Hosts were great. We will be staying here again.

From the moment we arrived ,we were made to feel welcome at Torrings Barn.

The property was bright , clean and comfortable. It nestles in a quiet valley with wonderful walks from the door. The owners could not have been more helpful and hospitable.

Clean and bright.

Parking dreadful as very difficult to access and exit because of gates slant. Clean and bright. Cooking equipment poor and inadequate., Rusty drainer. Crockery stained and needed replacing. Extract fan did not work. Sofa very uncomfortable and needed replacing. Only 2 chairs so if family of 4 - hard luck. In fact too small a place for 4. Nice and quiet. Lacked washing up liquid, hand soap and loo rolls(even though obviously only needed the half one that was left for us.)

We loved Torrings Barn so much that we chose it as our return venue for our 2nd visit to Devon in 5 weeks.

Location is perfect - not too isolated but not overpopulated either and near to coastal walks, villages and the sea. The Barn is comfortable with all necessary amenities and equipment for our needs. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to get out and explore.

This is a lovely cottage in a great location for visiting the array of beaches and local area.

The owners are lovely and the setting is beautiful. The outdoor seating area gets the sun all day. The shops are not far away. Some of the roads are not for the feint hearted. There is walking from the door.

Stayed for 5 nights in May.

The cottage is situated in a perfect spot to take advantage of the coast around Kingsbridge, Salcombe, Bantham and Bigbury - all with about 15-20 mins of easy drive. Our one disappointment was that the pub - although less than a mile away as the crow flies - wasn't an easy walk (cross the main road and steep hills) so we gave up and drove somewhere instead. The cottage was perfect for two people and the medium sized dog. Roomy and private. All needs were met, kitchen stocked with everything that was required for 5 days (we were on holiday - let's face it, no gourmet cooking was attempted!). Contrary to a previous reviewer, we found the fridge and freezer compartment big enough for our needs. The only negative - if I am pushed to give one - is that, with the restriction of no dogs allowed upstairs or on the sofa, whilst understandable, it left only a small floor space for the dog, but with lovely countryside immediately outside, it wasn't really a problem. Our dog doesn't go upstairs anyway, but I can see how the suggestion of a stairgate would be useful for both dogs and children. The bed was extremely comfortable and we both slept very well. I loved the skylights over the bed. I want to congratulate the owners on the powerful shower. I could have stayed in it all day! The fresh flowers and the bubbly on arrival were a lovely touch and greatly appreciated. The owner has thought of everything to make the stay comfortable and we have no complaints. We would definitely come back again.

The cottage is in a great location, near the coast, and handy for Dartmoor too.

The owners are very helpful if you need anything. The kitchen and bathroom were modern and very clean. The Mattress and the Sofa would need updating for us to stay there again. We had a good week and the weather was fairly kind for October :)

A pleasant location but very basic regarding furnishings & kitchen equipment; the sofa has seen better days & suggest it should be replaced.

We recommend swapping the small under counter fridge for a tall fridge/freezer as we struggled to cope & there were only 2 of us; a family of 3-4 would equally struggle in our opinion. Lack of basic baking trays for the oven which was disappointing. Sadly no garden/grass of any relevance & despite welcoming a maximum of 2 dogs it would be prudent to install a 'baby gate' or equivalent at the bottom of the stairs to prevent access. Not really 'dog friendly' as too many restrictions to be fair. The painted staircase without any runner of floor covering at all we found somewhat dangerous & nearly slipped a couple of times. The laminated sheet depicting the TV remote controls needs updating! Unfortunately we couldn't access any terrestrial channels so were grateful for the DVD player, No means to open the high level Velux windows & the outside flood light by the parking space didn't work.

Lovely cottage in a peaceful location.

Well situated to visit the South Hams beauty spots. Well equipped and generally comfortable though maybe the double mattress could do with replacing. We were able to walk to the local pub via footpaths through the fields. Dog walking in the immediate vicinity restricted to the local lanes but next to no traffic.

A lovely little property in a beauiful location. The owners were very friendly and helpful. In terms of improvements, I would suggest ensuring there are enough towels and bin bags for the duration of the stay as it is inconvenient to have to keep asking for them. Also maybe some system in place for recycling. Thanks!

Good place to stay. Owners live next to the property but saw very little of them. Where helpful with were to go , local dog friendly beaches etc

The cottage was very clean and comfortable.

Great location for walking. Friendly owners. It was a peaceful area too. As dog owners, the access to the outside space wasn't ideal for us, as our spaniel likes exploring! Had to take him on his lead to the cottage's section. (The front door opens onto the owner's driveway area).

Compact and clean barn suitable for couple as dining table sits two.

