Warm and comfy. A bit hard to find in the dark. More traffic noise than I’d anticipated.

"We had a lovely stay at 5 Packhorse."
The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfy.
Garden was spacious and secure.
We didn't realise that the lady next door was a dog-sitter, so there were loads of other dogs.
However, they were all very well behaved and didn't pose a problem.

"Great mini break, very comfortable cottage with everything you need."
We had a great time with mixing a couple of trips out in the Cotswolds and chilling with a book and a beer in the garden that provided both Sun and shade. The cottage is in a quiet location which suited us down to the ground. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting some time away.

"A cosy, low doorway, cottage that has been tastefully updated and modernised."
Good modern kitchen with large fridge freezer and good oven and other white goods. Kitchen tap needs securing. Good modern bathroom with shower in bath. Bath drain needs cleared. Nice lounge with comfy seating and good sized TV and decent internet. Couch needs Febreze from previous dog owning visitors. Comfy bed with plenty of storage space in room. On street parking in quiet cul-de-sac road.

"Garden is definitely not dog safe."
Boundary is hedged with gapes the path leads around to front gate which you cannot close as post is missing, we used wheelie bins to stop our dog from getting out onto the main road. Carpet on top step of stairs is loose which you cannot close as catch your foot on. A few hundred pounds to ensure a safe holiday for dogs and children have not been spent on this property

"When we arrived the front gate was hanging off, not suitable as it's dog friendly and near a busy road."
The cottage had clearly not been hoovered upstairs as clumps of dog hair on carpet. The stairs are totally unsuitable for elderly and it should be advised in description. I understand the cottage is very old however it should say in your description. The garden was overgrown and there were 3 places my small yorkie could have got out. The garden was mowed on Wednesday. Should all be done before arrival and all the hedges overgrown. I would say the garden is not dog proof as far as we could see.
We are really sorry our cottage didn't match your expectations and would like to respond to some of the points you have raised.
We had already booked a carpenter to fit a new gate post as the old one had become very wobbly. We were unaware it had actually broken so apologies. The new gate post was fitted on July 4th. We have addressed the dog hairs found with our housekeeping company and have also arranged for the upstairs landing and stairs to be recarpeted this July. The stairs are narrow and steep as is common in traditional 400 year old stone thatched cottages and will look to add this to our description.
Regarding the garden we have been very fortunate that we have only been empty for a few days each month this year, and so our gardener is attending the garden every 2 weeks attending to the hedges and lawn and it is sadly impossible to organise the grass to be cut on changeover days as they are so irregular as we accept bookings from 2 nights onwards. The garden is surrounded by hedges but is not fully dog proof as small dogs can find gaps. We will make this more clear to guests and have also just added another wooden gate into the garden itself to help keep the larger dogs inside.
Thank you again for your feedback which is always useful to help us go that extra mile for our guests and we will do all we can to ensure future guests have a very enjoyable stay at Packhorse.

"Beautiful character cottage, very well equipped and a nice comfy bed."
Everything was clean and the huge grassy, dog-friendly garden was thoroughly enjoyed by our large bouncy German Shepherd. The shared walkway with the neighbour was a bit busy as they had builders in, but nice people with friendly dogs (behind a gate). We had glorious hot sunshine for our week so the only tiny criticism would be that some garden loungers would be an asset, however there’s a nice table & chairs so you can sit and eat outside. Local pub isn’t walkable to if you’re over 60 and local Co-op’s prices were exorbitant so take some provisions! Coffee & wine provided by owner which was a nice touch. We had a nice relaxing week, thank you!

"Lovely, quaint little thatched cottage with a great sized garden."
The cottage felt nice and cosy which was perfect for our mini honeymoon. The bed was super comfy and the cottage had everything we needed. We enjoyed being away from the towns and cities but still close enough that we could pop to shops and have days out.
Our dog loved the garden, the only downside for us was that there is a shared access path in between the cottage and garden. It isn’t used much but there is a metal gate to the neighbouring house which you can see through, our dog can be a bit reactive sometimes to other dogs (we are working on this) the neighbours do have dogs which were out quite a bit due to the lovely weather. We just had to adjust when letting our dog out.
The only other thing that we found was that there are a few walks around the cottage but they seem to all have stiles which we have a big dog and he won’t go over them. We did find two nice parks though that were only about an 8 minute drive from the cottage.
Overall, the cottage is beautiful, cosy and was just what we wanted for a nice break away. We would definitely recommend.

"Enjoyable stay at the cottage."
It is well situated to explore the local area. The garden is a bonus. There is quite a lot of noise from the road. We ate at the cottage each day and found the kitchen lacking in a few things e.g casserole dish , cheese grater and it would have been helpful to have a washing up scourer and cloth in the bathroom for the shower . The cottage just lacked a few of the things that would make our stay home from home , bins and mirrors in the bedrooms.
