“Annie's Cottage is a gem of a thatched cottage to stay in!”

We recently spent two weeks in this beautiful cottage. It is ideally situated in the centre of Country Mayo, making trips to Achill Island, Mayo's north and west coasts and trips to Galway City in the next county easy to reach. It is spacious, very nicely decorated and spotlessly clean and even though we stayed in August, we had the odd chilly day but we were warm and comfortable with the underfloor heating, radiators and log burning fire. There were plenty of fresh linen and towels available and after our first week we were brought more in case they were needed. Annie's Cottage has two kitchens and both are stocked with ample pots, pans, cutlery and crockery, with plenty of storage for any shopping should you do a lot of eating in, as we do and there are two fridges, one with a large freezer. The cottage has a large, beautiful garden with table, chairs and a bbq and it was lovely sitting out in the evening catching the last of the sun with a glass of wine. The owners, Jim and Mai, are a lovely couple and live close by. They were the perfect hosts and had a welcome gift for us when we arrived and provided us with fresh eggs from their farm during our stay. We can honestly say that Annie's Cottage is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in and will definitely book the cottage again when we next holiday in the beautiful and scenic Country Mayo. The property

Belcarra 2 miles.

Situated just two miles from the attractive village of Belcarra in County Mayo and 6.5 miles from the bustling town of Castlebar is this superb detached cottage.

This delightful cottage was once the local convenience store and has been lovingly restored from its original form to offer guests all the luxury of a modern property, but with the charm of a traditional Irish cottage including stone floors, a traditional half door, a thatched roof and even the original shop front!

Set over two floors, this cottage boasts three well-appointed bedrooms, each with an en-suite for extra comfort and luxury during your stay.

The cottage benefits from two stylish kitchens, each with French doors; they provide an ideal place for you to prepare and cook a delicious meal for your loved ones.

The main sitting room features a woodburning stove, which you can curl up beside and enjoy some quality time over a bottle of wine with friends.

For a spot of downtime, there are two additional sitting rooms where you can relax with a good book or the local paper after a jam-packed day of adventure.

As you step outside, you will find a large garden with mature trees and patio areas with furniture, and to the front of the cottage, in the neighbouring field, are the ruins of a tower house!

The village of Belcarra boasts a local shop and pub, along with a riverside loop walk, which takes you along the Manulla River, a tributary of the River Moy.

Just a short drive will take you to Castlebar, home to excellent shopping and a wide variety of pubs and eateries.

The popular harbour town of Westport is also close by, home to Croagh Patrick, the Greenway Cycle route, craft shops and traditional Irish music.
