Had all necessary facilities but the house needs a thorough clean, the settees are filthy and tatty and need to go to the tip..

  • "The location of the cottage was stunning."

Amazing view of the harbour and very quiet Definitely worked off tea walking back up the hill/steps but worth it. We didn't try and park in the road but used the long stay car park which was just short walk down the hill by the fish market.

Otherwise this is the 2nd time we have been to this holiday let. The last time was 10 years ago! The extension to the downstairs and the addition of the small balcony provided even more lovely views.

Property was lovely though, decking was dangerous when wet, but there were signs up warning of this.

Thank you for this . I will arrange for the KeySafe to be repaired as soon as possible and replace the broken lamp. Property Owner

Parking can be found on local streets ,the house location is on hill but a quick walk to the harbour via steps but not for anyone with mobility issues . House is quite stylish maybe upgrade the furniture in lounge upgrade kitchen utensils etc.,.I would recommend the house views outstanding.

  • "All that we expected except for a place to park our car less than a mile away!"

Folk next door were kind and helpful. The three floor levels were accessed by quite steep stairs! The outside terraces gave splendid views of the harbour and the dinghy racing areas. The house was perhaps 100ft up the cliffside and consumed our energy to visit the town centre around the harbour.

  • "The cottage was filthy when we arrived, couldn't sit outside on the patio because all the furniture was covered in bird droppings and obviously had never been cleaned, the upstairs toilet had excrement stuck to the bowl ad in the pan and the general state of the place was awful, we stay in cottages every year(particularly in Brixham)and we have never come across one so bad, what was even worse was when we rang the number Sykes gave su for any problems(it turned out to be the owner of the cleaning company contracted to clean the property)to be told "what do you expect me to do±!"

Im at a wedding 90 miles away, nobody else has complained and the owners were in it 2 weeks ago and they were happy about it, this was 6pm on a Saturday night, we managed to contact somebody at Sykes who said they would try and sort it, we were then promised a cleaning team on the Sunday, they never arrived. The cleaning company owner and his wife eventually arrived at 7pm on the Sunday night and cleaned the patio and generally gave the place a clean. On the following Friday we were asked to strip the beds for a linen change(we were there 2 weeks)we noticed 2 of the pillows were stained when we took the pillowcases off so asked the cleaning company owner could we have 2 new pillows, his answer! "I don't have pillows where do you expect me to get pillows from" considering he's in the holiday business we have never met anyone so rude, also considering we paid over £2000 for the Property the treatment we received was appalling, to be fair to Sykes they have given us £178 back in compensation, but all in all a terrible experience, we will not be using Sykes again and we will certainly never book this cottage again!

  • "It's a beautiful spacious house and the views are stunning."

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but it could have been even better. A few feedback notes: Parking - not a problem off-season, but could prove tricky in the height of summer. You just have to be flexible and park where you can. Wifi/Broadband - wasn't a problem for us and our 7 year old managed to use his ipad without any issues. I imagine live-streaming a film would be challenging though The bed in the room overlooking the port is a small double bed, not a standard and should be listed as such. A decent set of knives (as previously mentioned by other guests) would be useful. Other welcome additions to the kitchen would be a garlic press and oven gloves. Also a washing up sponge with scouring pad. There's a fault with the ignition button on the gas hob that needs sorting. It lights ok, but the ignition sparks continuously unless you switch the oven off at the wall. This solution however is no use if you're also using the electric oven at the same time as the hob! If you're providing a dishwasher and a washing machine then it would be thoughtful to provide a handful of dishwasher tabs and washing machine tabs or failing that, ask guests to bring their own. Likewise with black rubbish bags. Access to a hoover or the provision of a long-handled soft broom to sweep up crumbs in the kitchen would have been good. There's something loose on the roof or the chimney and in windy conditions there's a banging/rattling noise that kept anyone sleeping in the attic bedroom awake. We'd advise the owner to investigate this because if it is something like a loose tile then it needs repairing. Obviously if it's something on a neighbouring property then there's probably nothing that can be done which is a shame as it really was loud and we wouldn't return again (as a group of four) as the top room became unusable and my son had to share with his gran downstairs which wasn't ideal.

