Found within the small village of Cordal in County Kerry is this delightful and picturesque thatched property, Mary Rose Cottage, suited to a family or a group wanting to explore this lovely area of Ireland.

Enter this quaint cottage by coming through the red gate and past the mature planted garden which is beautifully landscaped, before opening the bright red door and be greeted by an open fire within an original brick fireplace, a charming and welcoming spot to warm yourself after coming in from a brisk winter walk.

Afterwards go through to the second sitting area next door and flick on the TV for some entertainment on a quiet evening, before sinking into the red soft seating and settle into this homely abode.

This pretty area leads to the first bedroom, a double room with a lovely solid wood bed frame and delightful décor, creating a sweet spot to rest in.

Step across the wooden floors back to the other side of the cottage where a country-style kitchen awaits, featuring a classic red AGA range cooker, as well as a Belfast sink and long farmhouse dining table, it’s the perfect place to gather together as a family to enjoy preparing food and eating meals, a simple but effective way to get in some quality time.

Along with a beautiful wooden kitchen dresser and space for storage, the kitchen leads to a utility space where a washing machine and a tumble dryer are placed, a great addition to any self-catering accommodation, with a bench and space to kick off your boots after coming in through the stable door entrance.

A bathroom lies off this room where you can indulge in a moments peace in the Jacuzzi bath, before settling down in the evening in one of the bedrooms, with the master king-size lying beyond the kitchen, holding a classic iron bed frame and featuring an en-suite shower room, making delightful sleeping quarters.

Completing the interior up the wooden staircase, you will find the single bedroom tucked in the eaves in a mezzanine style overlooking the sitting area below.

Around the back of the property you can enjoy the delight of a hot soak in the hot tub set on a large decked space, with the sound of the running stream below creating a tranquil and idyllic environment.

Wander through the winding pathways, past ponds, shrubs and trees and play hide and seek with the little ones before sitting down for a spot of alfresco dining.

Head into the town of Castleisland up the road for all of your provisions as well as a lively pub and bar scene, wander along the famous wide high street and explore the many shops and local businesses.

Enjoy a trip to Crag Cave, one of the largest cave systems in Ireland being 3.81 km in length, you can join a tour and explore the 350 metres that are accessible by the public.

Its a great cottage to get away from the world and relax completely.

We have been there several times and always look forward to returning. A very unique kind of place.

The cottage is lovely but we were left with a dangerously faulty and unusable cooker and no way to cook for 11 of our 12 days.

The owner has completely ignored any requests to address this and support our continued stay, despite assurances and reassurance from Sykes that they would. Left us very dissapointed and let down. Happy to take the money and run. If you intend to book this cottage and intend to cook, make sure this has been rectified first before you book. This could all have been avoided.
