  • "This cottage was a wonderful place to stay, it gets 10 for everything and was great value for money."

In our opinion The pictures on Sykes site do not do it full justice! It was so much better than we expected. The owner was also lovely, making personal contact via text to make sure we were ok and warning us of such things as when grass cutting were to be done. Additionally the view from the cottage was to die for and the property was well situated for site seeing, walking and amenities.

Dera Marion, Thank you for your passionate feedback it is always a boost to me to hear that the property is managing to stay at a high quality and of course, the landscape trumps this always. Many Thanks Bridget Property Owner

  • "The house is cosy, well equipped and comfortable."

Bridget is an excellent host, friendly and very responsive to queries. It is a short walk down a single track road to the village, which has a small shop and pub. The views from the house are lovely and the garden has plenty of seating for enjoying the peace and quiet.

  • "Wottonsbury is a wonderful cottage in a fantastic location, perfectly placed for exploring Dartmoor and the south coast of Devon."

It’s cosy and very well-equipped, and a lovely, peaceful place to come back to each evening. We appreciated the extra touches, like the binoculars for getting a closer look at wildlife in the garden, and the very welcome bottle of Prosecco! The photos don’t do it justice - it’s even better than it looks.

Thank-you Claire for your lovely feedback. It gives me real pleasure to hear you had a relaxing time. Best Bridget Property Owner

  • "We had a fab week in this cottage."

Superb position in the moors and with beautiful, far reaching views. Everything we needed was there. Loved the little village of Ilsington, just a short stroll away. Handy little community shop and pub too!

  • "Second time here and loved it just as much as the first time!"

It's a delightful place to stay, brilliantly located next to Dartmoor with walks straight from the front door. Bridget is so very helpful and provides all the little things (soap, washing up liquid etc) and let's face it - if the little things are right, you can't go wrong. The peace and quiet and the views cannot be beaten.

Thank-you for your nice comments. So glad the 2nd time was as good as the first. All the best Bridget Property Owner

  • "What a lovely holiday in an amazing property and garden."

Everything we needed and a great location to explore Dartmoor, Dartmouth and Paignton. We walked the dog to the local pub and had a great meal out. The house had lots of extras that I didn't expect. The milk, tea, coffee and bubbles were a great welcoming, thank you. The only small suggestion would be that it's time for the summer duvets to come out. However we still had a great family holiday, thanks again.

Dear Peter , Thank-you for taking the time to review the property and so glad you got the wonderful weather to enjoy the area. I will certainly organise the duvets to be changed to the summer ones for the next guests.. Many Thanks Bridget Property Owner

Just sitting in the kitchen diner with the wood burner on in the evenings, a glass of wine at hand was so restful, we feel very relaxed , just what a holiday should do. Fantastic.

  • "The property is all about the views!"

As previous visitors have stated the beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the property and surrounding countryside. The missing items for us were a large straightforward teapot and adequate lighting in the lounge

Dear Martin, I'm glad your stay was comfortable and your feedback it is very helpful. I will certainly sort these two details out. Many Thanks Bridget Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay thank you very much."

The house is in an ideal location, great facilities, we had everything we needed and more. The beds were probably one of the most comfortable beds we’ve had at a holiday home. Thank you also for getting back to me so quickly when I contacted you. The only reason I have give an 8 for recommendation is because the garden is not suitable for toddlers with the different levels and stairs. It didn’t affect us much as we did not use it but for friends of mine with young children I would not recommend to them however I would to others.

Thank-you Kim for taking the time for your feed back it is very helpful for people to understand the property when they book. So good to hear the beds were comfortable and you had what you needed. When your little ones are a bit bigger come visit again hopefully with a little more sun and flower blooming. • "We really enjoyed our stay."

The property exceeded expectations. It was comfortable and well equipped and some and some really nice touches both inside and out and stunning views. Village setting was lovely. Only recommendation might have been some lighter bedding for the summer as it was very warm and a bbq to fully enjoy the outside space.

Dear David, Thank-you for your kind feedback and suggestions. I have now purchased lighter duvets for the summer months . I will certainly consider supplying a BBQ and will start sourcing an appropriate one for the property. Many thanks for your stay. Best Bridget Property Owner

  • "Property is easy to reach if you don't mind single track roads."

It is, however difficult to spot as not very well signed. We went past twice before spotting the (small) sign. Kitchen is well kitted out although we were analogue people in a digital kitchen, Had difficulty with the induction hob, had minor learning problems with the microwave (which is sited in a difficult corner) and never mastered the Nespresso machine. Adequate cutlery and plates but could have done with a few more cups. Beds were fine and comfortable, duvets were designed for a siberian winter, not a british summer. Overall we were pleased with the accommodation and had no major complaints (only the little niggles noted).

We had a great week here at Wottonsbury, the place is wonderful - fantastic views and crisp sheets, what more could you want in life? We took several walks from Wottonsbury on to Dartmoor, which was just ace for us and our four legged pal Boo. Every little detail had been considered for our comfort. We will be back. Thank you.

The property

Sitting on the outskirts of Ilsington, within the Dartmoor National Park in Devon is this fabulous, semi-detached cottage of Wottonsbury.

Enjoying exceptional views of the countryside, whilst being within easy reach of the coast, Wottonsbury is the perfect setting for a family of four who want the best of both worlds during their Devon getaway.

After parking in one of the two provided parking spaces, take some time to absorb your lovely surroundings before walking down the gentle flight of steps to the house and heading inside.

A large utility area greets you as your enter the dwelling: an idea space to leave your coat and boots (or maybe a wet furry friend by closing the internal stable door) before moving into the comfortable house.

You'll find the sitting room located off the attractive hallway: a superb space for unwinding, thanks to its charming furnishings and TV.

After a moment of relaxation, continue to the kitchen/diner, a room that has not only been attractively designed but also features everything you need to create culinary treats, alongside offering a coffee machine for the mornings.

After the budding chef of the family has rustled up dinner here, enjoy it at the dining table, or take it out to one of the gardens for an alfresco meal.

As the day comes to an end, retreat upstairs to two delightful bedrooms, a double and a twin (which can be a super-king double bed on request) that enjoy far-reaching views of the rolling hills.

Also on this floor rests the bathroom, a well-fitted space with a bath and separate walk-in shower for you to unwind in before or after a day packed with fun.

Make the most of the outdoor spaces and venture out to the garden, where multiple patios host ample seating for you to relax on as you soak up the vistas; there's also a fire pit, so you can enjoy toasty nights under the stars.

Wottonsbury is located just one mile from the famous Haytor Rocks on Dartmoor which offers a great starting point for extended walks or picnic.

Wild swimming for those who dare. Travel a little further into the moor for a cream tea in the ancient village of Widecombe in the Moor or to enjoy a local beer in the garden of the The Rugglestone Inn.

Teignmouth, Paignton, and Torquay are all close by, offering coastal excursions.

Local sporting facilities include floodlit municipal tennis courts, small skate park and children play area 1 minute from the house and a 15-minute drive to Bovey Tracey golf course and heated outside municipal pool.

A marvellous stay for you and your loved ones awaits at Wottonsbury.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.
