  • "We enjoyed the cottage very much."

We felt at home and the cottage is near places to visit. The woods are great to walk in and listen to the birds. We had a good holiday and would like to return to rent your cottage again.

Thank you so much Eugene. We're very happy to hear that you had a nice stay. We have plans for a few improvements inside the cottage over the winter , so hopefully it will be even nicer for you if you return. I don't think that the birds or woods need any improvements though, everyone seems to love them! Property Owner

It is a perfect retreat for a quiet relaxing holiday or for venturing into the amazing scenery of Galway and Connemara. Cottage is very warm and always lots of hot water. • "This cottage is like a piece of heaven."

Lots of little woodland walks and ideal for anyone with mobility problems. There is an amazing collection of birds to see, no doubt attracted here by multiple bird feeders. The house is a wonderful cottage with beautiful stone walls and old world features. Colleen and Raymond are the best of hosts and it’s great that they share their cottage with us along with their home made jam and soap. The cottage is ideally located between Moycullen (SuperValu is a fantastic supermarket with a massive choice for everyone) and Oughterard (beautiful piers on the coast of Lough Corrib - boat tours on Wednesdays and Fridays) Go for it since we will again as soon as possible

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback Anne. We're very happy to hear you enjoyed everything. I'm happy to hear that you found it easy to get around as I know that as a genuinely old building we do our best to accommodate but I know that we still could improve access in the future with a ramp perhaps. I'm happy you enjoyed the time with us and look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Collen and Raymond were fantastic hosts. The cottage itself had everything we needed and the location was also fantastic, just outside Oughterard where there are shops, restaurants and a great modern playpark for the kids. Also not too far from Galway city and a great base for exploring the wider county as we did. The best part for us though was the significantly sized wooded area in the grounds of the cottage. Our 4 year old daughter absolutely loved exploring this and it quickly became known as the enchanted forest.

Thank you so much Seán for such high praise. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure to meet your lovely family. Maybe on your next visit you'll be able to find the fairy trails and doors. Property Owner

Feel so relaxed, just like home. Staying in this stone cottage is just so special. The fire place is unique and is a landmark of the house. Colleen and Raymond are excellent hosts, they make us feel part of the local neighbourhood. We cooked every nights as the kitchen facilities are good and plenty of grocery shops & butchers nearby. Just a few reminders to people who want to book Dun na Ron. The gate to the cottage is narrow, so if you have a big car need to pay attention when driving in. This cottage has no wifi provided, the smart phone reception is 3G only, but we still managed. Overall it’s a great place to stay. If you are traveling to the west of Ireland, this should be your choice to stay.

Thank you Dorothy and Andrew. I'm so glad to hear that you had everything you needed and were pleased with your stay. Not only were you made feel like locals, in 100 years time, the census will show you as part of our history! It's lovely to think about that. Property Owner

About the location

OUGHTERARD, COUNTY GALWAY

Galway 17 miles.

The traditional village of Oughterard is found in the west of Ireland on the shores of Lough Corrib, at the start of the Connemara Mountain range and close to the famous Western Way. Home to the Oughterard 18-hole championship golf course, Derroura Mountain Bike Trail and Aughnanure Castle, there are lots of things to see and do, and located next to Lough Corrib, Oughterard is great for lovers of fishing. Just a short drive away in Roscahil is the pretty Brigit's Garden; with four main gardens and places to play, sit and relax, this is a great day out for all the family. Only 17 miles from Oughterard lies Galway City, where you can discover some of Ireland's long and varied history; visit Lynch's Castle, or trace the origin of the famous Claddagh Ring, which originated in a village near the shore of Galway Bay. A lovely lough-side village, all year round.
