This was our first time in Ireland and we had the most wonderful month.

Irene and Lakeside Cottage were everything we could have wished for. We took many day trips and overnighters and were blessed with a great local place to come back to. We will definitely stay here on our next trip. Thank You Irene for everything!!

We had a lovely stay in this little Irish cottage on the lake, ten minutes from Boyle center, groceries, pubs.

Irene was a very responsive host, the cottage was clean and had a fireplace for cozy nights. The washer came in handy with air dry rack in kitchen. The shower was hot and strong and the cottage heated up quickly. Irene left us a lovely basket of treats including crisps I can't wait to eat again! We would stay here again if in the area.

Lakeside cottage is stunning.

It's modern, stylish, with amazing views of the lake and a beautiful garden surrounding the property. The kitchen is very well equipped and the internet is amazing for such a remote spot. The beds are comfy. Irene, the host has thought of everything, even down to a beautiful hamper, with wine, cookies, milk and eggs to get you started. It's an amazing place and I really hope to be back again soon.

We had the most wonderful stay at this little cottage.

We travelled with my elderly mother and because everything is on one level it was perfect. On arrival there was a fantastic welcome hamper left for us. Everywhere was exceptionally clean and had everything for a self catering break. If the clouds clear at night it is a star gazers dream! The cottage owner Irene was so lovely to deal with. If anyone is looking to get away from life's hustle and bustle then this wee gem is the perfect place.

This property is idyllic, overlooking the lake and a short spin to Boyle town.

Everything is catered for in this cottage. A lovely welcome basket, all utilities you could need or want in any house! Choice of oil heating or stove. The cottage is spotlessly clean and we really enjoyed our stay here. Irene, the owner is very helpful and was on call of needed. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in this part of the country.

Irene is an excellent owner she was friendly, helpful and easy to contact. Her welcome package was lovely and much appreciated. The Cottage is lovely, it is a blend of rustic and modern and really comfortable with two wood burning fires. Everything you could need and more has been supplied for your stay. The location is perfect being right on the lake and the 6km walk around the lake is easy for all. We had a great time and I would definitely recommend.

The property was fantastic and was in such a great location.

It was so peaceful where the cottage is based. The property itself is so cosy, yet big enough to still give plenty of space inside. There was wood provided for the two log burners and we did light one of them on a couple of evenings. The owner was extremely courteous and left us a basket of amazing goodies to have during our stay and was contactable if we needed anything. Everything was so well cleaned/looked after and we had a brilliant stay.

Location was so peaceful, cottage had EVERYTHING you could possibly need in any eventuality! Owner Irene was extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommend and definitely will be back asap! It’s very clear this home is loved and well cared for, thank you for sharing it with us xx

The cottage was very cosy and welcoming and we felt very much at home.

Everything you could possibly need was provided together with so many extra little touches. The view over the lake was amazing and we were lucky enough to get the chance to sit outside in the sun with the beautiful view. Irene was so welcoming and extremely helpful. We had a lovely relaxing stay and were sad to leave it.

This is an absolutely beautiful property.

The lake is also a picture perfect backdrop at your front door. Irene was super helpful and very generous, this lady has all you could ever need in this property. I am paralysed on my left side and found the shower challenging but not impossible. Good location for several places to visit. X

Irena was a perfect owner and host for the property and there was nothing she would have done to make our stay a 10 out of 10 holiday.

The cottage was exceptional, clean, tidy and all facilities working, the outer area of the property was excellent clean and lawn and flower beds neat and tidy. We were looking for a quiet, comfortable break.

We knew what the weather would be like in Ireland in March so it was important that the cottage didn’t disappoint. It didn’t. The interior was spotless, thoughtfully designed in a ‘cottage’ style and complete with everything you need to relax with no niggling problems. The furniture is of a high standard and we were warm and cosy throughout our stay. On top of this the setting is hauntingly beautiful and the owner provided first class customer service. 100%

The cottage was amazing, wonderful setting and such a lovely romantic place if you have seen the movie The Holiday then you are having a similar experience ( and this was in a January!

A beautiful cottage in a stunning lakeside setting.

It was very well equipped and the owners were ever so kind and helpful to us. It was unusual weather ie hot and sunny everyday and so we were swimming daily in the warm clean water - just 600 metres from the cottage to an easy access point

This traditional Irish cottage has been lovingly renovated to provide every modern convenience, with beautiful views over Cavetown Lake and within a short driving distance of either Carrick or Boyle.

The big lake is beautiful, but fishing it is hard going in the extreme. Try the smaller lake nearby or the Boyle River.

the property was of the highest standard, clean well furnished and with everything you could possibly need to help make your stay a home from home experience and the correspondence from the owner was excellent

Irene was the most welcoming host you could wish for the extras she left us were very much appreciated the cottage is the best equipped we have stayed in that includes Scotland England and Wales the view from the cottage is fantastic.

