  • "The cottage was stunning and very spacious."

    With 3 bedrooms and three bathrooms it was perfect and the hot tub was a great hit. The mattress though on the ground floor was too hard. It was like laying on a board which was a shame. As others have mentioned a curtain up the glass on the front door would give privacy when going to the bathroom from the bedroom too. A good time was had by all in such a beautiful area.

  • "Lovely property we really enjoyed our stay."

    Downstairs bedroom ( like a previous review said) the mattress is awful could feel every spring so needs replacing urgently. Settee not great very low & no back support. Location beautiful & main bedroom just superb in every way. Kitchen well stocked with utensils etc but needs oven gloves & sharper knives ( blunt) & a new frying pan! TV frustrating no BBC or general live channels. Has BBc i.player etc & everything you can sign into but no standard channels. But this seems to be the norm these days. Needs a net curtain or something on front door for privacy whilst going from downstairs bedroom to bathroom. But....beautiful house in fabulous location.

  • "Beautiful property - the autumn leaves views were amazing from the hot tub!"

    Location was perfect for us, quiet and peaceful, but near enough some of the lovely Cotswold villages for a trip out. The cottage was well maintained - and very warm! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to anyone. Mattresses on beds possibly need some attention as one was very firm and another soft - but on balance, no concerns.

  • "Fantastic property and Landlord."

    The property was well-located in a lovely village to explore the surrounding areas. The property was well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Easy to communicate with Skyes Cottages for a couple of minor issues we faced and these were promptly solved (beware of potential limited phone signal around the property/village).

  • "No decent mirror in downstairs bedroom, difficult to dry hair or check image, a small 6" round mirror is a very poor/cheap alternative."

    Very uncomfortable seating in Lounge. Couldn't access BBC1, ITV, etc on TV. The curtains in main Upper bedroom should be black out. The first thing that I did on arrival was had to wash down the garden furniture, it was filthy and covered in bird muck and cobwebs. Garden chairs need cushions. All wall mounted mirrors are placed too low down as is the toy basin in the downstairs shower room.Extremely poor quality mattress and bedlinen in the downstairs bedroom. Not even a mattress protector provided. A word of warning should be provided on the website about very small showers that would be difficult for bigger clients to access.

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. As there’s already a large mirror in the ground floor bathroom, a smaller one was added in the bedroom to complement it and help meet guests’ needs. We’re sorry to hear there was an issue with the TV during your stay. We're always happy to help when contacted, and it seems the settings may have been unintentionally changed by previous guests without our knowledge. We understand that comfort is a personal experience, and it's unfortunate the lounge seating and the mattress in the ground floor bedroom didn’t quite match your preferences. In the main bedroom, blinds have been fitted on all windows except the gable window, which features light curtains designed to soften the morning light. We regret if this allowed in more brightness than expected. Outdoor cushion storage is located in the garden storage box, adjacent to the furniture. We sincerely apologise for the oversight regarding its cleanliness. This has been brought to our housekeeping team’s attention to ensure it’s properly maintained going forward. The compact sink in the ground floor bathroom was selected to comply with building regulations while aiming to maximise functionality in a small space. As for the showers, these are standard-size shower trays, with the exception of the larger one on the first floor. We’re sorry they didn’t quite meet your expectations.   • "This lovely, modern house is situated in a beautifully quiet and rural location yet still within easily reachable facilities by car."

    We found good dog walks from our doorstep and being located adjacent to a field, the lovely views from the property were uninterrupted. It was great to have a downstairs bedroom for an elderly relative and for all our party to have their own bathroom. We certainly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to our friends and would definitely revisit in the future.

  • "The downstairs Bathroom is small, the sink is tiny, the shower barely enough room to turn around."

    It would be helpful if you put coat/ towel hooks on the back of the bathroom doors as there is very little hanging space. On the plus side, we arrived when snow was on the ground, so very cold, the under floor heating was great, the property never felt cold.

  • "The most amazing little find!"

    We had a beautiful weekend at 4 Wellacres. The cottage is beautiful inside and out, cosy, clean and well equipped. The cottage had more than enough space for 6 adults to enjoy a weekend together but also not be on top of one another. The location is brilliant being so close to Burton on-the Water, Stow on-the wold, Daylesford farm shop and various other stunning Cotswolds villages. All in all it gets a 10/10 from all of us. Thank you again for having us!

  • "When we arrived at the property, we let our dogs out into the "enclosed garden" only to find that it was not enclosed, and the dogs escaped through an un-gated side entrance."

    Fortunately, the maintenance team addressed this issue the next day by blocking the 3ft pathway with a pallet, which effectively resolved the problem. Thankfully, the dogs were unharmed, but the property should not be described as dog-friendly with an enclosed garden. On the surface, the property's cleanliness seemed fine. However, as we began using the facilities, it became clear that the cleanliness was not up to the expected standard. We found hairs in the kitchen drawers, tea-stained mugs, dirty pans and cutlery, crumbs in the oven, layer of grime onto of oven's extractor fan and fridge (both at eye level) and cobwebs throughout, to name some of the issues. Additionally, the upstairs area had a stale smoke odor and clearly needed a deep clean. Sykes did offer to re-clean the property during our stay, but this was halfway through our visit, which was inconvenient. We didn't want a cleaner there while our belongings were in the property, nor did we want to deal with the awkwardness of having the property re-cleaned while we were there. We also didn't want to restrict ourselves to staying at the property when we wanted to be out enjoying the Cotswolds. The property should have been properly cleaned before we arrived.

    Thank you for your feedback regarding the property. We appreciate your comments regarding the garden and are glad that we were able to act so promptly in arranging a temporary fix for your stay. In the main the garden is enclosed with fencing but accept the alleyway which is used for access for the gardener has been left open. The way that the retaining wall abuts the alleyway does make it difficult to put a gate on and yet enable access for a lawn mower but the owner has been made aware and will look at possible options. The property however is dog-friendly and we do ask that no dogs are ever left unsupervised during stays at our properties as we can not guarantee a secure space. We are aware of the cleanliness issues you raised. These were not raised during your initial contact in respect to the garden gate but on day 2 of your 4 day stay and we did send a cleaner out that day but upon making contact you mentioned you weren't at the property and we didn't access following your request to be present. We did subsequently try to re-arrange again with you for the following day but you did not want to be disturbed which we respected. We are sorry we were not able to have the chance to sort the issues out for you during your stay but we hope you enjoyed your time exploring the Cotswolds. Stow-on-the-Wold 4.5 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 8 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 16 miles; Cheltenham 23 miles; Oxford 31 miles.

The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh lies on the Fosse Way Roman Road in the northern Cotswolds and boasts many elegant 18th century buildings, which are home to traditional inns, serving real ales and home-cooked food, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also boasts it's own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the town, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Less than five miles away is Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. It lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham.