Comfortable beds, good shower. Access to barn is down narrow lanes so need to be confident driver. Location good as near beaches and coastal towns. Advised owner of dripping tap.

The Barn, was very comfortable, and cosy.

It was in a very quiet location yet conveniently placed for places of interest near by. We found some great walks and local pubs for good food where dogs were very welcome. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely clean quiet cottage, great location for Bigbury bay and the estuary.

Good size for two adults and two teenage children. Fab shower, well resourced kitchen, comfy settee and beds. Lovely walk from near the cottage that joins to the Avon Estuary walk. We had a relaxing stay here many thanks.

Our stay at Torrings Barn was as wonderful as ever, so peaceful and quiet.

The Barn is very comfortable and the perfect place to unwind and relax, looking forward to next year already!

Perfect property for exploring South Devon, if you're a couple or also with 2 kids.

Comfortable and has everything you need. In addition, big thanks to owner Rachel for finding and posting back my young daughter's much-loved toy rabbits! These things make you want to return again.

The property was compact but had everything we needed. The local walks with the dog were very convenient and the scenery was beautiful.

Lovely well equipped cottage in beautiful surroundings and conveniently situated for all the nearby beaches, Kingsbridge and Salcombe.

Great to come straight out of the house and onto a dog walk, as it's so dog friendly it would have been good to have a dog secure garden with the addition of some chicken wire and some sort of temprorary closure under the arch so the dogs could be outside with us on the terrace without wandering off. A young family might need somewhere to dry clothes on a week's holiday.

Lovely cottage.

Space to park a medium sized SUV and to turn it around to avoid having to reverse on to the lane. Nice and clean and facilities were fine. Nice walks from the cottage. Aveton Gifford is about 20mins walk where there is a pub serving food until about 7pm.

Lovely little barn in a great location near to some lovely beaches such as south milton, hope cove etc.

Barn is very well laid out and even with four of us and a dog it felt like there was plenty of space. The drive into the parking area is tight but we have a long wheel base campervan which we parked fine. Owner was lovely and helped with all our requirements which was very much appreciated.

A wonderful barn conversion which offered everything required for a peaceful holiday.

Comfy beds, well provided kitchen and great shower. What more could you want. Minor issue with the internet but what can you expect in a relatively remote valley in Devon. Located close to some lovely towns and villages along with the splendors of Dartmoor. It was great to have the owners next door who helped with a rather unexpected problem we experienced whist staying.

A cosy location that felt remote but in good reach of local attractions and walks.

The advertised broadband/wifi was not working and we did not know about this until we arrived, making it difficult to check the weather and tide times. I agree with previous comments that the kitchen could have done with another saucepan, more teaspoons and tablespoons, but we coped!

Overall the accommodation was clean and tidy.

The kitchen could have done with a few extra’s e.g pint glasses, more pans and more teaspoons. The freezer was full of ice and made it unuseable. Duvets were far too thick for the summer months. There was literally nothing around within walking distance so if you are wanting a peaceful break away then this is perfect.

Poorly equipped kitchen wise.

Drive unweeded and untidy. Owners boat trailer left in property parking area made parking and turning the car round very very difficult. Patio completely unwelcoming, so dreary and drab did to want to sit there. No hanging baskets etc. Property completely unloved. Owners noisy slamming doors all evening to storage shed attached to Barn Cottage

Steps a little difficult otherwise perfect for two people.

Lovely, quiet location and helpful hosts. Just what the doctor ordered.

We were there in a wet May 2021 which could explain why the patio furniture was not ready for use.

We would expect this to be clean and ready as weather improves and hospitality sector gets back to normal.

Owners very helpful, cottage in good location for exploring the area.

Whilst being next door to the owners house there is no sense of being 'overlooked'. Plenty of good restaurants and beaches nearby, if only someone would open a pub serving food a walk away from the cottage it would be heaven

Rachel and Chris were very good, friendly but professional hosts.

The Barn had lovely touches that did not go un noticed. Flowers and prosseco awaited us. The sheets and fittings were of high quality. It was spotlessly clean and we felt safe in theses uncertain times of the pandemic. Rachel was scrupulous in following guidelines.

Lovely cottage, which is well presented and very comfortable.

As per the description, it has a relatively small space downstairs coupled with access to patio only (rather than wider garden), which we found challenging with two energetic younger children. Probably better suited to adults or those with one child / older children. Fantastic location for exploring South Devon. Would recommend.

A pleasant small cottage, in a lovely location.

To improve the overall experience the shower basin needs to have the mastic replaced as this was discoloured badly with mould. Otherwise it was a lovely holiday let.
