The cottage is great but there were a few issues on arrival.
One the large step into the property at the front door. Two the two flight to get to the bedroom. The reason for this is my partner has mobility issues with his legs so accessibility is not great but we managed. Also the cleanliness of the bathroom wasn't great with stains in the bath, mirrors and shower screen had been wiped over with a dirty cloth so stained. Grease stains on the cook hob and around the knobs. Also the downstairs toilet has old urine so wasn't flushed. I also had to clean plates and cutlery as well. I had WhatsApp Mr Harris but go no reply so have to express by thoughts here as he did have an opportunity to apologise. The positives, great property in a lovely location with off road parking. Heating system worked well. Very comfortable apart from the main bedroom mattress being to soft. Attention to detail would of given a higher rating. I hope the next customer doesn't have the same issues. Happy to send photos if you are interested.

The twin bedroom is too cramped.
Would be more practical to have 2 singles in the larger room and a double in the smaller room. Otherwise excellent

A lovely cottage very well equipped and comfortable bonus dog friendly the outside seating area is good the owners have a beautiful holiday let and are very friendly the local amenities are great the coop is always well stocked with friendly staff and the Chinese & Indian (by the co-op) also fish and chips (don’t go to early and staff can be a bit abrupt but the food is good lovely flaky cod in a crispy batter also local pubs ar good and if you enjoy a walk there are plenty also a must is a visit to Fowey Wine Distillery is excellent and the the naval butchers is a must pasties are best we have ever had and all the meat is from local resources we have several times in this lovely cottage and will return again
Well equipped holiday home, & clean & comfortable accommodation.
Ample off road parking. Location great for a walk around the quaint & picturesque town of Lostwithiel. Which offers great places to eat, & lovely country walks by the river.
Really good accommodation with all the facilities we could want and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Handy for walks into town and also great walks for the dog close by where we could let our lively spaniel off the lead to use some of her surplus energy. Good parking provided on site and outside seating area which looked fine although we didn't actually get round to using it. Well stocked Co-op in town and interesting independent shops including Bellamama which is full of delicious homemade food to enhance any picnic and a 50s style ice cream shop which the grandchildren loved. Highlight on a sunny day was Lantic Bay beach which is quiet and unspoilt with access down a steep stepped path from the National Trust car park which took us about ½ an hour each way.
Well equipped property in perfect location with the added bonus of private parking.
Our 2nd visit to Old Talbot cottages (previously No 2). We met the very nice owner who checked that we had everything we needed, thank you.
This was a home from home cottage with parking set in a wonderful setting with everything you need on your doorstep.
I would definitely select this vacation again in the future. Owners were available if you have any issues, they were very welcoming.

REAL GEM OF A COTTAGE, WITH PARKING WHICH IS ALWAYS A BONUS, VERY HAPPY TO HAVE FOUND THIS ONE AS IT WAS OUR FOURTH STAY IN LOSTWITHIEL.
EVERYTHING WORKED AS IT SHOULD DO, HEATING, HOT WATER ETC ALL PERFECT. MIGHT EVEN TRY NUMBER 2 NEXT TIME, BUT WILL DEFINATLY BE BOOKING ONE OF THEM THE NEXT TIME WE ARE STAYING IN LOSTWITHIEL
Easy to find, road access and parking very good.
First impressions really good, very welcoming especially the bottle of wine and doggy treats. Property very clean and extremely well equipped had everything you could need in the kitchen ! Good location to explore Mid Cornwall and it’s attractions.

Has everything you could possibly need when away from home. Our second time staying here and we'll be back for a third time next year. It's kinda central, so you can go anyway from Falmouth to Looe, even Padstow. And a fab bottle of bubbly & dog treats on arrival, PERFECT xxx

A fabulous warm cottage in a great location,the instructions on locating it were spot on.
The cottage and grounds are very well kept. The beds and sofas are very comfortable,loads of storage everywhere,well equipped kitchen (no dishwasher) but that didn't bother us, the only thing we thought it needed is a grab rail in the bathroom. We would all love to stay there again in the future. Lostwithiel is a beautiful little town with lovely independent shops and lots of friendly pubs to eat and drink in.

