Loved the apartment in great settings in beautiful Brixham.

Had a great holiday and will definitely return. The hosts live below and were on hand if we had any issues but never required as things went so smoothly

Perfect place to relax and unwind.

Yes the drive in to the property can be a bit 'difficult' , but you have to remember the roads here were not built for cars, let alone modern BIG cars. Yes the steps down to the harbour are many and seem many more on the way back up, but most properties here are on a hill. The accommodation itself was spotless with an added bonus of a cream tea being left for our arrival. The furnishings were comfortable as was the bed. The views from inside the open plan lounge and bedroom through the patio doors out across the harbour were lovely, but when you go and sit out on the patio area you will appreciate that the drive in was worth it ! As the first line in the review says, after a day out and about it really is the ideal place to sit back, relax and unwind. If down this way again we will certainly be looking at booking here again.

We stayed here a few years ago and it was everything we looked for in a lovely stay but sad to say this time when taking bedding off there was stains on the mattress pillows and quilt and if had known this on the first day I would not have slept in that bed.

I read the visitors books maybe they did not take the bedding off when they left as all the reviews was Good. The bed was really comfortable that why we booked again as I have a back condition but did not expect the bed to be in the condition it was I did take photos.

The advert for this property is spot on, it could do with a washing machine and a full size fridge freezer, as our stay was two weeks, although going shopping everyday was OK ( if you like steps) The owner was kind enough to leave gluten free scones on request for our arrival and was genuinely a very nice person.

The thing that sells this property over others we have stayed at in Brixham is the parking. Will definitely be going again, and can't recommend it highly enough.

Superbly located apartment with quick access to the harbour, shops/bars, however, there are a lot of steps too and from, this didn't cause us any issues, got the heart pumping!

Everything you need for a weeks stay, however no washing machine and only a small freezer compartment in the fridge if you look for these facilities when booking. It was easy to find and roomy parking, the roads are very narrow though so not ideal for wide vehicles. It was lovely to wake up to views of the harbour as both the bedroom & living area have french doors to a decking area with 2 loungers, a bistro table & chairs and wooden sofa and coffee table set to enjoy. The bed is very firm but comfortable and there are no black out curtains so you can see the harbour lights during the night but again not so much of an issue for us. It did get very hot at night so had to leave the door to living area open and the windows in the living area open rather than leaving the French doors ajar as no windows other than the doors in the bedroom. The only storage for clothes is a single wardrobe and the 2 slim bedside drawer sets, we took extra coat hangers with us but there are some in the wardrobe and we just doubled up on the coat hangers. We will definitely be staying again, thoroughly enjoyed it and everything we needed for our week away and the owners are lovely and have a lovely harbourside shop called Sandy Toes which is worth a visit!

Absolutely lovely apartment, spotlessly clean and well thought out .

Great view from the balcony of the harbour and lovely and quiet. Road leading up is tight especially if you meet oncoming vehicles but definitely didn't spoil anything with the stay. The steps down to the harbour are steep coming back up , nothing the owners can do so not a complaint just a comment as someone with reduced mobility might struggle absolutely lovely stay and would definitely book again if coming back to the area. Some lovely eatery's too in the harbour and ideally located to travel to other places .

Could do with new crockery and pots and pans and some where to put your underwear.

The shower has not got a enough power in it.

The property was lovely, clean, fresh, and comfortable. Fabulous view of the harbour, close access to town, parking on site. Friendly and helpful owner. Would not hesitate to recommend this property, and we will visit again. We loved it.

We have visited Brixham many times and chose this property because of the parking space.

