Sheriff's Tower Cottage - East

We very much enjoyed our visit and the cottage, which was lovely on the surface, however, there are a few niggles.

The cottage is part of a wider regeneration scheme called The Auckland Project. We visited other sites which are part of the project. We ate in the Bishops Kitchen of Auckland Palace where the fixtures and fittings , crockery and cutlery were all high quality. The same items in the cottage were not to the Same standard at all. Mismatched cutlery and an eclectic collection of crockery looks like gathered from many places over a long period of time. The kettle was very cheap and flimsy and the toaster also,and only 2 slots for a let that can sleep 4. We were missing a serving spoon. The dining table and chairs were more shabby than chic, I had to sit on a blanket due to the hardness of the seat. The shower head collapsed downwards in certain positions no matter how tightly I tried to secure it. We felt strongly there should be a unifying link between the public areas such as the cafes, and the cottage. We both said it’s all fur coat and no knickers.

Great location , close to Palace grounds and ongoing improvements to the area.

Good outdoor space if you have a dog on grassed part but seating area has uneven paving stones but managed well enough spending most time there, as hot and sunny. Will book one of the other cottages in the project again but a bigger one with more space for the Autumn even though there are only two of us. In all very pleased especially with the downstairs toilet not mentioned in facilities !

The cottage was lovely and we had everything we needed.

The welcome pack was a great additition. The cottage is in a great loaction, so it was easy to go out and about. We took our dog, who was also made to feel very welcome. There was an issue with the fire alarm and the out of hours team responded very promptly and were very friendly. We would definitely stay again.
