  • "Beautiful and homely cottage, looks teensy from the outside but big enough to accommodate 5 people comfortably."

Top floor only really suitable for under 5 foot 9 height and those steady on their feet due to height of ceiling in the shower and the curved staircase. Perfect location, comfortable beds and well equipped. Highly recommended.

We are glad you felt at home during your stay and that everything was as it should be. We hope we can welcome you back in the future. Kind Regards, Manor Cottages Property Owner

The plumbing in the bathroom needs attention due to the sink not draining away as quickly as it should. All in all a lovely stay apart from some minor maintenance issues.

The house had everything we needed. One thing I thought worth mentioning is looks like some repairs are needed in the upstairs bathroom as cracks in the wall but otherwise a smashing house - ideal for a small group or for 2.

  • "We were pleased to see the cottage looked as great as the photos."

Everything was clean and worked. The booklet on the coffee table was very clear and the recommendation of The 8 Bells Inn / The Bell was much appreciated- really enjoyed their food and there was a good atmosphere. It was nice and warm in all rooms but it was still nice to use the wood burner in the evenings, so the small supply of logs & kindling was much appreciated. The top bathroom is very cleverly designed, but would be hard for a larger person to navigate getting past the shower door & toilet. If you’re slim, then no problem. The bathroom the floor below shouldn’t be an issue as this is laid out differently (but a blind for that window would have been appreciated. Although not overlooked, it took some getting used to) In April, no school holidays, we had no issues with parking and were able to park very close to the property each time. We will definitely be returning.

Thank you for this comprehensive feedback which is much appreciated. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay at Stanley Cottage and look forward to welcoming you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

Ideally positioned in Chipping Campden. Nice touches with food items and cleaning materials which made things easy for us. Lovely, warm lounge, and comfortable beds. Nice garden too. Only annoying thing was that windows in the first floor bedrooms did not open. Apologies for breaking one water glass, which broke when I was stirring a powder in the glass! If I need to pay for this, please let me know.

It's easy to walk into Chipping Campden and there are plenty of coffee shops! The cottage has a lovely large kitchen breakfast room with French doors into the garden. We went in January and although the weather was variable it was one on the best places we have stayed. One small point, if you are 5'10" or over you are likely to bump your head. The ceilings are low!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Glad you had a lovely stay and enjoyed sampling the delights of Chipping Campden. We hope we can welcome you back again. Best wishes Manor Cottage Property Owner

  • "Generally a really lovely stay."

Comfortable beds, carpeted in places which made a cold NY stay cosy and warm. Plenty of places to sit in the living room and kitchen- we have already rebooked as we did feel it ticked all the major boxes we needed. A few pointers which have already been mentioned - the smoke alarm over the cooker is ridiculous and needs sorting immediately- it goes off every time you cook anything, open the oven…we have small children asleep and it kept waking them up when we were cooking dinner. Very easily rectified and a must. Secondly there is a slight lack of privacy in one of the bathrooms - a small blind would suffice. The other thing was that there is no dryer and it was very cold- we have small kids so used the washing machine but nothing dried for days! There isn’t much radiator space either so was a challenge! Swapping the washing machine for a washer/ dryer would make a huge difference. We are heading back in summer so this won’t be so much of an issue! Overall we did really like it- great location and chipping campden is wonderful.

  • "We stayed in Stanley Cottage for the first time in December 2022 and upon our return immediately booked it again for similar dates this year, December 2023."

We gave a favourable review last year but pointed out a few things which could be improved (for the owners eyes only) but since they have not made any improvements I feel the need to mention these things in my review. I had suggested that it would’ve been good to have had some curtains in the lounge and also to cover the patio doors and the floor to ceiling windows in kitchen to make it cosy in the evenings. There are no blinds to offer privacy in the first floor bathroom which can be overlooked by neighbours….this has been mentioned in other 2023 reviews but my previous comments were not taken on board by the owner. Another problem we encountered was the smoke detector sited immediately above oven so that whenever the oven door is opened during cooking the alarm is immediately set off (pointed out by me last year and by a subsequent phone call to the agent a week or two ago ….but not dealt with). My last comment would be to suggest that the washbasin in the first floor bathroom is very high and not practical or indeed easy to use. Also I should perhaps mention that the toilet seat in the bathroom did not stay up when used by males. Not very convenient. Also we were quite disappointed that there was not even a small Xmas tree or any Xmas lights/decorations to welcome guests at this festive time of year. Most other cottages in Chipping Campden were looking Xmassy as was the beautiful high street so we felt a bit disappointed that the owners did not see fit to enter into the Xmas spirit.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Stanley Cottage. We have passed on your comments/feedback to the Owner for review. They have taken your comments onboard and will look into addressing the matters shortly. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "We arrived at the cottage and we were pleased with the location."

