Blue Stack House

We had a superb week at Blue Stack House.

The property is very remote, as advertised, but surrounded by spectacular views, with beautiful walks accessible from the doorstep. A perfect location for a quiet getaway. The owner is very friendly, meeting us on arrival and answering any questions we had about the property. Just a couple of things which would make a big difference - the 2 single mattresses are very uncomfortable, with springs coming out. The first night the 2 using them got very little sleep. We had friends nearby and were able to borrow 2 thin air mattresses which we put on top and they made a huge difference. The double bed mattresses were excellent. Secondly, the addition of a couple of dining room chairs to make the table fit the number of occupants and the purchase of a sofa or more comfortable chair for the sunroom to take advantage of the beautiful views from that room would make the property even more appealing. We would definitely re-book in the future

Everything we need was available. Host was very helpful con and Noreen very nice host. Children enjoyed the stay and of course the scenery was beautiful. We will definitely come again.

The house is so spacious and has everything you need. It's beautiful. As soon as we arrived we felt at home. Location is perfect for anyone who wants to escape for some uninterrupted quiet. The views are just stunning. Checking in and out was hassle free. Honestly didnt want to leave. I would definitely book again.

If you are looking for entertainment, this is not the property for you.

If you are looking for "real" bright lights, the stars in the completely dark sky are fantastic. This is the ultimate rest cure sitting in the Blue Stack mountains about eight miles outside Donegal town with sheep being the only hear neighbours. It is also the last house on electricity. The owner should register it on Trip Advisor and I would repeat the same.

Great and really remote location.

The House has everything one needs for a relaxing holiday. Only item for improvement would be the mattresses in the downstairs twin-bedroom. The springs there poke in to your back (specially for adults or heavy children)

Well kept property, the Internet didn't work but this was fixed quickly by con and noree they were very helpful.

This property is remote and is good for anyone that likes walking or for touring donegal. The road to it is rough in places with grass down the centre. Yes we would go back there again we loved the peace and quiet of its surroundings

The house was spacious and beautifully located.

The view was fantastic, we could see all the way to the sea and Ben Bulben. The silence was restful, we heard nothing but the sheep and birds around the house. For us the house was not too remote, we made many trips to the surrounding area: Donegal Town, Killybegs, and the beautiful beaches of Donegal. The friendly and helpful hosts took good care of us. Perhaps for some travellers a bit too far from neighbours or Donegal (18 minutes by car).

We had a wonderful stay at Bluestack House.

The remote and peaceful setting was a perfect antidote to city life. The views were gorgeous and many enjoyable hours were spent just soaking them up. It was our first visit to Ireland and the cottage was a perfect base for exploring Donegal and a little further afield. The cottage was spacious and comfy and the owners were so lovely and helpful. A couple of suggestions to improve what was an amazing visit, are as follows: A few additional items in the cottage which would have been useful were a folder with some notes on to how to use the appliances, hot water, heating, etc (we figured it out, but this would be a helpful addition); a drying rack for dishes; spare dish towel; tongs for the fireplace, a starter pack for the fire (there was none on arrival). All in all, a truly memorable visit. Thank you so much to the Boyles, we had a very special stay in your lovely cottage.

Great location loved the quiet and scenic view.

House nice and spacious and very comfortable. Owners lovely. Lots to especially as a family close to Donegal town and other sites like Bundoran and Glenveagh National Park. Really enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back in the near future.

Lovely house up in the mountains with splendid views.

Ideal base for touring the mountains on foot or by car, or just for unwinding in the peace and quiet and looking at the scenery. NB 15 or 20 minutes drive from Donegal the last 10 being on single track roads (though little frequented and with adequate passing places in most sections of the road). It's a pity that the DVD player didn't work properly. The property could also benefit from some minor additions such as a list of what can be re-cycled, a washing up bowl, kitchen scissors and shower mats, as we both slipped a bit on the smooth floors of the shower cubicles. :-)

Incredible location wonderful hosts Noreen and Cornelius could not have been more accommodating and helpful to us.

The house is in a beautiful remote area.

Suited us down to the ground. No one around for miles. Good walking routes. I even managed to do some baking while I was there. The house was equipped with most things you would need. The only negative point that I have is in regard to the beds. The mattresses have seen better days. You were lying on springs. Agony. Even if they invested in ready good toppers if they don’t want to replace them. Something, anything would be better. With that I would hope to be able to return someday. It was the most peaceful relaxing break I’ve had in a long time.

Beautiful large clean and well maintained house. Such comfortable beds a really well equipped kitchen anything you could need. It’s a home from home. The views are outstanding. A place of rugged and natural beauty I don’t want to go back to Dublin. Wonderful hikes from the house Noreen and Con the owners very friendly. Con told us such wonderful stories of the history of the area. Cannot recommend it enough for a peaceful holiday away from all the stress of the city. With the lovely Donegal town only a short drive away. We can’t wait to come back .

Fantastic location, perfect house and great facilities.

Big tables meant we could play board games easily and it was spacious enough that we could all fit comfortably!

Beautiful holiday home, very spacious with superb views of Sligo, Mayo, Cavan and Donegal bay.

20 mins to closest beach, we visited 6. There was great mix of views, relaxation, buzz of Donegal town and great beaches including the spectacular views at Slieve League and St Johns Point. We also enjoyed the walks in the blue stacks accompanied by the sheep. We also spotted wild deer.

The owners were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

We had an absolutely wonderful holiday in their cottage. Clean and tidy it certainly was.

This accommodation is for those who seek peace & tranquility without being too far from Donegal -it’s an amazing location with sweeping views of valleys, sea and lakes.

The house is tastefully finished & furnished with everything you need, plus some. Hosts are helpful, friendly and kind. It was by far the best accommodation we experienced throughout our long journey through the UK!

What an amazing cottage.

The owners were very friendly and informative. They offered suggestions of places to go and things to do as it was our first visit to Ireland. The scenery around the cottage was fantastic Even the sheep were friendly.