We have walked past the property on many occasions but didn’t appreciate how difficult manoeuvring a large car would be in the surrounding streets. Having followed the directions we were dismayed to discover that you can’t turn left into Mount Pleasant Rd as instructed! 20 minutes later we had found a potential route only to be met with so many parked cars to negotiate that we scratched our wing mirror on a wall! We found approaching from Great Rea Rd, left onto Elkins Hill then reversing into North View Rd and the parking space was the least stressful way to the property. Because of its elevated position the flat has very nice views of the harbour and trawlers from both the lounge and bedroom and we felt relaxed with our small dog. When we arrived a window and a patio door were open causing the flat to be extremely chilly, unfortunately it was the first time we have stayed in a property that doesn’t have a folder showing how to use the heating, appliances, etc so we had to figure it out ourselves however once on it did heat up quite quickly. Although there were several air fresheners around they didn’t disguise an odour that remained even after we febreezed the property. We had to contact the owner to find out that the wifi code was in the front of the guest review book. The pillows felt solid and were hard to sleep on and although I found the bed comfortable my husband felt the mattress was uncomfortable and struggled to sleep! There wasn’t any handwash provided and struggled to know where to put rubbish and recycling. We did enjoy our stay and I’m sure the outside sitting area (which is currently extremely slippy) would be lovely in better weather to absorb the views.

Our second stay in this cosy but modern and well equipped property.

The views are incredible even when the weather turns. The owners are nearby so any issues (we had none) can be sorted quickly. Would definitely stay again.

We had a lovely holiday staying at Harbour View Retreat, the accommodation was great the views from the living room and terrace was amazing.

Beautiful views, great accommodation.

Only problem was it was not in the description of the many steps you have to climb down to the harbor, there were 85 steps in total. Nothing was said if you have a mobility issue. Apart from that everything was fine.

Had a wonderful time! A few things to be mindful of 1. To get to the town there are steep steps at least 100 down and 100 back, I felt this should be mentioned in the description as I’m disabled , so not suitable for someone with mobility issues. 2. It may be a good idea to have a welcome book in the property to mention where the rubbish goes, WIFI, nearest shop, pub etc and places of interest 3. The sofa in the lounge is very uncomfortable and very low. I know dogs are allowed however we keep ours off the furniture! 4. The roads leading up to the cottage are very steep and not wide so beware of the cars coming from the other direction! Brixham is a wonderful place and the owners of the cottage are lovely people, as said we had a wonderful time, the cottage has all the things you would need and the views are amazing!

This accommodation well equipped and clean.

Lovely place to stay, beautiful scenery, but to have that, be prepared for the acess roads, more like a back lane , it tests your driving skills. But saying that i would definitely return. A very enjoyable holiday.

We loved this cottage.

It was clean and comfortable and the patio area was amazing, well furnished. Lovely weather meant we had plenty of use of it in the evenings. My only criticism is that in previous holiday accommodations the owner has left an information sheet with emergency contacts , doctors, pharmacy and local vets. We had no idea of the recycling methods as we’re not used to having no recycle wheelie bins. Also no instructions as to how we were expected to leave the beds, ie do we strip them and put them somewhere like a plastic bag or plastic box. Since Covid all properties expect stripped beds and all linen towels etc are to be put in bags provided. These are little things The cottage was fab and the scones, jam and clotted cream were a lovely touch, thank you. Fab holiday as usual, we love Brixham and this was our 4 th year here

Directions given by owner slightly out as can't turn left off Bolton street coming from the town into mount pleasant road.

Once property found we were met with a charming property overlooking the harbour. Bed was extremely comfy . Possibly a small dust pan and brush for help with cleaning. Struggled to find wifi password but soon sorted when I text the owners. Would possibly cover the outside furniture to keep it clean from the seagulls. We would definitely stay here again as we had a lovely stay in a very quiet location.

What a really nice place , everything is in good condition , parking excellent but don’t follow sat nav , look for mount pleasant road and go up there , sat nav takes you down some really narrow roads .

We loved our stay in Brixham as this house is located 5 minutes walk to centre , excellent view of the harbour , the picture you see on website is exactly what you see for real ,had fantastic stay and didn’t want to go home loved it

It’s for a family holiday not for elder persons, to many hills and steps There was not enough cutlery and crockery if you wanted to use the dishwasher, and I’d advise to take dishwasher tablets with you.

Id recommend for families only or young coulples

Centrally located property, the parking space being a real bonus, as on street parking is very limited.

The apartment was comfortable and clean, with everything we needed for a week's stay. Really lovely decked terrace with sofa, table & chairs and sunloungers which had a great view of the harbour where you can sit and watch the fishing boats coming and going.

