  • "This is our third visit to Owls Hoot which should give you an indication of how nice it is."

It is in a pretty much perfect location for us - nearby beautiful beach, quiet grounds and a rural location yet not far from shops etc. The cottage is comfortable and spacious, with pretty much everything you would need. I very much appreciated the provision of a teapot for example! We also loved the large dining room table - perfect for family games night. One lovely bonus is the balcony outside the master bedroom - we used it to spot meteors during the Perseid shower. Brian is very friendly and helpful and a mine of information about the area. We are already planning to be back next year.

A fantastic location, nice and peaceful. A well maintained property. Brian the host went well above the norm to help us with a slight TV problem, sorted out very quickly. He also recommended good places to eat in the area, which we took him up on. Made our stay more enjoyable. Thank you.

The house has everything you need for a great holiday in the south east, with lovely beaches close by. All appliances etc. worked perfectly and kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials. Beds were very comfortable. Great space outside for kids and dogs to play. Very well equipped and to a very nice standard. The veranda off the main bedroom upstairs was a perfect place to enjoy the beautiful views. Would definitely be back again for another visit.

  • "The downstairs bedroom has a leak in the flat roof and my aunts clothes got wet as water came in overnight due to it raining."

I did raise this with Brian and he was going to deal with it. We do feel it should have been repaired prior to letting the entire property as it did take from our otherwise good experience.

A full repair was carried out by our builder at the start of the season. Our builder revisited the property immediately. He is attending to this. I am glad we were able to facilitate these guests with a very late checkout as they had a young baby. We do our utmost to ensure guests have a truly wonderful time. Property Owner

  • "Owls Hoot was a lovely property with plenty of space as described, and photos very accurate, in a nice rural setting."

For future reference more detailed instructions needed regarding operating the heating/hot water system, the TV, and Microwave. Suggest a manual left at the property with these detailed instructions. Cushions for the garden furniture would have been appreciated also, and a few more towels. I didn't appreciate that we had to take our rubbish to a service station and pay for disposal, this should be organised by the owner.

We advise all guests that hot water in the main bathroom is via the heating system or the immersion. We will take on board the suggestion and provide more complete documentation. Refuse disposal is all off site and the responsibility of guests. We are very committed to our local environment. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful house."

Lovely area. Only issues were dealing with rubbish. More towels would be good. Have a great time and host was always communicative and available.

  • "A lovely cottage in a completely untouched and rural location, the pictures didn't do this property justice, it was absolutely amazing with loads of space."

    Reviewed by Philip5.0Oct 2019

  • "The cottage was lovely and in a great location."

Well equipped and to a nice standard. However, the lack of a window that properly opened in the upstairs back bedroom meant it was unbearably stuffy at night and very difficult to get a good nights sleep. The shower in the en-suite did not flow and temperature was erratic. The shower door in the main bathroom did not close properly. The tv only works for DVD players and the WiFi was very poor. These were all things that could probably be fixed and would make it an amazing place.

About the location

TACUMSHANE, COUNTY WEXFORD

Wexford 9 miles.

The small village of Tacumshane in County Wexford has a pub and restaurant, The Millhouse, and is home to the Republic of Ireland's only surviving windmill. Built in 1846, the timber used is thought to be beach driftwood or wood from the shipwrecks that were all too common in this coastal region. The windmill is now designated a national monument. This part of County Wexford has plenty on offer - Tacumshane Lake is a favourite with anglers and birdwatchers, there are many golf courses, and the coastal walking path is easily reached. Kilmore Quay fishing village is a few miles down the road, and there are some lovely beaches, ideal for relaxing and playing on the sand. The county town of Wexford is under 10 miles away, and offers plenty of amenities including shops, bars and good restaurants.
