Welcome to The Old Bakehouse, a cosy retreat set within one of Kendal’s historic yards, once home to the Hogg family’s bustling 19th‑century bakehouse.
The site dates back to 1668 this spot was alive with bakers, weavers, nail makers, and riverside workshops perched above the floodplain.
Though the original cottages made way for modern Kendal in the 1960s, the yard was lovingly restored in 2003, allowing The Old Bakehouse to carry forward the warmth and industrious spirit of its past.