Beautiful apartment with amazing views over the harbour, clean & compact, steps to Harbour are literally on your doorstep, Prince William, Blue Anchor & Old Market House good for food & Drinks, Curious Kitchen is good for coffee & lunch albeit is a pricier than most coffee shops, even saw seals from the balcony of the Rockfish, Berry Head hosts the Guardhouse a cafe with stunning view while you enjoy a cake, breakfast or even lunch, St Mary’s Bay beach is worth a visit too, if you fancy a swim but don’t like the sea, take a dip in the Shoalstone Seawater Pool

Great location, fantastic views of the harbour from the veranda/patio with the added bonus of a parking space. Yes streets can be a little tight but even driving an SUV, I found it ok if you take it steady. Advice from Sian the owner about reversing out, spot on, thank you. Apartment comfortable with everything you need. Just a couple of suggestions. Black out blind in bedroom would be good, and a few dishwasher tablets or washing up liquid would have been nice. Will definitely use again the next time we stay in Brixham

We loved this holiday let, tastefully furnished, comfortable and had everything we needed needed.

The views from the terrace looking over the harbour and from both the lounge and bedroom were lovely to wake up to each morning. Location was perfect as just a short walk from the harbour/town, though down a steep slope or steps was literally 3 to 4 minutes walk if that. Parking space was a plus, as the holiday let is on a narrow road and spaces are a premium. Overall was the perfect place to stay and would happily stay again.

Thought the cottage was nice, bed really comfortable, facilities were good ,needed a bit more of a clean radiator dirty and shower wasn't very clean ,also the outside needed a bit of attention ,but having parking was a big bonuses ,lovely view , fist impression wasn't good on approach to cottage but nice and cozey inside ,owner was very helpful ,lovely relaxing stay

Loverly cottage, friendly hosts, had everything you need for a weeks stay.

Lovely touch with scones, jam & milk on arrival. Unfortunately cleaning issues let it down a bit for us. Shower wouldn’t empty due to build up of waste in shower trap, had not been cleaned for a long time, so had to clean to use it & did raise with owners . Also shower door needed a better clean as did cooker & settee had stain marks on, looks like dog paw marks, so used covers we had luckily brought. But disappointed had been left like that. Outside small decking area also disappointing, as decking was slimy & green, so when raining, brought muck into the room & just looked unloved. Could have done with a Mat at the patio door to wipe feet, especially with dogs. When the sun was out didn’t really want to sit out there, even tho the views were great. Just a quick clean would have made all the difference to the experience. Also need's pillows replacing as lumpy, didn’t sleep well first night, so had to buy two to use while there. But other than cleaning issues & pillows accommodation was really nice, bright & modern. Getting down to town is very challenging with very very steep steps & hills, & getting too & from accommodation via car was very challenging with tight lanes & hills, but grateful of parking & views are amazing. Wouldn’t say it is really dog friendly tho, as not a spec of grass in sight anywhere. We struggled with our dogs, especially as one a little older. Pulling a pram up & down steep steps & hills was no fun. But Brixham is a lovely place for sure & if these small issues were sorted, would be amazing value for money.

This cottage was excellent.

I needed rest and relaxation and got that in spades as well as in comfort. I fell in love with Brixham and would love to go back but perhaps with a smaller car - to negotiate those narrow lanes

A beautiful place to stay and a fantastic location!

Very clean with simple tasteful furnishings and decor. Parking space and terrace with a view an amazing plus too! Could be slightly improved by a few very small things such as clearing up rubbish outside (caused by wind & pesky gulls we assume), storing of mops etc out of view, a 2nd hand towel in the bathroom and topping up of cutlery & crockery, including some fizz glasses

Second time we have stayed here but unfortunately we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the apartment.

The shower cubicle was very dirty and all the skirting boards were very dusty. There was no hand wash in either the bathroom or the kitchen so we had to buy some and we only had one hand towel between us for the week.

