  • "We recently spent a week at The Old Cottage Hospital Annex in Burford and absolutely loved it."

The place was warm, cosy, and inviting — a true home away from home. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and much appreciated. The annex is surprisingly spacious, with lovely furnished rooms and comfy beds. The location is ideal — tucked away in a peaceful spot yet just a short stroll from the heart of Burford. One of our favourite features was the charming little courtyard. Although the weather wasn’t quite warm enough to sit out, it added a lovely touch and we can imagine how perfect it would be on a sunny day. The bathrooms were spotless, with powerful hot showers and soft fluffy towels. Overall, it was a fantastic stay and we’d happily return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable getaway in the Cotswolds.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and loved the property and location. We hope we can welcome you back again. Best wishes Manor cottages Property Owner

  • "We were a little apprehensive as there were no reviews to refer to as the Old Cottage Hospital Annexe is new to the lettings market, however the owners have clearly done their homework as The Annexe has everything we needed and more."

The property is beautifully decorated throughout and the lounge area is cosy and welcoming. The kitchen area is well stocked with crockery & utensils. Each bedroom has a delightful en-suite, one with a luxurious bath tub. There is no garden, however the enormous sliding doors from the hallway into the courtyard allowed in both daylight and fresh air. The Annexe is well situated within Burford for access on foot to the high street and elsewhere by road. NB A torch (in the basket under the sink) is useful when returning on foot in the dark as the last stretch of pavement from the nearby Lamb Inn is not lit but the welcoming glow of the entrance gates are easily seen.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us in Burford. It's in a great location, walking distance to the high street and has off street parking with a car charger. We actually got the streetlight opposite repaired by the council a few days after your visit - so there’s more light on a stroll back from dinner! We would love to welcome you again soon for another stay with us. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful, spacious property with everything needed for a comfortable stay."

Friendly owner who checked we had arrived safely and sorted a very minor problem immediately. We enjoyed the lovely treats left for us in the welcome pack. The property was in the centre of Burford with shops, cafes and pubs close by yet it was very quiet and peaceful with the bonus of secure off road parking. We highly recommend a stay here!

Thank you for your lovely comments, it's a beautiful property in a great location and we are delighted you enjoyed it too. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

BURFORD

Swinbrook 2.4 miles; Little Barrington 3.5 miles; Minster Lovell 5.6 miles.

Burford is possibly one of, if not THE most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located mid way between Oxford and Cheltenham (25 mins each away) it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit.

The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits!

With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.