Lovely cottage ideally situated for our needs & with everything needed for our stay.
Located very close to village & near the river. Co op very well stocked for a small store. Takeaway across the way the best I have ever had. No problem with parking. No noise from adjoining cottage. Slight niggles. Water doesn't get very hot so no need to add any cold to the bath. Black walls in bathroom show up all limescale marks so appears not to be clean, when it probably is. Rail in kitchen knocked off regularly as too close to fridge. Glass coffee table in living room had me a bit nervous. I do think if there were 4 adults staying the living area would be a bit cramped. I would definitely stay again, but would go for the larger cottage next door I think for a but extra room.
Thank you for your feedback. We take your comments very seriously, and do pay attention to any niggles. The towel rail in kitchen has been replaced and moved to a better position, now located on the underside of the worktop. The rectangular glass tabletop has been replaced with a smaller oval one, for more room and safety. There is now also a grab rail in the bathroom. The gas boiler has been checked and serviced, and the water does get hot. We hope you will stay again.
A beautiful well appointed cottage.
Everything we could want, comfortable, very clean, warm, plenty of hot water, parking and welcoming. One of the best cottages I have stayed in. Can't fault it at all. And in the lovely town of Lostwithiel. Absolutely 5 star.

Perfect spot for exploring Cornwall.
Nice and secure for our dogs and walking distance from three great pubs. Spotless cottage with friendly owners. Home from home and the desk area (wifi) is perfect for "working from home whilst on holiday!" we will be going back, nice touch with dog treats and prosecco! (prosecco not for the dogs, they were driving)

Loved staying at this property, only a couple of minor issues to note.
Any water being drawn ie, turning on a tap flushing a toilet resulted in a lot of noise ! I noticed you had a problem with a square coffee table ,and replaced it with an oval glass one, personally, an oval solid / wooden one would be a better option . A hand rail for entry/ exit for the bath/ shower. The fan supplied is very noisy!! The neighbours parking could have been more considerate. Apart from these minor issues, we would love to stay again.

We've had a lovely stay at this charming cottage in the pretty village of Lostwithiel.
Myself and my husband needed to use it as a home from home, both of us working for a couple of days whilst here. It was perfect; so comfortable, so well equipped and the WiFi was very fast, even with 2 of us working and on video calls. I used a purpose built desk upstairs and my husband the dining table downstairs. The owners seem to have thought of everything you could need and I didn't need to use anything I'd brought from home. It is extremely clean and beautifully decorated with plenty of storage space upstairs. When not working, it was a perfect place from which to explore the village and the rest of Cornwall. We ate in The Globe in the village, which was lovely. I can also recommend Haveners in Fowey ("Foy") which wasn't our first choice, but they found us a table on a busy day and couldn't have been any more friendly. The dressed crab was superb and well worth the walk back up the steep hill to the main car park! We met the cottage owners, who owns both 1 and 2 Old Talbot, a lovely, welcoming couple. Thank you very much for the bubbly you left for us and we hope to be back soon. We're very happy to recommend your beautiful cottage to everyone.

2nd visit to this lovely cottage, it has so many added extras and we were delighted to find the cottage has had a fabulous garden/dining area built since our last visit.
It has great views over Lostwithiel and the hills beyond. We had a breakfast and evening meal taking in the view. Lostwithiel is a very pretty town and the cottage is a couple of minutes walk from pubs, shops and the River Fowey with a wide range of beaches within a 15 minute drive. Looking forward to our next visit already

Good Central location for touring Cornwall and railway station 5 minutes walk away.
Comfortable, clean and well located in the town.
Second bedroom is a bit of a squeeze but suited our 12 and 8 year olds fine. The owners kindly let us use an outside socket to charge our electric car. We would be very happy to return to Talbot Cottages.