Narrow roads which thankfully lead to a designated parking space. Fabulous views of the harbour easy to walk to in a very short time. Thankyou for the scones, jam and clotted cream, it was a lovely surprise. The only reason I rated some areas low was because we thought a deep clean of the property was due. The owners were informed and responded positively.

The views from living room and bedroom are amazing . Having a car parking space was a great bonus too. Not far from the harbour front . It is a very steep climb from the town and lots of steps but totally worth it . I would highly recommend this accommodation to family and friends.

We loved our stay at Harbour View Retreat!

Great location especially for evening walks, super comfortable bed and was clean and warm with all the facilities we needed. The parking space that comes with the property was very useful. There is lots to do in the area especially visiting Greenway, Torquay, Babbacombe Miniature Village, Paignton Zoo and a short train ride to Exeter if you like shopping. We would highly recommend The Curious Kitchen and Bakery for a yummy breakfast, cakes and pastries.

Lovely holiday apartment in Brixham, situated above the harbour with beautiful views.

The apartment is very comfortable enough room for 2 people and 2 dogs. Walking distance of the harbour, shops and pubs....we didn't need to use our car once we had arrived. Be aware the roads are very narrow leading to the apartment, obviously not a reflection on the owners of the property but had a couple of hairy moments arriving and leaving the apartment! Hence when we arrived we walked everywhere! The milk and cream scones were a nice welcome gift. Would definitely return!

From the moment we stepped in the room, we were blown away with the place, everything we needed, and with the bonus of the balcony overlooking the stunning Brixham Harbour, we will be back in Brixham in the future, and when we are, we will certainly look to book here again

The weather wasn't kind. The apartment was great. Off road parking was a big help as the roads surrounding are really narrow and tricky to navigate. The other thing is seagulls tend to get at the rubbish and scatter it around, but the owner promptly cleared it up for us.This location would probably not suit someone with a physical disability as there are a lot of steep steps up and down to the harbour. Just a small note would have loved a washing machine instead of a dishwasher. We would definitely return.

Internally first rate, externally needs a lot of work - not very welcoming, safety issues with the fencing around the parking area, generally messy .

I had a lovely week at this property.

I found it clean and comfortable and it was an ideal base from which to go off exploring during the day and then returning to and relaxing. The view is beautiful and the cream tea that was waiting for me was an appreciated treat . I would love to return again sometime soon.

This is a stunning property with magnificent views over the harbour.

It was very well equipped and clean and provided a very cosy bolthole in January. The patio is fabulous, and is fully equipped with chairs, tables, lounger, sofa for warmer days.Being just the two of us with the dog, we really enjoyed the facilities and the proximity of Brixham to so many other great places. We had a real feeling of coming home each day which really shows how the property has been thoughtfully designed. The hosts were extremely welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable in this great place. The parking area was a welcome bonus and made life so much easier. We'd definitely return.

The listing needs updating to include the dishwasher (a bonus!) & more up to date directions are needed as the left turn indicated is no longer a left turn! The only other thing that I noticed (& I accept that I'm picky!) was that the shower head, controls & door could do with a deep clean.

The place was spotlessly clean upon arrival. We found it to be very well equipped and comfortable. The view of Brixham harbour from the outdoor terrace is amazing. A great base for exploring the Torbay area. We will definitely stay there again.

Arrived 20th August 2022, amazing cottage and position over looking Brixham Harbour and sea and off road parking.

lovely cottage , we were welcomed by a lovely cream tea and the owner who was very pleasant and kindly told us if we needed anything to contact them as they only lived next door. The cottage was lovely and cosy , very clean and had everything we needed, the patio was fantastic with furniture and again looking over Brixham Harbour, sitting there with a glass of wine was lovely. There are steps going down into the Harbour , which takes about 3 to 5 minutes, or you can walk the longer route which takes about 20 minutes. The cottage was well placed, we left our car there all week as we used the ferry to Torquay and the local bus service to Paignton, also there are lots of walks with our little dog Ruby. You could never be disappointed staying at Harbour view , 100% lovely. We are planning to stay there again in the near future. Neville.

