• "What a fabulous stay we had with our dog in Fenny Marina Cottage."

  The bungalow is exactly as described in the listing, and everything was spotlessly clean and well maintained. It contained everything we needed for a relaxing and restful stay. The garden is large and secure, so we didn't need to worry about the dog escaping. There is plenty of parking outside the property, which is in a gated marina. We look forward to staying again in the future.

  It was a surprise to see a small caravan park in the grounds that wasn’t mentioned in the listing. It would have helped if the garden furniture had been moved and the hedge was more established to give more privacy.

• "This is a beautifully clean and well maintained property."

  The beds were particularly well done, very comfortable and great linen. Having somewhere to sit out is great but would be useful to have a table in the back garden as eating in front where table is currently means facing the campers. Be prepared for regular trains passing especially in the early evening; we were counting, one every 15 minutes around 6-7. Nice to be able to walk straight on to the canal.

• "We booked this accommodation primarily for its lovely canal-side location, as we were looking for somewhere with good walking opportunities for our two dogs."

  Overall, we had a lovely stay. The bungalow was spacious, homely, well furnished and comfortable, and the generous size of the property and bedrooms gave us everything we needed for a relaxing break. There are, however, a few points that we feel would be helpful to mention and that could make an already lovely property even better. All three bedrooms overlook the caravan site at the front of the property, which meant there was less privacy than we had expected. This was particularly noticeable during the heatwave, when we wanted to keep the bedroom windows open at night. Had this been mentioned in the listing, it would simply have been useful to know in advance. We were especially attracted by the large lawned garden shown in the photographs and had imagined sitting outside with a drink while allowing the dogs some freedom to run around. Unfortunately, there were only two old wooden chairs in the garden and no table or suitable outdoor seating area. A comfortable set of garden furniture would make a huge difference and allow guests to really enjoy this fantastic outdoor space. There was garden furniture at the front of the property, but as this overlooked the caravans, it didn't provide the privacy we were hoping for and wasn't suitable for having the dogs off lead. The kitchen was generally well equipped, although a spatula would be a useful addition. We also found some plates in the cupboards that still had food residue on them, so it may be worth checking that dishes have been properly cleaned between guests. A lamp in the lounge would also be a nice addition to make the room feel a little more cosy in the evenings. Despite these points, we genuinely had a lovely stay. Due to the heat, particularly with two dogs, we didn't venture far and spent most of our time enjoying the property and its surroundings. The bungalow was spacious, comfortable and well located, and with a few small improvements, we feel it could be an even more enjoyable place to stay.

• "Not mentioned in the listing is that the patio area and main bedrooms are overlooked by a caravan site, of which two caravans appeared permanent based on the grass growth and home comforts around them."

  There is also a main railway line a few yards away. The poor fence repairs have nails and screws protruding from the timber and are a serious safety risk. The kitchen utensils had food deposits, rust, etc., and there were crumbs everywhere, so we had to clean up before we considered eating. Other areas were no better, with thick, dusty cobwebs, dirty windows and debris, but the beds were clean and very comfortable. A shame really, as the location is great for visiting places, generally very quiet, the accommodation is well planned and roomy, and there is a canal walk on your doorstep which also leads to the nearby Wharf Inn (highly recommended when there).

• "The bungalow is situated alongside the Oxford Canal that is unseen by a tall fence."

  On the other side there is a building housing a workshop for the Marina that is at the end of the garden behind a tall fence. The garden is enclosed and mainly grass, ideal for our dog to safely run around. The drive to the back of the property is next to the railway line. If you live in an area where there is lots of traffic then the railway may not bother you. But, if you live somewhere where it is quiet and you are a light sleeper then the railway may affect your sleep. There is a small caravan park (maximum 5 vans) at the front of the property next to the edge of the parking area. A laurel hedge has recently been planted (2ft tall) that will grow to act as screening between the bungalow and caravans. The caravans did not bother us as we used the back garden. As you enter the bungalow there is a hallway and then a step up into the property. There is plenty of hanging space and storage in the bedrooms. Kitchen is well equipped. Lounge/diner is spacious and comfortable. We visited three National Trust properties, Upton House and Gardens, Farnborough Hall and Charlecote Park. A nice bungalow in an unusual setting where you could walk around the inside perimeter of the Marina and look at the canal boats. You could hire a canal boat.

• "We enjoyed staying at Fenny Marina Cottage!"

  There was plenty of space for 5 of us, and our lab loved running around in the garden. The accomodation contains everything you could need and provides the perfect base for exploring. Accessibility to the shower provided a challenge to some members of our party - a shower cubicle with an electric shower would make this cottage perfect. Lovely walks beside the canal (the gorgeous weather helped!)

• "The cottage was perfect for our 2 week holiday."

