The Lion House.

Wow. It was just beautiful. From the layout of the house, its furnishings, it’s gorgeous smells, it’s amazing history to it having everything you could possibly ever need on your stay there. We visit the area from Aberdeen every year to see family and go to Alton Towers. Out of all the cottages/houses we’ve stayed in The Lion House is among the best and our families favourite. The kids loved the space, the gaming room and all the toys, games and puzzles - which we completed the 1000 piece one as a holiday challenge! The house is literally on the doorstep of the gorgeous town of Ashbourne. It’s such a lovely, busy place with so many places to see, eat and explore. We will be heading down again next year and we really hope to stay at The Lion House again.

Lion House is clean, comfortable, spacious & has everything you need.

Ashbourne is ideally situated for visiting the many delights of the Peak District including Buxton, Bakewell & Matlock being just a 30mins drive away. Ashbourne has plenty of pubs, restaurants & independent shops. We recommend The Bowling Green for great food & service & Market Place Fish & Chips for your Friday night supper! Lots of walking & cycling in the area. We recommend hiring a bike from the friendly staff at Ashbourne Bike Hire at the start of the Tissington Trail. Our fantastic hike up Mam Tor along to Castleton was another highlight, stunning scenery which can also be said for Dovedale. Only afew negatives for us...too many smelly diffusers in the house made it abit overbearing, the traffic noise from the main road around 5.30am & we feel a dropped kerb would be beneficial. We would however, definitely come back if we were to revisit the area & would highly recommend to others.