We stayed at 1 Talbot Cottage from 23 to 30 October 2023 as we were visiting family nearby.
The house was a perfect base for our week and we felt it was a home from home. Beautifully presented, very well equipped and so comfortable. We would definitely recommend this property and if we are in the area again we will hope to be able to stay here again.

Lovely comfortable cottage, well decorated, comfortable sofa, chairs and bed.
Really close to pubs, restaurants, shops. Ideal situation for exploring local attractions . Only downsides are - no garden - but table and chairs provided on gravel drive protected by a wall. A bit of road noise from the bedroom.

We loved our stay.
The cottage was very clean and well furnished. Welcome treats on arrival were much appreciated as was the early check in. We would stay here again in the future. Lots of books to read, local area info, nice outside space. The location is great, central location to nearby shops and restaurants. Nice walk for the dogs by the river.

Easy access to a range of pubs and shops, Chinese takeaway across the road only downside was the noisy road but after the first night I got used to it. Great base to explore the parts of Cornwall we hadn't been before. Would definitely recommend.

Having travelled on many occasions all over the country staying at cottages my husband and I found this cottage outstanding in presentation.
All needs catered for and paying particular attention to persons comfort. Delight being pet friendly. The cottage was placed within a few minutes walk from the train station which we used on occasions to travel to different places in Cornwall. Lostwithiel is a beautiful place full of history and well worth getting to know. Would definitely book this cottage again and also recommend to others.

Just had a wonderful second visit to this lovely cottage.
We really appreciate being able to park safely off the road there and not having to worry about using local car parks. Everything is very cosy and comfortable and provides everything we could need, and the owners are friendly and helpful and respond quickly to any queries. Within easy reach we visited Charlestown and Fowey, both breathtakingly beautiful, St Austell (which sadly is not!), the Duchy of Cornwall nursery gardens, plus a shopping trip to Trago, a visit to a new organic restaurant (soon to add farm shop, cafe and garden walk) in a fabulous setting at Crocadon Farm near Saltash, and of course spent time in Lostwithiel itself which we love. We definitely hope to return next year!

We were very happy with the cottage itself although we did find that the main road was very noisy.
Lostwithiel is a quaint little town which has a river running through with picnic tables ideal for families. There are plenty of local walks around although we only walked up to Restormel castle which was interesting. All-in all we had a good week.

The location was excellent, visiting both south and north coasts and the cottage was beautifully equipped and clean with everything that we could have needed, including a very efficient oven and very comfortable beds. The ideal holiday of going out for the day and then leaving the car in order to enjoy the local hospitality as well as your very thoughtful bottle of wine, much appreciated.

We had a lovely stay with two adults, a young child and a baby.
The house had everything we needed including a high chair and plenty of equipment for cooking our own meals (when we weren’t enjoying the delicious fish and chips in the village). The location was perfect, with the playing fields and river so close behind the house for restless little people. We also enjoyed the views over the valley sitting at the outside table. The WiFi was surprisingly fast for a small village and fine for working from “home”. The owners couldn’t do enough to make us comfortable. Will definitely book again.

A beautifully equipped cottage with everything we needed after long days walking on the coast path.
Plentiful hot water and comfortable beds. Easy and private parking for 2 cars, in the centre of Lostwithiel. Lostwithiel is really interesting with several good places to eat and has easy access to lots of Cornwalls south coast. We'd love to go back to Old Talbot Cottage and fully recommend it.

5* experience, we stayed for 4 weeks and loved the cottage, nicely decorated and tastefully fitted out.
If you are looking at staying in Lostwithiel this is ideally located with everything within walking distance (pubs x4, shops, river, country walks and train station). With the added bonus of Parking for 2 cars. This is a big Bonus as not many places in Lostwithiel have there own parking. The owners are very kind and accommodating who clearly really care about how your Holiday experience is. Cannot find any fault with The Talbot, you wont be disappointed.

The cottage was lovely with everything that you need for a self catering holiday and for a couple or a small family I would highly recommend it.
