• "This is a superb holiday cottage in a beautiful location, very comfortably furnished and equipped with everything you need, plus many useful extras."

  The welcome pack includes milk and biscuits, plus the tea, coffee and sugar available in the kitchen, just what you need after a long journey. It is a great base for sightseeing being just outside Matlock ...... and there is lots to see. We (a group of four adults) loved it and all agree that we would go back again.

• "The bungalow was beautiful and very comfortable."

  The kitchen was huge and had everything you need although a couple of smaller pans would have been useful. The whole place was very clean and tidy when we got there. I'm not sure the bed in the second bedroom was king size though as it appeared to be 2 singles joined together, also a mirror is needed in the en- suite bathroom. All in all thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the change in weather and there are lots of places to visit within a few miles.

  Hi Julia, Thank you so much for this lovely review — we're delighted you found the bungalow beautiful and comfortable, and that everything was clean and ready for you on arrival despite the weather turning! Just to reassure you on the bed — the second bedroom is genuinely a king-size bed, but it uses a split/zip-link mattress (two joined together), which is why it can look like two singles. It's a common feature that allows the bed to be configured differently if ever needed. Thank you also for the notes on the smaller pans and the en-suite mirror — really useful, practical feedback, and we'll pass it on to get those added. • "Wonderful stay!"

  So glad we booked here! 10 min drive to most places/attractions locally. The house is so well equipped without being cluttered and everything was beautifully clean. The hosts have responded to previous reviews and minor issues other people had mentioned have been resolved. The only thing we thought needed changing was the addition of curtains in the bedrooms as they were quite light.

• "The bungalow was spacious, well presented and maintained well."

  The furnishings and appliances were high end and felt luxurious. There was lots of kitchen/tableware and everything was clean.

• "We stayed here for two weeks during the July heatwave."

  The location was perfect for country walks, great pub food and trips in to Matlock and the surrounding area. The bungalow was beautiful, very well decorated and would have been comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. However, as the whole estate is either paved or concreted this meant that during the heatwave there was little respite. In the bungalow it was extremely warm. The owners did provide a large floor standing fan for both bedrooms for which we were most grateful. The horizontal blinds in the front bedroom need fixing as they do not rise up the window - they only tilt to open or close which made it hard to get a breeze through the windows. The back garden was unfinished- there was a large rectangular concreted area / base for “something” with propped up paving slabs and various “rubbish items”. The fence at the back (right) of the property is incomplete and the gap has been “filled” with 3 large pots to stop anyone from falling in to the neighbours garden - which is at a much lower height than this property. The outside lights at the front of the property are loose and not fitted flush. Other guests have mentioned the lack of a shower caddy to place products in when having a shower - there still isn’t one in either shower. The welcome pack was greatly appreciated especially as very few places seem to provide one now.

We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the location, found the property beautifully presented and well equipped, and appreciated the welcome pack. It's lovely to know you were able to make the most of the local walks, pubs and attractions during your stay. We also appreciate your constructive feedback. As you know, during your visit, the UK experienced an exceptionally hot period, with temperatures well above what would normally be expected for the English climate. Oakwood Mews has been designed with the typical UK weather in mind, and the standing fans have proven to be a welcome addition during these unusual conditions. We appreciate your understanding and are pleased they helped make your stay more comfortable. Thank you also for your comments regarding the garden. The concrete base was prepared for the installation of a hot tub; however, unfortunately the supplier was unable to complete the project as planned. We have since moved forward with completing the area, and the space is now being paved instead between guest turn arounds, which can be quite challenging. Sorry if this impacted your stay. We also noted your comments regarding the rear boundary fence, and we're pleased to say the fencing has now been completed following your stay. Regarding the external lights, these were always safe and fully operational. We are unfortunately awaiting delivery of bespoke oak timber boxing to complete the finish, which had unfortunately been delayed. This installation will be completed shortly. We appreciate your feedback about the shower caddies and will review this with the team. We're keen to find a solution that complements the quality of the bathrooms, rather than installing a standard metal caddy that may rust or detract from the overall finish. • "Really great property spotlessly clean and ideally situated for the surrounding area."

  The only criticism would be the showers need a slip mat and a shelf to put your shampoo etc on otherwise a great place

• "The accommodation was first class and the kitchen equipment was amazing."

  Like home from home. The only downside was the back patio which needed a good sweep. It looked as if it hadn't been done for some time. It would also be nice to have a shelf in the showers for shower gel etc.

• "Really lovely property, had everything we needed."

  Only gripe would be that there are no blinds in the kitchen/dining area. Felt very exposed, especially when it was dark outside and the kitchen lights were on.

• "Oakwood Mews is spotlessly clean and is very modern and stylish."

  However, it could do with a few more homely touches; it's all very anonymous. There are also a few practical things it lacks, such as shelves in the showers for shampoo etc., bins (there is only one bin and that's in the kitchen), an outside recycling bin (we had to take our recycling home with us) and curtains / blinds in the kitchen and hall.

• "We had a lovely stay."

  There was everything we needed. The property was exceptionally clean. The beds were very comfy. The kitchen had everything we needed. There were two showers and a large bath. The underfloor heating was lovely after a long walk. We would LOVE to stay again. We couldn't find fault. The little hamper of Milk, coffee pods and shortbread was a much appreciated gesture.

• "We stayed at Oakwood Mews over the New Year period and had a really enjoyable family break."

  Having stayed at one of the Oakwood properties before this property was very consistent with our excellent previous experience. The single-level, ground floor layout worked brilliantly for our family and made the space feel very accessible and easy to use. The house was comfortable, warm, and cozy throughout our stay. The kitchen in particular is finished to a very high standard and was a pleasure to cook in. The addition of a Nespresso coffee pod machine was a lovely touch. Check-in and check-out was straightforward and well organised, and communication was clear and helpful. The location is ideal for exploring the Derbyshire countryside, and we would highly recommend booking a meal at The Gate Inn nearby at the top of the village. A great property that we would happily return to and recommend to others! Seb
