"Our third visit to Eddystone and as before, we thoroughly enjoyed it."
Really appreciated the bottle of fizz in the fridge. We thought the property was very clean (more so than in previous years). A couple of very small criticisms - we couldn't find any measuring scales in the kitchen and the sofas are getting a bit uncomfortable. A slightly bigger TV would be nice but other than that, it was perfect. Might very well return for a fourth visit next year!
Thank you for your feedback
Glad you enjoyed the house on your third visit
The cleaners will be delighted that you thought the house was clean as we all work very hard to look after Eddystone
We will listen and work on your suggestions and hope you come back again next year

"Very low standards of cleaning - fridge mucky, bin mucky, cobwebs visible"
We are very sorry the house was not to the standard of cleanliness you expected We will report this to
our cleaner and ensure this does not happen again
We would of course had put this right had you let us know.

"The property is in a very good location."
There are fabulous views from the top floor. I think that maybe the lighting situation should be mentioned before guests arrive so that they know how everything works. The property had everything that we needed, but some soap in the bathrooms on arrival would have been helpful. Fortunately we had a food delivery booked for the next day so we were able to update our order. Maybe a couple more tea towels would also have helped. We were catering for 8, so 2 tea towels for a week was not really enough. That said, we enjoyed our stay very, very much! The owner was extremely helpful when we got in touch with her.
Thank you so much for your positive feedback
The information about the lighting is in the guests information file but certainly we will make it clearer and more obvious for guests to access
We will indeed put more T towels out for the guests
I will ensure the cleaner fills the hand soap bottles Thank you for telling us
We are so lucky to have such a stunning view and location to the beach and coastal path
We do try to be helpful and efficient if quests have any queries or concerns
Once again thank you for the positive feedback
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay

"Perfect location and we all thought was great value for money."
We were very lucky with the great weather and so did not use the top floor much. Worked well with family members renting next door property too.
So pleased you had a good week at Eddystone and you appreciated the location Always good to have next door to rent if you are a large group Thank you for the positive feedback

"Sideboard door continually swung open, couldn't keep it closed."
Upstairs toilet flush didn't reset. Had to remove cistern lid and reset button after every use. Had to change fuse in toaster. Random sock on floor in front of washing machine. Wooden spoons all cracked, split and not fit for purpose. Had to wash 2 greasy oven trays, most of the cutlery and several glasses before use. Loved the location and the Upstairs lounge made it more special. Just needs some tlc.
We are very sorry you were not entirely happy with Eddystone
The toilet was reported to us after you left by the cleaner and mended within the hour Had you let us know we would have sorted this
I have checked with the guests who were staying the week before and the toaster was working when they left.
I will ask the cleaner to check on the washing up from previous guests when he does his clean
I do apologise about the sock in front of the washing machine and we have replaced the wooden spoons
We work very hard on our house to keep it to a good standard for our guests
We will continue to do this so people enjoy Eddystone as much as we do
Glad you liked the room with a view

"We really enjoyed our time at Eddystone."
The cottage is very spacious, and the kitchen is well stocked with plenty of kitchenware meaning it is great for 8 people. The views from the Snug room at the top of the house are fantastic, we spent many an evening watching the set set over the bay with a glass or two.
It is close to the beach, there is a path that leads from the rear gate down to the beach. Whilst a relatively short walk, it is a bit of a hill so bear that in mind if you have mobility issues.
As well as three bedrooms, there is plenty of living space - the kitchen/diner, the living room and the attic Snug mean it never feels crowded even if there are 8 of you. Plus a spacious decking area outside
The village itself is lovely. Several beaches are within walking distance, and there are two lovely pubs in the village (both serving great food) plus another great quirky restaurant called the lobster pot. The Cove pub also does takeaway.
One thing to bear in mind is that there is a small corner shop in the village which sells the basics, but other than that you need to get a big shop elsewhere. We did an online supermarket delivery for when we arrived and I’d recommend doing that.
We loved our stay and would certainly return.

