  • "An amazing getaway hideout for our honeymoon."

We stayed on island Yurt for a week the setting is perfect and so peaceful. Our Yurt was clean and ready on arrival the owner met us and showed us around. Kitchen contains all pots, pans and cutlery with kettle, toaster and microwave with grill, fridge with small top freezer box and a dishwasher. Bathroom with good size shower and instant hot water, large comfy bed, sauna, hot tub, firepit, BBQ and reclining chairs all in a good outside space set on the scenic lake. A small area exists at the back of the Yurt for parking which is handy for unpacking and packing, there is also a small rowing boat with is fun to cruise around the lake. The wildlife around the lake is amazing with Australian Black swans, Canadian Geese, Heron, Squirrel and some of the most beautiful dragonfly you'll see. With permission the owners are happy for you to fish, caught lots of Roach and Rudd but not carp as conditions were extremely hot for the week. Location is ideal for exploring the cotswolds sited 10 miles north of Cheltenham with easy access to the A46 with Evesham and Tewkesbury Close by for shops. Had we not gone out exploring we wouldn't have seen a soul so peaceful is the location but owners on hand via a quick call if any queries. Wouldn't hesitate to rebook fantastic place.

  • "I’m hesitant to leave a bad review because the owners were lovely and very helpful but I want to leave a review that I wish I had seen before I booked, so I’m going to start with the good feedback first: - the owners are very kind, approachable, accommodating and helpful."

    - the view was stunning and it was lovely to be so near the ducks and geese and swans everyday. - the hot tub was wonderful! We spent lots of time in it and we absolutely loved it. Okay, now the bad feedback: - it’s been commented on a lot and I have to say, most of the weight of my score is based around the cleanliness of the place. I’ve stayed in other yurts before, so I know what to expect, but it was very clear that the place doesn’t get a regular clean, or that it certainly doesn’t get a regular deep clean. The tops of the doorframes were thick with dust, we needed to look under the bed to plug a wire into the dvd player and it was the same under there, plus there were several very large spiders whose webs were clearly not fresh. When we walked in, the place smelled of bleach which was fine, but as the days went on, whatever the bleach was masking came out and became very unpleasant. My partner had to put tiger balm under his nose to mask the smell so he could sleep at night. I think, given the tariff of the yurt, as standard, the property should be properly cleaned in between every visit because a consistent upkeep of cleaning would 100% improve the cleanliness of the yurt. - the cleanliness also extends to the cooking tools: the outdoor bbq was full of spiders and when we lit the bbq, I think we may have burned a nest of spiders because there was a lot of popping and crackling. Not a cleaning issue with the fire pit but the grate was broken so we couldn’t make use of it. - the bathroom has no facilities to hold your toiletries or even a towel rack, which isn’t the biggest issue but it doesn’t reflect ‘luxury’. Plus there is no blind or curtain on the window in the bathroom, which isn’t ideal. - the bins are located in a drawer in the kitchen which is a few feet from the bed, so the smell starts to ripen where you sleep, quite quickly. - the sauna gave us an electric shock, so we stopped using it. To be fair, we didn’t report this to the owners because we forgot to. - the heater was temperamental - there were no basics to get you started, cooking-wise ie no salt, pepper, oil etc. We ended up leaving a day early and the owners didn’t even question it, so not sure how regularly that happens or if they just didn’t register that we were leaving early. If you’re looking for something rustic and outdoorsy, this will be perfect, but if you’re looking for ‘luxury’ I’m afraid to say this doesn’t live up to that standard, at all.

Hot tub was lovely and really enjoyed messing around in the little rowing boat on the lake! My husband swam every day, accompanied by the ducks and two black swans who all visited us everyday - they would have happily joined us IN the yurt had it not been for our dog, Mabel, who thought that was a step too far! Cooked jacket spuds and baked Camembert in the fire pit! A wonderful mix of ‘glamping’ and nature. Feel rejuvenated and ready to face reality! Will definitely go back!

  • "What a lovely little holiday this was."

