  • "Delightful well laid out holiday home, ideal base for exploring County Durham."

The house was warm, spotlessly clean, with such comfortable beds! We were welcomed on arrival, which was lovely, with assurances where to contact the owners if we needed anything. There is plenty of parking at the home, which has a safe back garden and very welcome hot tub! There are pleasant walks around Witton Gilbert with a lovely welcoming church almost next door. Regular bus services into Durham, plenty of fabulous places to visit, what’s not to love? We’ve already booked for another visit

  • "The first thing my family found was that the photos of The Granary did not do it justice."

It is a beautiful spacious house with all the mod cons you could want. Every part of the house has the wow factor, a lot of thought has gone into making it a very comfortable home from home. The garden was perfect for our little dog and the surrounding farmland is lovely for a morning or evening stroll. Sadly we didn’t make use of the hot tub because of our busy schedule. Would we go again… absolutely, in fact my daughter has already booked for November! Thank you to Tracey and her husband for such a lovely breakaway.

  • "All was excellent except the hot tub wasn't fully functioning (some jets not working) and as there were 5 of us we had to take it in turns ."

.. other than that it was lovely accommodation and suited the needs of 5 adults.

  • "A beautiful property in a lovely location."

Every care is clearly taken to ensure a warm welcome. Our party of 6 and a 4 legged friend had a most wonderful and relaxing stay. Highly recommended.

  • "The Granary is fantastic, a home away from home."

This is the 4th time we have stayed and it gets better every time. John, Tracey and Chris are amazing friendly hosts who are always available if needed. The llamas are hilarious but are picky when it comes to their choice of carrots. Cheap tesco carrots are a bit hard don’t you know!!!

  • "Beautiful cottage well looked after with Beautiful grounds where you can visit the alpacas."

The cottage was well equipped with everything you could need even lots of little extras like fresh eggs milk and local coffee. The owners were very friendly and gave a warm welcome to the cottage. This is our second visit to the Granary and we couldn't of asked for a better week of comfort and relaxation whilst exploring the area. We look forward to revisiting in the future.

  • "The best cottage we have stayed in."

Absolutely perfect and they have thought of everything. Very well equipped with thoughtful touches. The cottage is gorgeous, spacious, well planned and beautifully decorated and furnished. The garden was great for the dogs, completely enclosed. Surrounding area is lovely and we did some walks followed by a lovely Sunday roast in the pub in walking distance. 100% recommend and 100% we will be returning and for longer next time.

  • "The Granary is a very spacious, very comfortable and well maintained property."

The owners have thought of everything to make this an excellent place to stay. It is also in an ideal location for exploring Durham and the surrounding area by car but also there are lovely walks directly from the house and the bus service is also very good.

  • "The Granary is beautiful and very comfortable."

It was a fabulous place to stay, unwind, relax and base ourselves for sight seeing and dog walking around County Durham. It’s beautiful and I’d highly recommend it to anyone.

  • "This was our 2nd visit to The Granary."

The property is lovely and really spacious as there were 5 adults and a dog, really comfortable beds, great showers in all 3 bedrooms, fully enclosed garden which was great for our dog. Good walks direct from the property and within 30 mins of the coast, plenty of parking as we were in 3 cars. The owners are on site if needed. There was no gas for the barbecue and the parasol was broken and they sorted it straight away. Would highly recommend The Granary

    Mrs Victoria WilliamsJul 2025

  • "We had a lovely relaxing and peaceful stay in this beautiful and comfortable home from home holiday cottage, it had everything we needed."

It comfortably fits 6 people with 3 large en-suite bedrooms. A lovely welcome were the fresh eggs and prosecco. A bonus was that the sun stayed in the garden all day. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and it was lovely to see the Alpacas. We would definitely use again if we are in the area.