It really does have an outstanding view and we spent a lot of time on the terrace keeping ourselves and our dog cool ( it was a particularly hot week !). The apartment was beautifully appointed, clean and modern. We had everything we needed to hand and getting to the shops/harbour took only a few minutes. We would certainly recommend choosing Harbour View and would like to thank the owners for making us feel welcome.

Harbour retreat was a lovely modern clean well equipped apartment . Had parking space which I car never left as brixham is great working coastal town so buses water ferries and taxi to get around . We loved our stay in this apartment the terrace has amazing views . The owners were on hand if u needed them but never bothered us . This apartment feels like you are detached like a penthouse bungalow loved it

This is a super little cottage with an amazing view over the harbour.

It was very well equipped with everything we needed and was very comfortable. It was great to have a cottage with a coat and shoe rack and a mirror near a socket for once! The off road parking space was a godsend and although we still found the roads around the cottage somewhat challenging it wouldn’t put us off staying here again.

For two people with a dog I can't imagine a better place to spend a holiday in Brixham.

The Retreat is so welcoming and cosy and the view is just wonderful. The owners are really friendly and helpful and the parking space is a real bonus. Excellent!

The whole experience of staying at Harbour View Retreat was excellent.

The accomodation and its facilities, for a couple more than sufficient for our stay which is then "topped off" by the wonderful view over looking Brixham harbour. Althought this was our first visit our reception from Sian and Dean was warm and very much hospitable allowing us to settle into our stay very easily. So much so that within 24 hours of our arrival we had booked for a week in 2022 which can't come soon enough.

An absolutely delightful apartment - very well located for easy access to Brixham harbour, shops, restaurants, bus travel and surrounding amenities.

We felt really welcomed and were given the reasurance that we could contact the owners if we needed anything. The veranda overlooking the harbour was a lovely facility. Being able to sit watching the harbour lights with a drink in the evening was a really relaxing way of ending each day.

What views spent most evening sitting out watching the sun go down and all the lights come on in the Harbour. Brixham is a lovely town and we loved our first visit here. Would highly recommend Harbour View Retreat as a base. We will come back.

Harbour View Retreat really did exceed our expectations.

We found the view from the large terrace to be exceptional. The layout and appointments were everything we needed. We found the bed extremely comfortable which also had views to the harbour and we couldn’t ask for more. The host were very friendly and welcoming and gave lots of information on local restaurants and attractions.

If you want a quiet holiday, where you can park up your car in a safe large parking space and put the car key away for the week, this is for you.

You will have shops, restaurants and pubs all within a half mile walk (800 meters) three beaches with in one and a half to two mile walk (2.4 kilometres to 3.2 kilometres), The best beach I found and stuck to was St Mary’s Bay only one and a quarter miles away (2 kilometres) I will attempt to attach a photograph of this beach. You will need to be able to tackle steep steps to walk to any location from the apartment. Only a few small things that could have been better, the towels were musty smelling so we used our own. The bed was a small double so if your six foot tall or over your feet will Protrude from the bottom of the bed. No DVD or CD player as stated in the write up due to the TV being changed, so don’t bring your own DVD’s to watch on a rainy day, but if you have a Netflix account your be able to sign in on the new TV.

Apartment was lovely but we had issues in the area with all the steps down to the harbour even though we were only one street above.

There was outside lounging furniture but us older generation it was to low to sit on would have preferred garden chairs or a table and chairs on the balcony. Sain the owner was lovely and so helpful. The area was beautiful and the views from the apartment was wonderful .Quint shops in the village and lots of eating out venues.The sea was so clear .The coastal path was nice to walk giving wonderful views and when reaching one area there is a cafe serving refreshments or you you could take a picnic and sit in the grass area.Lots if children was crab fishing off the harbour walls.

The apartment was very clean and tidy and had a brilliant view of Brixham Harbour, the parking space was a bonus as the lanes are very narrow leading to the apartment.

For me the biggest surprise was the bed,it was so comfortable that I had trouble getting up in the morning .

The holiday apartment was lovely with far reaching views across the harbour in all rooms.

