries. But even that was nothing compared to the grounds. We didn't even have to go outside to enjoy the spring blossom, chickens and wildlife on the doorstep. Anne and Gary are very welcoming and helpful. Our only problem was that our stay wasn't long enough!

We loved the cottage & garden, the resident and visiting birds.

The owners were very welcoming and friendly. Being able to wander round the spacious grounds was a real treat. Will definitely visit again.

Our stay in their cottage was extremely comfortable and very homely. They are such lovely people and even took the time out to let our kids help feed the farm animals. The grounds are amazing and for a family of animal lovers it was right up our street! What an truly amazing experience and we will definitely be back again.

Anne and Gary were so welcoming and left us some lovely gifts which we enjoyed especially the lemon drizzle cake. The cottage is beautiful and has everything there you could possibly need. The garden and the pond were so lovely and it was very kind of Anne and Gary to let us share them. We loved the wildlife ,sheep, geese and especially the little group of chickens that visited the feeder near our patio. We would love to come back again as there was so much to see and do.

A delightful cottage in a beautiful part of the country.

Anne and Gary were amazing hosts and made us very welcome. We had daily visits from the resident chickens, a family of Moorhens and a pheasant, amongst other birds! We found plenty of places to eat out and a garden centre, with a very good cafe, literally across the main road, for breakfast.We would definitely like to return! Denise and Geoff Hammond

It was a wonderful place to stay with everything you could wish for.

Anne and Gary were brilliant hosts and the gardens were superb. We had 31 degrees every day and were very greatful for the loungers by the lake in the afternoon! It was the perfect place to relax and hope to be able to visit again.

The house was lovely and clean, everything that we needed for a self catering holiday.

However the gardens and the hosts were incredible, way beyond what we were expecting of the holiday.

Host provided a welcome basket including a yummy home made cake.

House clean and parking was directly outside front door for 2 cars. Directions could be better (it’s about 1/2 mile down the lane.) Also whilst WiFi offered signal very weak and had to use 4G.

Lots of animals and wild life to enjoy. Lots to do in the area but with a lake and garden to walk around it's a beautiful place to stay at home. We all enjoyed ourselves and found it very relaxing.

The perfect hosts! The gardens and wildlife were great. A superb place to chill out and relax without venturing off the property. Situated within easy reach of The Forest of Dean and lovely Cotswold villages. There would normally be lots to see and do but we were limited because of Covid restrictions. Things will only get better!

Fantastic stay!

Me and my girlfriend wanted to get away for a couple of days before Xmas and when we turned up it was all nicely decorated with a beautiful tree in the corner of the lounge. We loved it! It was exactly what we wanted and needed.

Beautiful comfortable cosy retreat.

The hosts, Anne and Gary, were very welcoming and provided an excellent welcome pack complete with home-made lemon drizzle cake and fresh farm eggs. The large garden and surroundings were a very relaxing environment. We found the house easy to find as it is just a turning off the main A40 which gave easy access to Gloucester city where we visited the recently renovated docks which are well signposted "Gloucester Quay" and is a short walk from the cathedral and the city centrewith its historic buildings including the New Inn, Bakers the jewellers and Beatrice Potter museum. . There are many interesting small towns and villages to visit as well as the Forest Dean. which was magnificent with the autumn colours, which makes it an ideal base if you want to tour around. In addition the house is in its own very beautiful surroundings so is a peaceful retreat We had no problems with the broadband and found it quite adequate. We enjoyed our stay so much that we hope to return again in less uncertain times.

Difficult to find.

Very poor instructions to the house. Had to ask a lot of people before we found someone who could direct us. Lovely grounds and friendly owners who live next door. Nowhere good to eat out and so we ate in a lot. The cottage had very creaky floor boards so if you were sleeping downstairs it was very noisy when people upstairs moved around. The broadband was extremely weak so almost useless.

One of the best cottages we've stayed in.

Well equipped and comfortable. Lovely welcome package, friendly owners and loveable old labrador. If I had to quibble at all, the shower is hard to control temperature-wise. Bus stop at the bottom of the lane for a car-free journey into Gloucester, Hereford and beyond.

This was a fantastic place to stay.

The cottage looked lovely from the outside and was equally nice inside - warm and comfortable with everything we needed. Anne and Gary (and Marley the dog) were very welcoming (with delicious lemon drizzle cake, amongst other things) and we loved exploring the grounds with the orchard and the wonderful lake. Thank you for letting us take some apples! The cottage is close to the A40 (not close enough to disturb the peace, though). One direction leads to Gloucester and the Cotswolds and the other to the Forest of Dean, so we were never short of things to do. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and I hope we can return one day soon.

We stayed as a family of four adults.

The accommodation is beautiful and very clean. The farm set in 9 acres has lovely gardens and a beautiful lake along with an abundance of fruit trees and plants and foliage. Being just off the A40 (2 mins) the location is superb for access to get to surrounding areas. The whole farm is stunningly beautiful. Anne and Gary are very welcoming along with Marley the dog. There is a food pack on arrival with eggs, milk, bread and home made cake. Anne's cakes are lovely and we purchased a few for friends and family back home. Well worth a visit. Don't forget to check out the piglets and geese and wake up to the cockerels in the morning!

We had a great time in Berrys Place Farm.

The Annex is very comfortable and clean. The garden is beautiful. We enjoyed the welcoming pack, the farm eggs were delicious. We also enjoyed walking around the farm, siting by the lake and collecting plums and apples to make deserts. The owners Anne and Gary are lovely, very kind and always helpful. I would love to stay in the farm with my family again as it was a very delightful experience.

We were welcomed by the host Anne (who was wonderful) with a lovely care package which saw us through our first evening after a long drive. I would most definitely stay here again in the future. It was like a home from home.

the House is lovely and so cosy, we felt at home straight away.

The hosts are lovely and friendly, and the chickens running around out the back of the property were a sheer delight for our two-year-old daughter. Would definitely recommend for a quiet, relaxing getaway.
