This large house facilitated our group of 8 very well for a family birthday weekend.

We chose it because of the accessible, ground floor bedroom and wet room. This bedroom is a twin and was great for our disabled family member, however the wet room has only 2 grab rails and no shower seat. There is also a fully electric recliner in the main living room. Please note, there is no stair lift in the house. There are 6 bedrooms upstairs: 3 doubles and 3 singles. The bathroom has a bath, shower over, sink and toilet. The shower room has a large, walk-in shower, sink and toilet. There is also a separate toilet. All the showers were great, with plenty of hot water. The whole house was clean and warm, however there is no carpet and only a few rugs. The beds were comfortable enough despite some lumpy pillows, and all the bedrooms had new double glazed windows with safety locks and blinds. However, many of the curtains did not fit the windows, and it was evident that all the upstairs bedrooms used to have sinks that had been removed, leaving holes in the flooring and exposed pipes. Some rooms had missing or broken lamps. The main living room has a big, smart TV and fish tank. However, the TV in the back room is an older flatscreen tv that needs an external input. It didn't have an ariel connected or any other option so was completely useless. There is good wifi however, so we could use our own tablets. There is plenty of room for another sofa and/or a number of comfy chairs in both the living areas instead of the beanbags and conference chairs! There was plenty of cooking utensils and crockery for everyone. There is a massive fridge in the kitchen and another in the dining room, however no freezer (only a tiny space inside the smaller fridge). Being dog-friendly, there are two lovely gardens and a great patio space with outdoor furniture. But please note that the back fence has gaps at the bottom. We had a nice weekend here, but I wouldn't choose this place for a family holiday.

We stayed as a group of mountain bikers and the accommodation was absolutely perfect for us and even had secure bike storage.

It was a little rough round the edges with freshly plastered walls in lots of the bedrooms. Had we been a large family group celebrating a special occasion we may have been a little disappointed with the cleanliness of the property but for us it was great. Thanks

Beechwood House is in a very quiet area with enclosed secure gardens but fairly close to local amenities.

I understand it’s fairly new to the holiday rental market having been a small care home. There’s a few things to sort out which will improve holidaymakers stay and I am sure this will happen very quickly. There is just one twin bedroom not two as stated on Sykes but three singles not two so it will sleep only 11 not 12.
