  • "Great home, lovely welcome with a bottle of wine, and turf for the fire."

Stunning views in a quiet, rural location. Property was clean, well equipped and homely, very secure for children and dogs. Would definitely recommend. Location is great, central point to Kerrykeel, Portsalon and Downings. The only downside is that nowhere is walkable due to having small children with us, but everywhere is a quick journey in the car

Many thanks for visiting and we are glad that your holiday went well . Property Owner

  • "We absolutely loved Ranny Roe."

The views were stunning and the peace and tranquility perfect. A car is essential. There is lots of parking which was important for us as were towing a trailer. There is a local supermarket approximately 4 miles away in Portsalon and a Lidl supermarket 10 miles away in Milford. The area has some of the most stunning beaches and views to be seen anywhere in the world!! The Atlantic Drive is fabulous. There are various bars and restaurants in nearby Portsalon, Kerrykeel and Downings. Ranny Roe has everything needed for a fabulous holiday. We would love to return.

Thanks for spending your holidays at Ranny Roe ,and we really hope you get back for another visit at some stage. Property Owner

  • "Well, what a stunning location for our long-awaited family get together!"

The property accommodated folk from 3 households perfectly in the 3 bedrooms & ample bathroom facilities. We just loved the space, cleanliness & friendly welcome we received. A massive plus for us was the walled, gated garden where the dogs could run around safely. Around the area, the beach to the north 5 mins drive away was huge (and empty) and the little town of Milford had a supermarket & various shops which kept us supplied. We also enjoyed the take away food from Fanad Lodge - twice - although the menu in the house is no longer valid so it's best to call in to choose from the extensive menu at the bar then collect later at an agreed time. We were concerned that, having buildings serving the salmon farm on either side, there might be noise / smells, but we need not have worried. There was very little activity, no smells, and the buildings might not even have been there - far enough away and behind hills covered in sheep & cows. All in all, a great holiday in a gorgeous, spacious home with peace & quiet and views to remember for a lifetime!

We are delighted that your delayed holiday went so well .Thank you for your positive feedback and we hope you get to visit again in the future . Property Owner

A very comfortable and pleasant place to stay. Beaches galore near by and the roads were almost empty. Just perfect. Thank you.

  • "Lovely property with wonderful views."

The cottage provided everything needed for a comfortable stay, the welcome gift and the starter pack for the fire were particularly welcome. The starburst hints placed throughout the property were very useful to help navigate the facilities. The house was always warm and the warmth very much appreciated after a day out in the elements that the winter in can Donegal bring.

  • "House is great."

Very secluded. Location is superb. Beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful. House was as per description. it was clean, comfortable, spacious, and warm. Beds were very comfortable. Firm but not too hard. Slept very well during our stay. More than enough to see on the Fanad peninsula over a few days. We did Fanad lighthouse, Portsalon Beach twice, on the final day we climbed Lough Salt Mountain. Reasonably easy climb and incredible views from the top. We tried to get to Great Pollet sea arch but the farmer has closed access and the other route is a bit dependent on low tide. The only minor issue I had was that the cooking facilities are tricky to use unless you're used to induction hob and range cooking. However I did bake a cake in the oven and it turned out really good. And cooked much faster than usual. Other than that, we loved everything about the house.

  • "Fantastic holiday home, our only gripe was that the master bedroom mattress is very hard and noisy, as my children wake in the night I kept waking my husband getting out of bed, so we both didn’t sleep well."

The owners were very helpful and kept in touch all holiday. It’s a beautiful setting and Donegal is amazing.

  • "Ranny Rae cottage was situated with an amazing view of the Lough ( easy access too for canoes or SUP)."

The cottage was very clean and comfortable with layout as described. Garden was large and secure for kids and dog. Directions provided and other contact with owners was very clear. We had a great stay. My only area for improvement would be some of the furnishing and kitchenware would benefit from a refresh.

  • "We had a great holiday and loved the location."

Plenty of space in the house and it was lovely and spotlessly clean however decor is a little dated. Sofa was quite uncomfortable as was the master double bed. Kitchen only has a range oven which works fine but is a bit awkward. Overall I would recommend and we really enjoyed our stay.

  • "What a beautiful home in an amazing location."

Off the main road so not traffic other than the vehicles for the fishing business on same road, magnificent views across the bay. Close to Portsalon & Downing’s which is brilliant. And pet friendly! I would most definitely recommend this house to friends. Only issue we had was that the bed in the main bedroom is extremely hard and uncomfortable. But if didn’t ruin the holiday.

  • "This cottage was excellent,it was spacious, cozy and warm, the beds were super comfy."

The views across Mulroy Bay,and the mountains were unreal. We did have a few wee hiccups with the range cooker and getting the heating right, but on contacting the owner Dennis, who by the way lives in Boston,he replied to us and we got everything sorted, nothing was a problem for him,he is just the perfect host, and he kept in touch with us to make sure everything was ok,couldnt thank him enough. Being pet friendly we had our wee Jack Russell with us,the garden which is quite big is all enclosed, and our dog had plenty of room to run about and was always safe, which was great for us too. Couldn’t recommend this house enough,we spent 4 days here and we had a fabulous time, and we will return.
