  • "Well what can we say about this amazing property."

Peter and Jackie are perfect hosts. Luddon Farm and Orchard Cottage is a peaceful and tranquil haven. Its quaint and quirky layout and decor was perfect. Such a Gem of a place, so glad we found it! Would love to return some time soon. The owners are so thoughtful they make you feel so welcome and let you settle in and explore this idyllic setting. Giving you lots of little pointers to make your stay even more relaxing and smooth running. Nothing was too much of a problem! Even our little dog, who can be a little protective, nervous or over excitable at times; where new things and places are involved loved his stay. He was intrigued by all the other animals on the farm. None of us wanted to leave including our two older teenage kids. That is saying something, as they are sometimes difficult to please not always wanting to do the same thing. The Hot tub made a wonderful addition to the holiday, which was another thing we all thoroughly enjoyed!

The cottage was beyond expectation, quirky and the most well equipped we have ever stayed in and the front and back gardens were secure enough for our Jack Russell especially while we were in the hot tub...what a bonus that was. Cream tea, fresh eggs from their own chickens, milk, bread and home made jam were very welcoming. Peter said we could exercise our Jack Russell in his 'sand field' which was perfect as it was fully enclosed and Lloyd loved it. If you're not familiar with the area please speak to Peter because his knowledge of local amenities and places of interest are second to none. Thank you both for a wonderful, memorable holiday, hope to come back soon.

We chose this cottage for its hot tub and quirky design. We were not disappointed. The area is so beautiful and quiet. The views from the cottage are wonderful. The hot tub was fantastic! I was worried that being at the front of the cottage it wouldn't be private but it was so we could all enjoy it. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. When we arrived the radio was gently playing in the background which I thought was a nice touch as were the lovely fresh flowers, bread, milk, fresh eggs from the farms chickens, biscuits, homemade jam ( which was delicious) We were aloud to pet the dogs, horses and to feed the chickens which I loved. I would definitely recommend this beautiful quirky cottage to everyone. Our teenage daughter loved having the bottom floor to herself. This cottage hit the spot. We have all had a wonderful time.

We were very lucky with the weather and explored the area every day, Okehampton is a beautiful, friendly town and is ideally situated for getting onto the moor and other attractive villages very easily. We walked miles each day, then returned to have a welcome dip in the hot tub. The hosts were welcoming and always around to help with any queries we had and to top up the logs well before we ran out. We went in July 2020. Realising I hadn’t left a review, I knew I must because this place is a real Gem. We were greeted by Peter who made us feel so welcome & it really felt like home from home. We couldn’t believe the hamper that was left for us on arrival, and fresh flowers, it really is going the extra mile to make this place extra special. The cottage itself is beautiful, so quaint & perfect. Everyone commented on our photos. In fact one of my work colleagues Mrs Narin asked for the link & booked the following weekend. It’s really is a find and a great base for exploring the beautiful Devon. Thank you x

There is a lovely log burner which we found easy to use and all logs provided. All furniture, bedding and curtains were clean and of above average quality and very ‘homely’. It was in a beautiful setting and although it was mid winter we still used the hot tub daily. It is in easy access of Dartmore and lots of country walks and within an hour of the beach. We will definitely visit again, thank you Peter and Jackie.

  • "We loved this cottage, it was so quirky but so cosy."

We originally booked it because it had a hot tub, but we were so snuggled, comfy & cosy that we didn't get round to using it, so we will definitely be back. I could live in it permanently xx Peter and Jackie our hosts were lovely and so helpful and the extras that we were not expecting were amazing. Along with tea and coffee making facilities, they left us milk, bread, butters, sauces, jams, crisps, chocolates, a complete cream tea ( so nice) a bottle of Prosecco, orange juice plus much more that I can't remember. The bathroom had every toiletry a lady would need amazing, plus robes for use with the hot tub. As we stayed there over the Christmas period, it was all decorated beautifully, we had a Christmas in the entrance hall and another huge one in the lounge. With the fairy lights and the log burner, we were in heaven. I can not praise this cottage or our hosts enough. 5 STARS... 10/10 Thank you xx

The cottage itself was made to feel so Christmassy with Christmas trees, decorations, lights, the whole works!! It looked and felt so magical and a home from home, we were so impressed and it certainly exceeded our expectations. We have never stayed at a cottage with so many little extras included from the cream tea on arrival and bottle of prosecco as it was Christmas, also all the little essentials like bread, milk, cereals, butter, jams, tea, coffees, biscuits, the list goes on.. I would definitely recommend staying at this cottage for a cosy, peaceful stay in a beautiful rural location and the hot tub was a lovely added extra, which we made the most of!! We will certainly be returning for another stay in the near future. Thank you again to Peter and Jackie for making us feel so welcome and for a memorable Christmas break.

We have stayed in many self catering cottages over the years but the little extras with this one were beyond all expectations, there were all toiletries, milk,, tea, coffee, biscuits, cereal, fresh flowers and even a cream tea. Of course the hot tub was a great addition , being able to sit in it watching the birds and sunsets was a high point of our holiday. There were many places to visit nearby including Bude, Looe, Dartmoor Prison, Dartington Crystal, Widecombe on the Moor and Okehampton Castle. We would all recommend staying at The Orchard.

  • "If you are looking for excellent accommodation in beautiful surroundings then The Orchard is the place to be!"

On arrival we were greeted by the owners (Peter and Jackie) who made us feel very welcome . It was such a lovely surprise to enter the kitchen area to see a lovely cream tea waiting for us and fresh flowers ! When you have travelled a long journey the last thing you want to do is to dash out to the nearest shop to buy essentials . However this wasn’t necessary as there was bread, milk , eggs and other essentials ready and waiting ! There is so much to see and do within only a few miles of the accommodation . There is local bike hire, lovely villages ( with good pub food ). We have teenage children and were spoilt for choice on theme parks. Bude beach is great and well worth a visit . The icing on the cake was discovering that Peter and Jackie also have dog kennels. We have a 7 month old puppy called Willow and up until that point we had never left her with anyone . However , the kennels were really spacious and the fee very reasonable . It was quite obvious that Peter and Jackie are dog lovers so it was nice to know our willow was well cared for whilst we had a couple of trips out without her. We had a wonderful holiday and will definitely be returning.

Everything in the cottage was spotlessly clean and ready for us on arrival. We found the dog sitting services invaluable as we were able to leave the dogs knowing they were safe in the newly built kennels and would get a walk on the days we wanted to visit places dogs were not allowed. The area is beautiful and a perfect base for exploring Devon and surrounding areas will make a return visit some time in the future cannot recommend this place enough thank you for making our holiday perfect

The owners were sensitive to our needs and interacted when necessary whilst ensuring us that they were always available if need be. They are kind souls and it was a pleasure to be looked after by them.  The accommodation is ideally situated with supermarkets in Oakhampton and Tavistock which we found useful to visit on a return drive from walking on Dartmoor. They made sure the cottage was warm on our arrival and stocked with bread and milk, scones with jam and cream, and all sorts of extras we didnt expect. The area was beautiful and we couldn't have asked for more! The owners were on hand always should we need anything extra, and made sure we were ok for logs for the fire etc. They also said we didn't need to rush to leave which was really nice. We struggled to get our dog to leave when we came home! I think he wanted to move in.