"Lovely stay in the Eddystone accommodation."
Well equipped and comfortable furnishings. We had to have direct contact with the owners due to problems caused by the stormy weather and their response was both extremely prompt and very helpful. We would definately stay here again.
Thank you for your positive feedback The storm was wild and glad we were able to act promptly and efficiently !!

"Our second stay at Eddystone and as before, we had a very enjoyable time, considerably helped by the early October heatwave."
We were pleased to see that the house information board had been updated and the instructions are very comprehensive. (Curious though as to why we had to turn the stopcock off at the end of our stay). Glad to see the recycle boxes were present and correct as well. Only two very small niggles - the light in the downstairs bedroom didn't work and the windows in the master bedroom were difficult to keep partly open (it was a choice of fully shut or fully open). The prosecco in the fridge was very welcome. All in all, we loved Eddystone and will probably be back for a third visit next year.
So pleased you enjoyed your return visit to Eddystone and delighted you may consider coming again. Thrilled you love Hope cove as much as we do.
Sorry about the light .We have mended it and we will look at the windows in the main bedroom.
Glad you enjoyed the Prosseco and thank you for your helpful comments.
Pleased you have booked again for 2024

"Having looked after properties and cleaned them for a number of years we are fairly well versed in this area so to us this property falls short on certain issues, mainly on the fact that there was no welcome pack!"
In all our experiences of looking after and visiting similar establishments, there is always, always a welcome pack. So why not here? To us it shows the difference between people who really care about the place and those who take it for granted all people will be knocked out by the property! Considering the exorbitant price we paid for such a short time we think this property, sadly, falls into the latter catagory. This may be a standard in all your rentals, but in this day and age is totally not acceptable. Our arrival was delayed until 7pm therefore we didn't have time to get milk etc, it would have felt really good to have been welcomed by the giving of the basics to work from, but nothing of the sort! There was also the amount of do this and don't do that about the place, which we all felt a bit put out by. We can understand the reason, especially if the owner is a ex-naval person so the impact was minimal. CONCLUSION: If people care about places and people then thinking about what YOU would want and expect should be apparent and such a small touch can make a great deal of difference to those who rent such places. Also not to be so greedy, especially at this present time when greed is so prevalent!
Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. Firstly, may we say, we really hope you enjoyed your stay at Eddystone and the beautiful area of Hope Cove that it is situated in. We are truly sorry you were so disappointed not to find a welcome pack on your arrival, however we do hope you enjoyed the bottle of prosecco that was left for you by the owner. We care greatly for our guests and it is our main priority to ensure they have an enjoyable holiday, we will of course pass on your comments regarding the welcome pack. We are sorry you felt the laminates were too much, unfortunately we have had guests in the past that have been less respectful than yourselves and they have been implemented in the hopes that similar situations do not happen in the future. We do hope that you had a lovely holiday and that we can welcome you back to the area soon. Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of the owner.

"Just a few things we'd like to point out on what is otherwise a lovely little house in a superb location overlooking Hope Cove and the sea."
We notified Coast and Country/Sykes that we were expecting a third person to join us and were promised extra towels. Only two towel bales were given us. Also, there was no sign of any recyle boxes. According to the house notes, they should have been behind the house but there was no sign of them anywhere. We had to bring our recycling home. Also there was no timetable as to when the bin and boxes should be put out. The house notes said there should be a timetable on the pin board but there isn't. Also we were confused as to where to put used linen and towels at the end of the stay. The notes said put in bags. It wasn't until several days into the holiday that we discovered the bags hidden under the beds. The only other thing we found was that the dining room and kitchen are rather dark and had to keep the lights on during the day. All in all though, we loved our stay at Eddystone and may very well book it again.
Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback, we are thrilled you loved Eddystone. We are sorry that the towels were not left for you, we have no record of the call therefore we will investigate as to why this may be. We have spoken to the owner with regards to the rubbish, he has confirmed that there are two recycling boxes outside on the back wall and the instructions are on the pin board in the kitchen, we can only apologise that these were not seen. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and are delighted that you have already re-booked Eddystone for next year.

Access to both a garden and decking area was a real bonus. We would have welcomed a few more hand towels to leave in the bathrooms but that certainly wasn’t an issue.