  Loved being by the marina and seeing the boats. It is nicely furnished with well equipped kitchen. Beds are very comfy and the sitting room is a good size for 4 people. It was nice having the enclosed outside space for a dog to run around. Good walks along the canal and an easy stroll into the village.

• "The cottage was immaculately presented throughout."

  The instructions to gain access were also very clear and we found it and got inside without any problems. The location next to a narrowboat Marina on the canal is very picturesque. We did hear some noise from the adjacent train track, but it was absolutely not a problem. I would recommend anybody to come and stay at this nice cottage!

• "We had a lovely stay."

  Great accommodation. Had everything we needed. Very comfortable beds, etc. Gorgeous views. One problem. The switch kept tripping in the fuse box, and we had to keep climbing up to put it back on. Concerned the accommodation may need re wiring. Had the heating on, but didn’t have lights on all over the place, mostly only the lounge we were all together in. Might be worth the owners checking it out. Thank you. Hope to visit again one day

• "Clean and comfortable."

  Well equipped. Perfect location for visiting Gaydon motor museum which was the reason for our visit to the area. Enjoyed watching boats drift past on one side and trains on the other! Would definitely book again for our next museum visit.

• "The property is in quite a unique location, a canal marina."

  It could possibly get a bit noisy as it is next to a narrow boat repair building. Also it has a camping CL right in the front, not mentioned on listing. Some minor tweeks to property information folder,like, no information about what can or can't be recycled. No information on how to use 'white goods'. In a quiet location.

• "This is a lovely cottage, well equipped, comfortable and a great base to explore the area."

  We would have loved a couple of recliner chairs for sitting out as the wooden patio furniture is great for eating at but not that comfy for sitting reading/ soaking up the sun - but that's a very minor inconvenience. The garden is huge, more of a field really and full of wildlife, had a pheasant family visit every afternoon/evening as well as rabbits. The train line which runs up the side of the property is quite noisy but you get used to it. Splendid sunsets over the marina and a short walk along the canal to the Wharf Inn - we struggled a lot with the gate nearest the house out to the canal but the key fits the gate further up and that is much easier to use - think no more than one is well used and one isn't. Would be happy to stay here again if we were visiting the area

• "We were so pleased to have discovered Fenny Marina Cottage, nestled as it is in the Warwickshire countryside, The cottage itself was a charming haven, with high-quality furniture and fittings that made our stay comfortable and cozy (however, the door handles to the lounge & main bedroom are in need of maintenance)."

  The spacious accommodation was perfect for our family, including our energetic young labrador. The garden was a true delight, very large, fully enclosed and safe, allowing our dog to run freely and explore to her heart's content. It was a great relief to know that the Cottage could accommodate a place for a large dog. The village of Fenny Compton is a quaint English village and we found everything we needed at the well-stocked Co-Op, and the local pubs were delightful serving up delicious food in picturesque surroundings. Our time at Fenny Marina Cottage was so enjoyable that we've already decided to book another holiday there next year. The memories we've made are sure to stay with us for a long time, and we can't wait to return to this idyllic retreat. Mike & Family Devon/Somerset

• "A lovely quiet clean cottage by the canal."

  Comfortable beds and spacious throughout. A few extra Pyrex dishes would be good for taking vegetables to table etc . We were 6 and there was only 1 large Pyrex dish. Otherwise perfect! Thanks for the welcome pack as well.

• "Lovely , clean and comfortable ."

  Some milk , biscuits and cake provided . Quiet marina , though we didn’t realise it was right next to a train line so a little noisy at night . Bath and shower a little tricky as you have to lean over to reach the taps but we managed ok . We really enjoyed our stay and the owner was friendly and helpful . The two local pubs were good .

• "We stayed at the bungalow on the 15th November for a week it was nice and clean when we arrived and even though it was cold outside the heating had been left on so it was warm and cosy on our arrival."

  We found complementary tea,coffee, milk and biscuits which was a nice thought from the owner. They have not skimped on furnishings as everything was good quality, we had a slight problem with the shower but the owner arrived within 5 minutes to sort it, the one problem was the garden it was not enclosed so we had to keep our dog on a lead when she wanted the loo but we have been told by the owner that he will make it secure and I believe that he will as he only opened over the last few months and that is one of the next jobs. Would I stay there again the answer to that is yes and we look forward to going back next year

• "A great half-term get away."

  Great communication from the owners. The house was immaculate, well presented and spotlessly clean. There were many lovely surprises, biscuits, cake and milk. They had thought about the little things, dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll, hairdryer and tea/coffee. The towels and linens were all of good quality and well presented. Teenagers were happy being able to use netflix and had good wifi. Huge secure garden for our dog was perfect. The walks along the canal were beautiful on sunny autumnal days. The Wharf inn at the end of the road does a lively pub lunch and there are great road links too. We will be back!
