Castle View

My family and I have stayed at Castle View twice now, October 2025 and May 2026.

We cannot fault the place at all. The location is absolutely perfect, the views are amazing - including the most incredible sunsets I have ever seen in May, the space outside for the kids to play is huge and they were able to ride there scooters around it in a circle, especially as there's a high electric gate and high bushes, it's very safe and secure. Our Neighbours at the back of the garden were 6 horses including 2 baby foals. The house is clean, tidy, inviting and has everything you need, including a cupboard of kids and adult games for the chilled evenings. We will be back for a third visit and more :)

Lovely house with all home comforts, such a safe place to stay, it was so cleen and cosy and lots of space we will definitely stay there again such a fantastic place.

We all had amazing holiday there thanks to the owner

Fantastic house in a great location.

House was spotless. Beds very comfortable. Kitchen well equipped. Would highly recommend.

What a hidden gem and such a beautiful location to tour stunning Connemara, Galway City, Salt Hill and Clifton, we even Westport.

The cottage is immaculate, well equipped with comfortable beds, and so private, so beautiful to sit out in the evening with a glass of wine listening to the sounds of nature. The Castle is a few minutes drive and is well worth a visit €5 includes a guided tour, also Brigit’s Gardens and Cafe about a 10 minute drive away is a lovely day out €12 admission, there are a few bars, places to eat and shops in the bustling town of Oughterard which is a few minutes drive from Castle View, thank you for the beautiful memories we will definitely return again and would definitely recommend Castle View could not fault one thing didn’t want to leave.

Lovely stay for 3rd time

Great cottage so quiet .

. problem with horse getting loose but was quickly sorted ... lovely places to vist if willing to travel .. tv very limited but lots of dvds to watch ...

It was a good base for our holiday with so many places nearby.

The beds were really comfortable and everything was clean. To improve our stay I would recommended more crockery. Also a second shower would have been really helpful.

Disappointed that there was no Wi-Fi at the property which we were not aware of on booking

Castle View was a great stay.

House was a great size and very comfortable. I would definitely book this house again.

Castle View was ideally situated for touring the area and seeing the beautiful countryside of Connemara.

The house was beautifully clean and well supplied with everything you would need to make your stay comfortable. Michelle was very helpful with advice when we needed it and provided lots of leaflets and travel guides that made planning our days out very easy. We had a super week and wouldn't hesitate to return in the future. Our only disappointment was that there was no wifi available.

Lovely place on arrival.

Only issue with shower being affected if water used in other parts of property.

Castle view was truly a wonderful experience and I could not have been happier with our choice.

The house was perfect and one could not complain about anything- cleanliness.,comfort, heat, maintenance and location were spot on. The owner of the house was in the same category- 5 star. Too bad we only had a week . I would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants a top rated house etc.

Clean and comfortable but lacked a dishwasher

The cottage is lovely.

Very quiet but in a good location near to the town and had everything we needed. The only problem was finding it when we first arrived. After we discovered you could reach the main road by going past the castle we found this much better and think it would be easier for guests to find if they were directed that way.

Amazing house.

Very comfortable and feel like home

Très calme.

Bien situé. Literie très confortable. Pas de chauffage d’où humidité dans la maison. Pas de wifi.

Castle view is a lovely house with a perfect location for a peaceful stay yet in easy reach of the stunning Connemara national park and Galway city.

The house is well equipped, very clean and comfortable. The host communicates effectively. We are happy to recommend and would stay again. Many thanks, Karen.

Ann made sure everything was ready for us even though she was recently widowed which we very much appreciate

Very nice house.

However, a dishwasher could be great!

Really loved our stay at Castle view.

A clean and comfortable spacious house with a warm welcoming feeling. The location of the house is perfect for sightseeing the west of Ireland. In close proximity to the house to the right is the shore of lough corrib and to the left approx 2 miles away is Aughnanure castle and the oughterard golf club. The quiet roads make it safe to explore these nearby sights on bikes. Just 3 MILES from Castle view is the village of Oughterard. Here you will find lovely places to eat and lovely walks up at the back of the playground and also at the back of the church to a fabulous waterfall walk. Out the Glann road from the village you can drive to a spectacular view of the Hill of Doon it doesnt disappoint. A short drive out of the village heading for Clifden are the Glengowla mines something for the young and old. Just a little further up that road, sign posted Leam, is the stone bridge made famous by the movie the quietman. Dogs bay beach is absolutely fabulous ans is about 50 mins from castleview or 20 mins outside Clifden. kylemore Abbey nestled in the Diamond hill, can be seen on route as you drive through to Maum cross and onto Leenaun, it's definitely worth a visit. Killary harbour on the border of Galway and Mayo offers water sports if it's adventure your looking for. The killary adventure centre is within 1hrs drive of castle view. The breathtaking views of Connemara have to be seen to be believed, the route from oughterard to Clifden and Leenaun. The other direction towards Galway city in a little place called Moycullen about 7 miles from the house, you can try out some horse riding on Connemara ponies/horses. A really enjoyable experience. And if its retail therapy your after Galway city is only 25 min drive from Castle view. So within an hr of either direction of the house there is a funtastic time to be had. It is the perfect location for the perfect staycation. Ann lives next door and is a very welcolming neighbour who offers good advice and information.

Lovely private bungalow with all the home comforts.

We had a brilliant holiday, excellent location for touring around Galway and Mayo.

Castle View was stunning and had a lovely personal story attached as to why it is a holiday home.

Our 2 night stay there was too brief and we would love to stay there again. The only problem, was their hot water system unfortunately. Leaving this place brought tears to my eyes!

Extremely peaceful house and surroundings.

Loved every minute. Didn’t want to go home.