So relaxing and away from the world. Lovely local pubs and a nice fish and chips shop what we found 8mins up the road. Which was also nice. Inside the yurt wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. But for us it was everything what we needed. My honest opinion tho, it could do with a good deep clean and abit of tlc in places but overall this didn't bother us. This is just feed back for the owner to take on board. We would still come back . Owner was very friendly and left us to put own accord. Top bloke. We did some fishing, the hub tub was lovely and sauna. We used the BBQ one night and the film projector kept us entertained on the rainy nights. The ducks are hungry little monkey and they would be waiting at the back door every morning waiting for some food. I love the wildlife so this was right up my street. I named a few of the ducks as they was pretty funny to watch. They obviously was very used to humans and they sat inches away from us. The family of goose and black swans came and visited us every day too. And the 2 herons sat close to there willow trees. So loads of wildlife to explore. We also had another yurt which my mum and dad stayed at. My dad's a big fishing guy and he caught some good sized fish. So there are some nice carp in there. Overall the surrounding kind of out lay the little points I said what need improving. But till would make a better experience next time. Thanks again and hopefully see you again in the future The mckeons And the head family's

During our stay the weather was consistently foul so we were not able to use the outside cooking or relaxing facilities much but the hot tub was lovely during gaps in the rain. The projector was useful ,the fire was very efficient and the shower lovely and warm. Personally I found the cooking facilities quite complicated but that was a minor issue. The dog enjoyed sitting under the canopy watching all the wildlife and experiencing all the different smells on his walks. A good place for “ outdoor “ people.

The yurt is so comfortable and has everything you need. We used the BBQ Hot plate most nights and had some lovely meals. The hot tub is incredible and what a view!!! We followed days fishing and relaxing with a hot tub and then used the projector for a film each night (using our amazon fire stick). The fishing was great which kept my husband very happy too. We had never before visited this part of the country but we will be back. Just beautiful and after 7 days we still feel there is so much more to see and do. We would highly recommend to anyone. We will be back. NB. I have a disability and limited mobility but the Island Yurt was very comfortable with only one step to contend with (which I think I read they can provide a ramp for). The shower is walk in aswell, making it very accessible got such a unique holiday home.

The Yurt was warm and well equipped, and the views over the lake were most welcome in the early morning light. Soaking in the hot tub at the lakeside watching the waterfowl was just sublime. There were however two minor issues that have to be addressed. 1. The bathroom / toilet window requires a frosted panel installing. 2. The shower tray overflows when in use, the water spilled out into the toilet area as the drainage was not adequate enough to cope with the deluge of water from the shower unit.

We relaxed in the sauna and hot tub most evenings just watching the wildlife on the lake.. we ate of the bbq each night and made great use of the fire pit, keeping us warm until the sun went down. Stay away if you don't like spiders, cobwebs and have expectations of thorough cleanliness. However, there's nowhere like it (at an affordable price anyway), to detox from technology and the daily grind. Watching and feeding the waterfowl is always therapeutic, as is lounging in the hot tub. The rainfall shower may not look much, but gives you a truly refreshing shower. More coffee/tea mugs are needed - we had to keep washing by hand instead of using the dishwasher. There's a home cinema for DVDs, but the sound was a bit low at this time. Not for those who can't live without internet and/or TV , but phone signal is good. A fabulous place for getting away from it all without breaking the bank.

But do expect the most beautiful and tranquil setting, with privacy needed when you want to get away from it all. Spending time relaxing in the hot tub everyday looking out onto the lake and nature perfect! Cooking in the evenings on the fire pit was so good! My partner and myself caught lots of perch and roach, plus to top it off we also caught three beautiful carp, 15lb, 21lb and 25lb all returned safely to the water. Upon reading past reviews we had high expectations of a romantic luxury break but we were pretty disappointed to find the yurt very dated, the outside area absolutely covered in cobwebs/dirt. The stargazing skylight was so scratched and dirty you couldn’t see out of it in the daylight. Water in the hot tub very murky as if it had never been cleaned out prior to arrival. I then went to use the bbq however only one side would light. Drinking glasses all chipped pretty much all crockery very dated. Nothing matches!! We were absolutely plagued by flys the entire time we were there. So generally a pretty disappointing time! Wildlife however on another league you could spend hours just watching all different species of birds and the fishing was great! We personally will not be returning in the future.

To top it off we were visited in daylight by Rats running along the decking and just sitting by the door and window. They seemed to be coming from under the hot tub.
