What guests are saying
The property is in the process of being improved so please bear this in mind when reading this review.
There are good facilities for sleeping with 8 of the bedrooms with ensuite facilities and a good family size bathroom with bath and shower, all recently refurbished. A sliding door between the ensuite and bedroom would be good though just for a little more privacy. There is a good heating system controlled in each room which was good. We were disappointed with the lounge and dining area as these only comfortably seated 7 - 8 people but we adapted and it worked ok as the group tended to split depending on conversation!. The property is on a very busy A road so noisy during the day. The wall onto the road is in disrepair so area in front of the house isn't secure from the road. When I spoke to the owner he was aware of this and would attend to it. The owner was very helpful and approachable and listened to my concerns and explained the property was a work in progress. He had wanted to provide good sleeping facilities while keeping the character of the property, for a good cost for larger groups, which the property does. An information file with local info ie Hospital, Doctors, equipment information, Bin days etc would be good. The property is ideal for visiting the local area and seeing all the sites, which we did as blessed with good weather. We had a good holiday in a comfortable property at a good cost. As mentioned I did speak with the owner about all the issues as I didn't want to just publish a review which highlighted some negative aspects (for us anyway) and we did make the house work for us and had a good time.
Property is very out dated, it was covered in dust and cobwebs, and very dirty, rooms were tiny and all beds are against the wall, not room to unpack until clothes, some rooms have draws but full of bed sheets, that smell musty!
The kitchen, if you can call it that is tiny, and disgustingly dirty! All saucepans broken, cooker was awful, doesn’t work, 1 gas hob out of 6! Oven took 2 hours on max to cook chips! There are only 6 chairs around a very squashed in table, for a house for 15 people?? And the lounge only have 4 seats! Needs some major work and a deep clean. The outside areas are a dumping ground of broken appliances, a cement mixers, buckets of dirty paint/musty water! Avoid!!
