  • "On arrival a Devonshire cream tea, milk and eggs were left for us which was greatly appreciated."

The cottage was extremely comfortable, well equipped, spotlessly clean in a beautiful location with the farm animals and birds all around. A great place for children to see the animals which were not averse to being petted. The garden is totally enclosed and great for dogs and the farm dogs are so friendly they didn't cause any bother. For walkers there are plenty of great walks nearby, Dartmoor being just down the road, and many places of interest. All in all just the place I would return to.

  • "Great place to stay, lovely to see a working farm."

I found it great for the children and the dog loved it. Owners are friendly and approachable. Highly recommend it.

  • "The Bowden family are so welcoming."

Lovely place and great place to stay with lots to do. Two teenagers loved the farm and farm dogs. Fabulous holiday!

  • "We had a lovely holiday at Bowbeer Farm."

The owners and their son were very welcoming and friendly. They also provided us with a good supply of farm eggs and sausages which were great value. The accommodation is very homely. Our teenagers loved the dogs on the farm, all the animals and having a pond to fish in. It was a god send as when we came back from a day out, the fishing gave them something to do that didn’t involve tech. Bowbeer Farm is in a beautiful area and fairly central for visiting many places. My ownly useful tip would be some better mattresses on the twin beds. They were very hard and my daughter really struggled to sleep on hers, so ended up on the sofa for several nights. Everything else was perfect though! Thank you so much.

  • "Fabulous Barn, with lovely welcoming touches such as flowers, milk & a scrummy cream tea."

We really enjoyed our stay here. Location is great for walking or visiting attractions. The Barn was well equipped and just perfect for us, as well as really comfortable.

  • "Bowbeer farm was a wonderful place for animal lovers, our dogs enjoyed the interaction with the dogs, cats and the various birds that would visit daily."

The owners were very nice and showed us around and educated us on the running of a working farm. The accommodation was excellent and great for 2 couples or a family. Great central point to visit most parts of Devon and Cornwall, roads in and out of property as of most B roads in the area are a bit hairy. Absolutely loved it.

  • "A lovely home from home, all information was very clear and just across from the house if you needed anything."

Scones, milk and eggs were a lovely touch for arrival. Great location to go on walks on Dartmoor and visit other local attractions. Would highly recommend it. Thanks

  • "We spent a wonderful week at Bowbeer Barn In Devon."

The Barn itself was beautifully set out and to have fresh scones, cream, jam and eggs left by the owners was such a lovely thought. The facilities within the Barn were second to none with nothing missing at all from the kitchen including all utensils needed being there. The position of the Barn is central for lovely walks on Dartmoor. Daily visits by the farm dogs was lovely. Going back to stay again next May.

  • "It was a wonderful, spacious barn conversion in an excellent location close to many great hiking/walking spots."

The Fingle Bridge / Hunter's Tor walk is a must, as is the Yes Tor area near Okehampton.

The property

This detached cottage converted from a Victorian barn is situated on a large beef and sheep farm just over a mile from the Devon village of Drewsteignton.

With an upside down layout, it is an exceptionally peaceful place to relax and enjoy the peace and unpolluted night skies.

Steps from the garden take you into the open plan oak-floored living space, light and airy with seating area with wood burning stove, dining area and kitchen.

Stairs lead you down to the two en suite bedrooms and a useful space for leaving coats and boots after lovely countryside walks.

The enclosed garden is a great spot to chill out and gaze at long rural views to Dartmoor whilst you cook on the barbecue and eat alfresco.

You will have worked up an appetite by walking the fields or perhaps going a little further afield to the open spaces of Dartmoor.

You are welcome to bring your rods to fish for carp in the small farm pond.

Surrounded by spectacular scenery and with the little town of Chagford and Exeter city within easy reach, Bowbeer Barn is a great central spot for exploring Devon.