It would have been good if the lamp in the window was on timer as very dark on arrival. On entering, we were initially pleased with the lounge and kitchen which were tastefully furnished and attractive. However, the first floor bathroom had no window coverings and the window next to the toilet was overlooked by a neighbour. We had to put newspapers up for privacy and warmth. We needed to use this room as my partner ,who is tall found the upstairs bathroom to0 low. The heated towel rail was switched off in this room and the bedroom. The main bedroom was chilly. We then found we could not operate the tv and there were no easy instructions in the welcome pack. We rang the owner and she couldn't help. She said that she would contact the office the following day. We therefore had no TV/ radio that evening. The following day ,i rang the office and they said a maintenance man would come out. Nigel arrived at 4pm and spent ages trying to work it out, he was really kind. Eventually, he advised us re the basics and the rest of our stay we managed BBC1only.He bled the towel rails which was a huge help , although the bedroom one never worked. The handle on the log burner was faulty and fell off, there was no fire grate set. The following day a second maintenance man called as we had reported that there were no batteries in the torches in the event of a power cut. We reported the log burner so it could be repaired before the next guests. As we were only there for 3 nights are stay was not as pleasant as we hoped/expected. If the welcome file was updated and more informative re TV it would have helped us. We noted that the bathroom windows had been reported by guests as far back ad Nov 2022 and nothing done. It seems sad and neglectful that the owners clearly didn't care about their guests comfort. We visit the Cotswolds often and have used this company many times, it was very disappointing to experience these faults for the price charged. Further small failings. The enamel teapot is red hot when boiling water used, not fit for purpose. The dressing table stool too low for mirror and mirror has no restraints, impossible to dry hair in comfort. No spare blankets or throws. No fairy liquid/dishcloth. We loved the location of this cottage and would stay here again if all points mentioned were corrected

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Stanley Cottage. We will mention to the HK you comment about the lamp, normally they tend to leave a light on if it's dark when guests arrive. Comfortable cottage with good facilities. Having read the reviews about the lack of blinds in the main bathroom we took some cardboard with us and fashioned our own! Worked well and I would not have been as happy to use without. Similarly, curtains, blinds or shutters for the living room would be welcomed! Would happily stay at this cottage again.

  • "There is a smoke alarm directly above the oven which means anytime you used the oven the alarm would go off repeatedly."

The position of the smoke alarm is completely ridiculous. The property was not cleaned well - cobwebs covering the doors, the wall above the shower and coming out from under the furniture in the single bedroom. This was unacceptable. The kitchen was very well equipped and the other areas very comfortable. If the listing had advised of all the very low beams upstairs we wouldn’t have booked as my husband and sons are all over 6 foot so that was a bit uncomfortable for them.

Thank you for providing this feedback and for highlighting an issue with the smoke alarm and cleanliness which we have passed on to the Property Manager. We do include in the website description the fact that there are steep stairs, and some low ceilings and exposed beams, as in many Cotswold cottages. We hope this didn't impact your stay. It is quite nicely decorated! The location is excellent with lovely shops very close and a wonderful pub (Eight Bells) just around the corner. The kitchen is well equipped so we were able to easily make a couple of our meals. The beds and linens were comfortable. Also, we agreed noise was not an issue at all. As much as we knew about the steepness of the stairs that led to the 2nd bedroom on the top floor, agility had nothing to do with getting up there. The beams in that portion of the house require full attention—especially when getting in and out of bed or getting dressed and I’m only 5’7”. We’d recommend the grout in the shower on the top floor get a good scrub and that trash in the kitchen and patio from the previous occupants be emptied before the next arrivals.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are pleased that you had a comfortable stay at Stanley Cottage and fully experienced its period features. Thank you for your suggestion, which has been passed onto our maintenance team. Apologies that the refuse collection was missed. This is usually collected on regular days each week. We hope you enjoyed exploring around Chipping Campden. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "We loved everything about our stay!"

!! I think the only notes are the lack of curtains in the living room and bathrooms (not much privacy at night— but should note I did see this in the reviews before booking and knew this was to be expected). Also, while it didn’t bother us, I do think it’s important for guests to know that because it’s on the main road, it is quite noisy from traffic (a lot of trucks!) during the day and into the early evening. If you’re a light sleeper, you’ll probably hear it on weekday mornings starting around 7:00. We definitely were not expecting that, since we’d never been to the area and weren’t aware of how busy the High St is. Of course this sort of noise also comes with having the old door and windows which are obviously part of the charm. But it was pretty noisy at times. Thankfully the noise doesn’t carry to the kitchen and back garden and we spent a lot of time in there…. And wasn’t enough to ruin our stay by any means. But just something for guests to be aware of. All in all, we have a wonderful stay and made some great memories. It was so cozy. Thank you so much!!

  • "We had a lovely stay at Stanley Cottage which was ideally situated on the High Street."

There are however two suggestions which would be very helpful to any other people that stay at the cottage. Firstly, the bathroom on the first floor should have a curtain or blind up at the window directly facing the back garden for privacy. Secondly, we used the cooker two evenings of our stay and the smoke alarm kept going off just from opening the door of the cooker. The smoke alarm is directly above the cooker which is most unusual to have an alarm in such a close position. We understand that smoke alarms are very important and necessary but repositioning of this particular one is suggested.

The cottage is perfectly suitable for 5 adults as it has two double bedrooms and two shower rooms which is great. The lounge with log fire is cosy and seats five people comfortably. A word of warning however for potential guests to be aware that the stairs leading to the top floor from the first floor landing are polished wood and fairly steep, so may not be suitable for the elderly, younger children, or anyone with a walking disability. After a great deal of urging they finally cooperated by keeping our money for two years and allowing us to reschedule the trip. Although the cottage was lovely, it was not as advertised. There was no dryer nor Google music as advertised and our biggest complaint was that we arrived weary from the trip there was no toilet paper, no napkins or paper towels, nor wash cloths in the bathroom nor soap in the bathtub or showers. Note: Due to the steps and split levels in the garden, children should be supervised outside at all times. Please also note the garden has a water feature, so again guests need to supervise children around this area too.

Please note an initial supply of logs & kindling is provided for the property between October until end of March; additional log supplies can be purchased locally.

This property offers the following short breaks:
