  • "Little Acre was lovely and we had a nice stay."

We did have an issue when the fridge/freezer stopped working on the day we arrived but the owners attended the very next morning, with a temporary replacement, which we appreciated. The only concern we had, is the main entrance patio doors, in the kitchen did not lock securely. The key turned in the lock but the other side was bolted and this bolt continually dropped. The owner said he was aware but that the doors needed to be replaced. I was worried our dog could push against the door and get out and although the garden is vast, it is dog safe, not dog secure; this is stated on the cottage listing info but the faulty door was a concern. I would definitely recommend the Cotswolds cottage - the owners were lovely and it is a central location to explore.

  • "Very unhappy, the cottage was very dirty and hairy ,cobwebs, dusty, kitchen cupboards dirty and baking tins dirty and rusty!"

!!!! Window were dirty and the glass doors had no key and the bolts didn't fit unless you ent outside and banged them shut ! Did feel secure at all . Having one small bath towel is unacceptable and as for the owner complaining, what can I say .a 2 star not a 4 star . Won't be using sykes again

Hi Elaine, Thanks for your constructive feedback. The main glass doors in the dining room area do open and as you are aware you found the key and had these doors open during your stay. As when we arrived, these doors had not been locked. The property is an old barn conversion with wooden frames, during the summer months the wood does become stiff. You did inform us that you didn’t have enough towels so we came to the property and put extra bath towels in the airing cupboard. You did have 4 bath towels out already (these were not hand towels). As you are aware we supply one bath towel each & you also have access to a washing machine if you need to wash anything during your stay. However this was unnecessary in this case as you did use more towels that were in the airing cupboard during your stay. As owners we do everything to ensure that our guests have an enjoyable stay. We will always take feedback onboard, but unfortunately in this case I do not agree with your comments. If you’d like to discuss it further I’d be more than happy to do this via Sykes. Thanks Chloe Property Owner

  • "We very much enjoyed our week at Little Acre."

It was spacious and comfortable and extremely dog friendly. We had two with us who really enjoyed the garden which is more like a field, so perfect for running around in. We did some really long walks which the local town of Evesham lists on the internet, plus we worked out our own. Visited National Trust properties, Cotswold Woldlife Park, Stratford on Avon etc, all within easy reach. Would very much recommend. The showers were great, kitchen well equipped and plenty of hot water. There were a couple of cleanliness issues but we put them right and would thoroughly recommend. Thanks for a fabulous holiday.

Thank you Laura for your feedback! We’d love to welcome you back to Little Acre. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely."

On arrival there was no hanging space in the double bedroom but the owners came and put up a sufficient rail within a day. The bedroom could have done with a mirror and the chest of draws is very hard to open. It was strange to have a tv in there but it didnt work, no ariel cable. The lounge TV is not fully smart with some channels missing. We did find it rather dusty under the sofa and other places. That said, it's a beautiful well equipped cottage in fabulous surroundings, and very comfortable. Unfortunately we couldn't figure out how to use the coffee machine. It's the first cottage which didn't have a welcome pack, just a pint of milk would have been nice. The weather wasn't brilliant but we got out to see many villages. Unfortunately one of my party fell out of bed on day one. Later we had to call an ambulance and he had broken a rib, so this hindered our trip as he was in alot of pain. It was a nice couple of weeks and very relaxing. I had to keep a constant eye on my small dog as there are plenty of places for him to slip through into neighbouring fields, which he did, but luckily came back. It's not a part of the country I would particularly want to visit again but we enjoyed it.

  • "Fantastic accommodation set in an idiotic countryside location."

Locals very friendly especially at the club in Church Lench and the pubs around Harrington. Only small issue was the lacking in enough toilet paper, kitchen towel, tea towels and fire wood for our three night stay. Maybe we had missed on the joining instructions that we should provide these ourselves. These were just very minor issues that did not impact on our enjoyment of our stay.

Hi Paul, We are glad you enjoyed your stay and all that the local area has to offer. Ref tea bags etc, we only provide a small qty as we expect guests to provide for themselves, we also only provide a firewood starter pack, but we did notice you had used all that was left. The property was left in a clean state, but for your awareness the downstairs windows were left open, fortunately we went over yesterday so were able to close these before the thunderstorm. Thanks again for staying we hope you had a safe journey home. Property Owner

  • "This property is lovely."

Very comfortable, good quality bedding. Very well fitted out kitchen. Very large garden. In a beautiful location within very easy reach of Worcester. We were so pleased as we drive up the long drive. I was disappointed that the garden wasn’t secure, I always choose enclosed on the filters but can see now this isn’t the same as secure, there is a note on the details about not secure. We had to keep an eye on the dogs which was a shame and did have visits from 2 large (friendly) dogs I’m guessing from neighbours. There was a real issue with cleanliness, I wonder if this was a one off as can’t see anyone else mention. The fridge was obviously not touched as evidenced by the out of date curdled milk. There was biscuit wrappers on the floor in the bedroom and one of the toilets hadn’t been cleaned. It almost seemed like someone had rushed the clean as some of the kitchen cupboards were dirty and I felt the need to wash anything before using it. It was a lovely property and we had a great stay but I do think it needs a thorough clean.

  • "What a gem!"

We had a wonderful 5 days at Little Acres Cottage as a couple with three dogs. The location of the cottage is fantastic, you are very private, with plenty of distance to the very few neighbours, and yet many interesting destinations in the Cotswolds are within easy reach. It is very quiet, except at peak times in the morning and evening there are hardly any cars at all and in the cottage you can't hear them anyway. The property is huge and great for dogs. The fence is not entirely dog-proof, but we don't leave our four-legged friends outside without supervision anyway, so this wasn't a problem. We watched squirrels and buzzards on the property and saw deer in the neighbouring field from the upstairs window, it was very idyllic. The cottage itself is very comfortable and cosy and has everything you need. We were especially delighted about the great kitchen and the big bath tub and the nice living room with the big settee, fireplace and TV, perfect for chilling on a rainy day in November. There are (small) beds, bowls and treats for dogs, as well as a thick folder with activity suggestions and tips. The mudroom in the entrance area is also very practical and the stone floor on the ground floor is easy to keep clean with dogs. Unlike many other holiday homes, dogs are allowed on the upper floor, but as there is carpet, you should make sure that their paws are really clean beforehand. We carried our dogs upstairs and downstairs because there are loveley wooden stairs which were a bit too smooth for our old dogs, but that was no problem at all. We had a great time here and were even able to extend a day at the last minute as there was a small gap left after our booking. Thanks to the team at Syke Cottages and the owners for their flexibility. We can warmly recommend this cottage, especially for romantic couple holidays, dog owners or families, and would love to come back.

Plenty of garden space for my dog to run round! A couple of minor niggles but owners are already addressing them (and very good communication from the owners too). Separate utility area meant dog meals could be prepared away from main kitchen. Bowls, mat and treats provided too which was a nice touch. Would recommend and will definitely be staying here again.

  • "Good points: Clean, comfortable beds, comfy settees, great views of countryside, fallow deer and grouse visitors to the garden."

Not so good: garden not secure for 1 dog let alone 4. Curtains downstairs are not full width of the windows, 1 plug for 4 sinks, electric gate has a mind of it's own! Electrics blow when you try to use the hob as well as the cooker

Hi Valerie, Thanks for your feedback, I just wanted to thank your for visiting Little Acre and to reply to some of your feedback, Security for pets, as discussed on the phone a week before your visit we do not advertise that the property is secure for dogs but that we merely welcome, but our expectation is that you always watch your dogs when they are outside for multiple reasons 1. Their safety 2. The safety of the local wildlife 3. So that you can clear up after them We have now replaced the plugs so thank you for this feedback The gate seems to be working fine so I’m not sure what the issue was here? We have also now replaced the oven and hob so again thanks for the feedback on this issue. Once again thanks for your feedback, we do all we can do provide the best experience for our guests so your feedback is invaluable. Thanks Jamie and Chloe Property Owner