Everything about this property has the feeling of being well considered, which makes it feel like a home from home.

Perhaps even better! The host, Irene, had left a little welcome hamper, which was greatly appreciated and unexpected. There was also tea, coffee, some spices etc in the cupboard, so lovely. There was plenty of wood available for the stoves, which was again, so welcome, as the weather when we stayed was dreadful. However, the cottage was so comfortable that we only noticed the terrible weather when we looked out the windows. During our stay we discovered lots of attractions which were a delight to visit. We have NO hesitation in recommending this property and when time allows, we hope to return.

Irene is a superb host.

Her attention to detail combined with some beautiful touches makes Lakeside Cottage a true home a way from home. The hamper we received was so generous and thoughtful for our arrival and there was plenty of wood there to keep the fires going. The house is so comfortable and inviting and the chrome cast available meant we could watch Netflix and our favourite movies. The cottage is located in a very peaceful and tranquil place with lovely views at sunrise and sunset. If you want some quality rest and recuperation I couldn’t recommend anywhere more suitable. A lovely 6km walk around the lake was so invigorating and many more walks to do. Roscommon was never on our list of places to go but after this visit it’s now one of the hidden gems especially with the beautiful surroundings and sense of serenity and solitude. Carrick on Shannon is 20 mins drive and we had a very friendly taxi driver who was inexpensive. Boyle is also nearby with some nice places to visit. Everyone we met on our walks were so friendly and we can’t wait to return sometime soon. Ed and Callum

Amazing property in a stunning location Could not fault anything.

All furnishings are excellent quality and suit the property perfectly with all decor tastefully done with nice touches without over doing it. Comfortable beds and sofas. Beautiful isolation just 5 minutes from everything you need, perfect. The lake with the wild life is a stunning view and we had bad weather I am sure it would be off the scale on sunny days. Irene was excellent and always checking if all was alright. Would definitely stay again. Kevin

Lakeside cottage is a gem, quiet and relatively remote yet within easy reach by car of amenities.

Immediately it has a home from home feel, and no wonder, as the owners do indeed use it themselves at times. Thus they generously entrust many little personal extras to their guests which adds that extra special touch. The lake views - complete with swans gliding by - are beautiful even in the rain! Altogether a class offering.

Lakeside Cottage is an outstanding property in an ideal location right beside Cavetown Lake.

Firstly, it is spotless and there is absolutely everything you need. Irene had also left us the most generous welcome basket with wine, crackers, crisps etc. Our week here was ideal, totally relaxed and cosy evenings reading by the warmth of a log burning stove. We stayed at the cottage from 10th -15th Oct .

We found the cottage very easily from the owners directions and upon arrival the location was absolutely stunning! Very peaceful with fabulous views across the lake. Inside the cottage was extremely comfortable and immaculately clean , everything had been thought of and we needed for nothing. A fabulous break , just wish we had longer. We will definitely return very soon and stay longer. We would highly recommend the cottage.

The cottage was extremely comfortable, clean and well appointed, with many added extras that we enjoyed. Irene's service was also greatly appreciated. The quiet peaceful surroundings were perfect, just the week we wanted and needed. My husband also managed to catch some fish in the lovely lake!!

A beautifully equipped and comfortable cottage in a superb location overlooking the Lake.

Every assistance, facility and provision you can think of is provided along with that special sense of local hospitality and welcome which makes a holiday in Ireland so delightful. The coast and beaches at Sligo are in easy reach and the sights and features of the Shannon River and its towns most interesting. Good and relatively easy coarse fishing on the Shannon, more challenging on the lakes. We enjoyed the splendid variety of the Waterfront restaurant at Cootehall and the different kind of charm of the local pub! Wonderful holiday with many thanks to Irene for her kindness and hospitality.

Everything you could wish for is in this extremely comfortable cottage in a stunning spot right on the edge of a gorgeous lake.

Lovely property in a lovely setting.

Everything needed is available in the cottage. A bit remote if you want all amenities on your doorstep, but ideal if you want a country location from which to explore the surrounding towns and countryside. We had a relaxing and happy time.

We have just spent a very enjoyable week in the lovely lakeside cottage.

Been travelling around Ireland for past 20 years this cottage and lake location is one of the best my wife and I have found.

Everything you need is there perfect cottage for a couples to get away we loved the place

All our needs were met and much more, little things which are not often found in cottages but all very useful. Particularly appreciated the generous hamper provided. We would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage.

Really lovely cottage clean and everything was there that you needed internet was very slow you really have to go out side to if you needed to make a call other than that we really enjoyed our stay

This cottage is just stepping into a fairytale.

I had thee most magical Christmas ever. The owner did pop down to whish me a happy Christmas, we adheard to covid rules, but it was a lovely graceful thing to do for your guest. Also a beautiful hamper was left for me on arrival. Incredible value for money Simply heavenly I will definitely return