  • "There were a couple of issues we had with the property."

Firstly there were no sharp knives in the kitchen. We really struggled with food preparation. Secondly the broadband isn't slow, it's almost non-existent. There were times when we only had one device connected to the internet and we still couldn't stream standard quality video. I ran a speed test a number of times, I didn't think people used basic standard broadband anymore.

  • "Had a lovely stay!"

The kitchen/diner/terrace did not disappoint! I would have liked there to have been more bin bags (looked like we only had the 1 in the kitchen bin) as a booking of 6 adults was always going to need more but it was strange buying an entire roll for a 1 week stay.

This will be shared with the property owner. Lovely cottage and great views. We would come back and stay and recommend to friends and family. We had a 3 year old with us and felt that the decking area needed a gate at the top, as was rather unsafe for young and old! Could have done with a sweep and the glass cleaned. • "Overall the property was very good."

More time is needed with the cleaning process, it was generally clean but a deep clean is needed every now and again. The cleanliness of the outside areas let the property down a little bit. The decking areas and the front yard could do with a clean up and the exterior of the property needed a spruce up. Having said all this we enjoyed our visit and would use the property again.

Many thanks for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you liked the property. We will pass you comments about the exterior of the property on to the owner. We do hope you had a lovely holiday and enjoyed all the area has to offer. Property Owner

Parking was easy enough for us but I think it would be very difficult in the height of summer. The only issue was the heating, when we arrived the house was lovely and warm but the heat didn't come on the next 2 evenings. We did contact the person on the information and he put the heating on asap.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are thrilled you had a lovely stay. The accommodation is over four floors with fantastic Sea views enjoyed from each level overlooking the fish market, marina, breakwater and across the bay to Torquay. As you enter this charming period property into the spacious sitting room you are drawn to the stunning sea views from the French doors which open up onto a decked balcony.

There is also a woodburning stove making this property ideal for breaks at any time of year. A staircase leads down to the large kitchen and dining room.

A fabulous social space to sit and dine after a day out exploring the nearby Berry Head Napoleonic Forts.

Bi-folding doors open up onto a large decked terrace, an ideal spot to sit and relax over a glass of wine taking in the exceptional views over this fishing port.

There is also a shower room with large walk in cubicle, wc and washbasin located on this level. The three bedrooms are located on the upper floors of the property.

The main bedroom features a double bed with French doors opening onto a Juliet balcony.

Bedroom Two has a double bed and the third bedroom is located on the top floor and has two single zip and link beds (can be made into a superking on request).

Please note that this bedroom is located up a narrow staircase and has limited head height due to the sloping ceilings and therefore might not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

All the bedrooms also have TVs.

There is also a family bathroom on the first floor with a bath, shower over, wc and wash hand basin. The harbour, shops and restaurants are all within a 5 minute walk from the property.

Enjoy a stroll around this wonderful fishing port and watch the trawlers heading out to sea for the days catch, explore the Golden Hind or take a walk along the South West Coast Path to St Marys Bay and Beach. Blue Buoy Cottage provides an ideal location for you and your family to relax and enjoy your holiday within the English Riviera.

BRIXHAM

Dartmouth 5 miles; Paignton 6 miles; Torquay 8 miles.

Brixham is a working fishing harbour located on the southern side of Torbay, the area known as The English Riviera, famed for its sunny mild climate all year round. The focal point of the harbour is a life size replica of The Golden Hind, Sir Francis Drake’s ship. The prettiest part of Brixham has small cottages in hilly narrow winding lanes leading to the harbour where all the activity is centred. Home to Britain’s largest fishing fleet which regularly lands their catch in the harbour, Brixham fish market sells to major restaurants in the UK. Brixham is the ideal destination for a traditional holiday with many family attractions around Torbay including two Blue Flag beaches, Paignton Zoo and many regattas and maritime events throughout the year. There are a host of safe cycle trails in the area, the South West Coastal Path and some of the best golf courses in the region. A good mix of relaxation or action, to suit all ages, where you are never far from the sea.