The scones were a nice welcome and our doberdoodle, Rusty, appreciated the welcome treat! Location is central, less than 5 minutes' walk to the town centre and the harbour. We recommend The Rising Sun and The Manor Inn for drinks, as well as the excellent chippies on the harbour. The roads leading to the cottage were very narrow (as stated in directions) but parking space is provided and was more than adequate for our medium-sized car. Thanks to Sian and Dean for being such gracious hosts.

Lovely new studio apartment a stones throw from Brixham Harbour.

We had a relaxed, refreshing break over the new year after a hectic Christmas. The local streets are narrow, so a little difficult to navigate, there is private parking at the apartment, which is convenient. The apartment is comfortable and has everything we needed. The Wi-Fi signal is strong and consistent. The owners were friendly and welcoming, showing us around the apartment when we arrived. Would definitely consider returning in warmer months to take advantage of the roof terrace which is accessible from the living area and the bedroom.

Just a few comments.

The property was difficult to find as it has no effective sign, as it has been damaged. Half of it is missing and what,s left is hanging up side down, definitely needs attention. I appreciate that the property was refurbished last year, but it remains very untidy and scruffy externally with a lot of clearing up to do to make it presentable. This of course had no bearing of our enjoying the break, as internally the property was finished to a high standard with good quality fittings throughout. In our view the kitchen could do with an increase in numbers of cutlery, glasses and plates as there are only four of each. tight for a couple yet alone inviting guests in. With the cutlery there is nothing between a teaspoon and a tablespoon, neither ideal for pudding or cereal, so would suggest some desert spoons. The parking space was a pleasant surprise, as it is completely of road and much roomier than anticipated. You can publish this feedback if you feel it appropriate.

Fantastic apartment, outstanding view, loved the quaint steps to the harbour

Brixham is a great base to explore south Devon, with masses of activities very close.

Our accomodation could not have been better and the owners were very friendly & helpful. Would have no problem staying with them again.

The recent accommodation upgrade to what is now a beautiful 1 bedroom apartment is absolutely fantastic. The ourtside terrace is a great addition and retains the fabulous views across the harbour. The friendliness of hosts is great and only goes to enhance the holiday. Will be back next year.

We have stayed at Harbour View Retreat before and just had to make another visit, I think that gives an idea of how much we liked the location.

The owners whom we met were absolutely all you could ask for, and I would have no hesitation in recommending this property as a wow place for two to relax.

Outside of property was a bit of a mess but inside was ok.

Bit like the TARDIS...so close your eyes until you get inside because the view from the front window over the harbour is beautiful. Hanging space for clothes very minimal but would have been better if the 2nd closet WHITH A RAIL IN (which stores the electric heater and fan) had hangers!! Other cupboard just full of junk? Brixham is lovely with lots of places to eat with friendly staff and locals we met were very nice. You must try the braised beef at The New Quay Inn. Omg. P.S . Take you own towels as the ones we were left had a strange smell (damp

A lovely apartment ,providing a great base to explore Brixham and the surrounding area.

Lots of steps down to the Harbour so perhaps not suitable for the less mobile - but for anyone else the steps are well worth it to sit in the apartment and enjoy a great view.

Absolutely awful.

A three star property booked through a different agency. Later the agency acknowledged that three stars was their lowest grading (not helpful). Access was difficult as the owner(?) gave us the incorrect code for the keysafe and needed to be contacted again. The finish to the kitchen was extremely rough and ready, there was absolutely no hanging or wardrobe space, odd bits of carpet had been thrown into the only cupboard that could have accommodated belongings and it appeared that the property had been insufficiently cleaned. We stayed for one night only and returned home the following day. Helpful Holidays which we have used previously would not have listed such a property.

Maybe need to stress to other people that the roads leading to the apartment are very narrow at times.

The retreat is a well located holiday letting.

Car parking space was very good. We did not use the car for the duration of our stay. There are bus,taxi and ferry links to other locations. The view from the window is very clear and gives a lovely view of Brixhamharbour, ever changing. The walk from the retreat down st Peters lane, to the harbour and town, is quite steep and only takes about 3 minutes Down and 6 minutes up. Would we stay again ,Yes..
