  • "The White House was just perfect for our stay in charming Brixham."

    It was light,airy,clean and had everything you could possibly need for a self catering break. I had no problem parking on Elkins Hill just behind the cottage. Once parked we never needed the car again because of the property being only a 5 minute walk down to the harbour. The views were quite stunning from the lounge,bedroom and garden. My little pooch was walked up to the end of North View Road where there is a grassed area and more beautiful views to take in. There are many steps down to the harbour but after a few days they become easier and as a 64 and 74 year old we managed them and seemed fitter after our break. This property is 5 star for location and we will be visiting again next year.

  • "Fantastic cottage with superb views of picturesque Brixham harbour."

    Internally very tastefully appointed and well maintained, with a very homely feel. Any regular visitors to the area will know parking can be scarce by near the harbour and Brixham means lots of steps. However, parking up behind the cottage was not a problem - and the steps keep you in shape! Many good pubs, chippies and shops a short walk away. The host was great/contactable - before during and after the stay. Will definitely stay here again (that's having stayed in many Brixham holiday homes over 18 years)

  • "The location of this property is excellent less than 5mins from the quay and town centre, views are stunning from the property."

    The garden although very steep is a great spot for eating and drinking our 7 and 10yr olds were ok with the steep steps but I wouldn't have been comfortable had they been any younger. The master bedroom looking out over the harbour is fantastic although the bed wasn't the most comfortable. Parking as ok, always managed to find a place to park within 2mins walk of the rear gate, although the roads in Brixham are very very narrow and it's a tight squeeze in some places.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at The White House in Brixham."

    The views were incredible at any time of the day. The cottage decor was light, airy and very welcoming. The owners were very friendly and accommodating and had kindly provided very useful information with regards to the cottage and things to do in Brixham.     Cottage was lovely and most things provided. Lots of steep steps to and from the town, parking behind was better than trying in front of the cottage, would stat here again.

  • "A lovely cottage with an elevated view of Brixham Harbour and views across Torbay."

    Very handy for the shops, cafes, restaurants etc (provided one doesn't mind all the steps!). The cottage was very nicely decorated, cosy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable week's stay. The owners had obviously put a lot of thought and care into it. It was a lovely base from which to journey out and visit places in the area. Added bonus was the fact that it is dog friendly. Highly recommended.

  • "We stayed at The White House on the 8th April for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time there."

    Firstly it was spotless! I am so fussy regarding the cleanliness of properties we stay in and I was so happy to find it so clean and fresh. That makes a huge difference to how I feel when I am away. The little sweet touches everywhere in the property didn't go unnoticed. We all loved the top sunny terrace and would sit up there late afternoon playing cards and scrabble (available at the house to use) watching the boats. We would definitely stay here again. A negative for some might be, the very steep steps at the back leading up to the terrace. Not suitable for young families or adults with dodgy knees! Good work out for us though, we were puffed each day when we got to the top. Loved the beautiful views too.

The property

Proudly situated above Brixham Harbour, The White House is a charming fisherman’s cottage that offers sweeping panoramic sea views across the bay, and provides an unbeatable location for a pet-friendly seaside holiday.

The property sleeps four guests and is a short stroll away from Brixham’s picturesque harbour, boutique shops, fantastic galleries and numerous restaurants and bars.

The bright open plan lounge and dining area offers wonderful views over the harbour, perfect for relaxing and eating whilst admiring the scenery, or snuggling up on chillier nights to watch the lights of the town twinkling outside.

Upstairs is a family bathroom with a shower over the full-size bath, a wash basin, and a WC.

Two bedrooms lead off the hallway: a twin room with an original fireplace and the master king-size room, again featuring an original fireplace and offering more stunning views of the vibrant fishing port. The well-equipped kitchen is downstairs at the rear of the cottage, and provides access via the courtyard to an impressive terraced garden.

Steep steps lead to different levels where guests can enjoy breakfast whilst watching the harbour come to life, or relax with a glass of wine whilst watching the sun set in the evening.

Do make sure to listen for the fabulous bells of All Saints Church, which play Abide By Me every evening, and echo beautifully around the town.

The garden gate at the top of the garden leads on to a convenient road, where parking is unrestricted, and a medium sized Co-Op is a five minutes walk away.

Brixham has an abundance of attractions to offer: beautiful coves and beaches, such as Fishcombe Cove or Breakwater Beach; swimming in the Art Deco seawater Shoalstone Pool; crabbing in the harbour; and a life-size replica of Sir Francis Drake's ship: The Golden Hind. Why not adventure on foot (or five minutes drive) to the unbeatable Berry Head Nature Reserve, where early birds can watch the sunrise over the sea, spot dolphins, and indulge in a tasty breakfast at the highly rated Guardhouse Cafe.

Guests are spoiled for choice with the town’s culinary offerings: from fresh off the boat seafood and award-winning fish and chips to international cuisines ranging from Mediterranean to Thai food.

For adventures further afield: catch the ferry across to famous Torquay or around the bay to Dartmouth; ride in style on the steam train from nearby Paignton; take the family to Goodrington’s popular water park, or visit local National Trust properties Coleton Fishacre and Greenway (Agatha Christie’s former home).

Brixham is a working fishing harbour located on the southern side of Torbay, the area known as The English Riviera, famed for its sunny mild climate all year round. The focal point of the harbour is a life size replica of The Golden Hind, Sir Francis Drake’s ship. The prettiest part of Brixham has small cottages in hilly narrow winding lanes leading to the harbour where all the activity is centred. Home to Britain’s largest fishing fleet which regularly lands their catch in the harbour, Brixham fish market sells to major restaurants in the UK. Brixham is the ideal destination for a traditional holiday with many family attractions around Torbay including two Blue Flag beaches, Paignton Zoo and many regattas and maritime events throughout the year. There are a host of safe cycle trails in the area, the South West Coastal Path and some of the best golf courses in the region. A good mix of relaxation or action, to suit all ages, where you are never far from the sea.It is approximately 5 miles east of the historic ocean city of Plymouth which offers extensive cultural and recreational facilities including theatres, new shopping centre, historic Barbican area, numerous bars and eating places including the River Cottage Canteen at Royal William Yard.
The twin villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo are a short distance away at the mouth of the River Yealm, noted for its beauty and fabulous sailing, popular for both cruising and racing. Close to the village is the National Trust beach of Wembury, renowned for rock pooling and watersports.
