Tinkers Cottage

My mum & I stayed at Tinker’s Cottage back in April.

(Forgot to leave a review originally!!) It was lovely, very much a home from home. The host, Megan, was very accommodating on the run up to our stay, with her daughter taking over while Megan was away. The area experienced a power outage for one of the days we were there, however, there was fantastic communication from Megan, along with an emergency bag left on the doorstep (with battery-powered lamps, a flask of hot water etc) which was very thoughtful. We have 3 Shih-Tzus which were welcomed with open arms, they loved the open grass area opposite the cottage. Thank you so much for a great stay, Megan. (Apologies it’s took so long to write a review!). Would absolutely stay there again! :)

7 mins to Bigbury-on-sea. Very quiet and peaceful.

First, Tinkers Cottage is a lovey holiday let.

The problem with the area is that there is nothing else to do around there. The roads are also so small that you are constantly having to reverse into small passing places. This is because Bigbury on Sea has grown and the roads have not. Heavy trucks go down the lanes to make deliveries. If you don't mind that, Tinkers is good place to stay. It's got good internet via Star Link and is well furnished in the modern style. Please also understand that the cottage is in Bigbury up the hill from the sea. So, it will involve using the car to go to the beach. The car park doesn't come cheap either.

We had a wonderful week at Tinker’s Cottage: it’s very pretty, comfortable and well-equipped.

Communication with Megan was excellent, and we really appreciated her thoughtful touches and suggestions. (Top tip: follow Megan’s directions to the letter, and don’t be tempted - as we were - to follow the Google Maps suggestion that we approach the cottage by the rather hairy tidal road! ;) )

Beautifully appointed and charming spotlessly clean cottage.

Owner had thought about everything you would need for your stay and several things you might have forgotten too! Very quiet location with lovely walks round about.Not far down to the sea and the wonderful beach, with the sea visible from the cottage. Highly recommended for a quiet relaxing break

The property was warm, comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with good quality utensils, saucepans etc which is unusual in a lot of self catering properties.

The location was perfect for visiting the wonderful beaches and interesting coastal towns. Lots of beautiful doggy walks too.

The owners have thought of everything at this property.

On arrival we found the place was extremely clean and tidy. Everything we could have wanted was there for us. We felt very 'at home' right away. Parking space is very near the front door and there is a handy grass area for exercising the dog just a few steps away from the property. Location is great making for us enjoying a quiet and peaceful stay and the sea views from the back windows are stunning. This property is warm and cosy, there is heating but it wasn't needed during our late September stay. We look forward to returning next year.

Unfortunately the weather was not the best, but overall it was good to get away, having a lovely comfortable cottage made all the difference, Tinkers Cottage is a nice base to get to see Cornwall.

Very tidy and clean cottage that is well appointed and tastefully decorated throughout.

Felt like a luxury home from home, a real credit to you Megan. You could do home decoration professionally.

Tinkers Cottage AA5* PLUS.

Had everything you could need to enjoy the stay. Megan the owner could not be more helpful and friendly so 110%. The pub in Hope Cove great food as was Gara Rock. If you go to The Sloop Bantham take a good book to read with food average.

We had a lovely brief stay at the Cottage.

It's well-equipped and cosy, within a friendly local community. There are footpaths to pick up just across the road and lots of local walks including down to the river and beach. The owners were very thoughtful, and we were very appreciative of the dog towel! The single beds are a good size for teenagers. The local pub (The Pickwick Inn) was pretty ropey for food, best avoided, but there were plenty of other places nearby. Thanks for a lovely stay.
