  • "Excellent holiday cottage in a superb remote location."

Seriously well equipped (could do with an oven-proof casserole though) and nicely decorated. Highly recommended for those who like holidays in a wild, remote spot with a cosy retreat to return to at the end of a bracing day-alternately just stay indoors in this brilliant cottage and admire the scenery through the kitchen window!

So quiet and peaceful. This is our third visit and I’m sure it won’t be the last. We had everything we needed and we loved the cosy evenings by the log burner. A great place for walking and beautiful scenery and conveniently situated for Doolin, Lisdoonvarna, the Cliffs of Moher and many other places and attractions.

The only slight negative was really poor WiFi which was tricky with it being so rural and no landline / mobile network so it felt quite isolating and made planning / booking things / searching stuff difficult. Other than that we had a great holiday.

Was promised a call to see how we were settled and to be given instructions regarding the central heating controls but we never received that call so couldn’t control central heating. Cleanliness - overall clean but there was broken glass under the dining table so spent 30 minutes sweeping the floor to avoid our 1 year old stepping on any broken glass. Property is lovely in a lovely location but had this been a hotel I would have complained about the broken glass and lack of interest in us once we were in the property.

  • "An excellent stay that didn't disappoint."

We were fortunate in that ours was the final week long booking before the pandemic lockdown and indeed, Ireland was locking down all around us during our stay. But this cottage is situated in a rural, isolated spot on the west coast of Clare and was ideal for the circumstances. The cottage is modern but with comfy and cosy touches that made it feel very homely. A few small points for the owner to consider for improvement. The mugs were stained and some were chipped - a new set needed. Also, a 'Welcome Pack' with information on arrival would be beneficial to explain for example the garbage disposal/recycling set-up as we wanted to do our bit but were slightly confused as to what went where and when it all went. Also to explain little things like the control for the skylight in the main en-suite double. I slept the first night with it open and the early morning light woke me earlier than necessary. I texted the owner who swiftly responded to say that the control panel was on the door frame - as it was white on white, it wasn't easy to see. I appreciated the owner being so responsive but felt guilty for having to disturb him in the first place. An information pack on arrival would answer these little questions. But in all, excellent and highly recommended. If we were to ever visit beautiful County Clare again, I would definitely consider a return to the Farmhouse.

It was so homely we have got to our own home and it doesn't feel like home anymore and we are missing how open the cottage is! The fire is perfect for a cold evening and the bedrooms and bathrooms are so prefect. We will be staying back here again. A few little broken bits in the house but couldn't fault as been so busy I cant imagine when they would have had time to fix them!

  • "It is such a beautiful cottage and place to be."

The house is really modern and has everything you need. We had no problems with the communication to the lessor. And i also have to say, that the cottage has a perfect location. Near to Doolin and Lisdoonvarna, but nevertheless absolutely quiet and privacy. Perfect! All people were so friendly, doesn't matter where we were. You don't have to speak perfect English to understand. When they noticed that you are not from there, they spoke slower. My family and I are avid of all these beautiful impressions. The house, surrounded by beautiful nature, the beautiful and small villages, all the kind and friendly people, everything were quiet beautiful. We hope we will come back as soon as possible.

  • "An excellent stay."

A welcome pack with information about the cottage facilities (eg remote control of the bedroom roof-light), local facilities, bin collection day and where to leave the key on departure would have been appreciated. A visitors’ book would also be useful as recommendations/experiences can then be shared. Having said that we would recommend all of the local restaurants, pubs and cafes we visited! Top of the list, however, was the Doolin Inn for breakfast served between 8.00 and 10.00pm, and the Ivy Cottage for evening meals. The town of Ennistymon is well worth a visit and the Little Fox cafe offers tasty and very different lunch options. All the pubs in Doolin are good but the best draught (local) beer we found was in Fitz’s Bar Doolin and The Roadside Tavern in Lisdoonvarna. The Doolin Inn also sells bottles from Western Herd which is excellent! A ferry trip to the Aran Islands/Cliffs of Moher is definitely a must. We booked on-line a couple of days before we went with Doolin2Aran Ferries once we knew the weather forecast was likely to be favourable. This company is highly recommended.

  • "The Farmhouse was decorated to a very high standard."

The bedrooms & bathrooms were a very generous size & 5star rating. The showers & bath were a real luxury after exploring The Burren which was a truly unforgettable experience. The kitchen was fully equipped & all appliances appeared new. The sitting area was very comfortable with a wood burner which made it very cosy at night when we reflected on our day. Family bikes were provided, barbeque & outdoor furniture. The Farmhouse was located close to Lisdoonvarna, Doolin & The Cliffs. We also visited Lahinch, Milltown Malbay & Spanish Point. We enjoyed exploring Doolin & visiting the knitwear & crafts shops & having a cuppa. There are many nice eateries but we enjoyed eating in O'Connor's Pub & our daughter enjoyed visiting the Chocolate Shop. The people in the area are very friendly & helpful in their recommendations. The highlight was visiting the Cliffs of Moher. We had a very clear sunny day & the views were magnificent. Bring a Picnic & take it all in! We were very recluntant to say our goodbyes to West Clare. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Farmhouse Cottage. We would highly recommend it & we hope to return soon again. Thank you to Clement & John who were on hand to show us to the cottage & if we required any assistance. Thank you to Hogan Cottages for a great listing of Cottages & for helping us to find this real gem, "Farmhouse Cottage" Claughan, Co. Clare. Looking forward to returning already. Happy Holidays Sharon Lowe

  • "This was the best home we've ever rented!"

It was clean and comfortable and had modern amenities. The location was quiet and the view from the street (of the cliffs and ocean) was amazing. Thank you so much!! If it is helpful to know, the bike tires were flat so having a pump in the shed would be helpful. Also, it was super helpful to have the person (who met us in town and led us to the property) show us how to turn everything on in the house because a lot of the switches weren't intuitive.
