"The flat was a short walk to excellent shops, pubs, and cafes."
The town itself is immaculately clean. Not once did we see discarded rubbish. The locals are very proud of their home. Directions to the block were adequate., and the parking was good On arrival, I had trouble finding the keys, but got them eventually. It was not stated on the arrival email that there are two entrances to the carpark. The email also said "Enter the building through the royal blue door". The doors were newly painted, and all doors on the block had been royal blue. Better advice to inform guests to follow the flat numbers above the entrance doors. On arrival inside, the flat was acceptable but the dishwasher had not been emptied. We wondered had anyone inspected the flat after the last tourists left? It also looked like it had only been given a basic tidy. A pair of dirty socks appeared from under one of the beds. It was also noted that the door handles inside the bedroom doors were both loose, and fell off soon after arriving. In the kitchen, the mixer tap on the sink was hanging on. I had to tighten the securing nut myself, by hand. The walls are thin between flats. We regularly could hear children playing and screeching nearby. There was NO toilet paper in either of the bathrooms. On using the toilets, hot water sinks, or en suite shower there was an extremely loud noise coming from the water tank in tne hot press. This was disturbing if using the wc at night. Initially we had a concern about bringing our pet; so to clarify this I made numerous attempts at contacting Hogan's and Sykes to speak with a representative. The best I got was a response via WhatsApp.which took two days to reply. At no point did we have any human contact from anyone. This felt very impersonal and disappointing.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I truly appreciate your honesty, and I’m very sorry that your experience did not meet expectations in several areas. Regarding the directions to the key location at 28 Long Quay, I appreciate your feedback. While we haven’t had previous complaints, I understand that the uniform door colours may have caused confusion. I will revise the instructions to make them clearer for future guests. I’m also very sorry about the dishwasher being full and the socks found under the bed. I’ve spoken with the cleaner, who has acknowledged the oversight and assured me this will not happen again. I’ve also asked her to ensure that essentials like toilet roll are always provided before guests arrive. The kitchen tap and door handles are being repaired this week, and I appreciate your patience on this. As for the water tank, we are currently sourcing the necessary part and will have it fixed as soon as possible. I understand that noise from outside and the thinness of the walls may have impacted your stay. While this is unfortunately a limitation of the apartment’s structure and location, I do understand how it could affect your comfort. We try to reflect this in the pricing. I want to sincerely apologise for the lack of communication from Hogans/Sykes. It is completely unacceptable that your calls were not answered and that you only received a response via WhatsApp two days later. I understand how frustrating this must have been, especially when you were trying to get clarity about the apartment. I have raised this issue with both companies and requested a full review of their communication protocols to ensure this does not happen again. Additionally, I was not informed by either party about the issues you were experiencing, which is why I was unable to reach out to you directly at the time. This breakdown in communication is being taken seriously. Once again, I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve, and I hope we can welcome you back in the future under better circumstances. Property Owner

"Appartment was exactly as described."
Very comfortable, clean and with good facilities. However there is no microwave but otherwise the kitchen is very good. Both flights of stairs could be unsuitable for older people or younger kids or as we found a struggle for our older dog. There is a lovely safe park right across the road and Clonakilty is very safe to stroll around, even at night .
There is a microwave in the cupboard underneath the worktop, for people who wish to use it. It is kept there as not everyone wants to use a microwave. I will arrange for the cupboard it is in, to be clearly marked. Property Owner
