Hedgehogs

Just had 4 days here from 8th August 2026, and I really enjoyed my stay.

It's a semi-detached house on a housing estate. First impressions weren't great as there was food cartons etc all over the drive from the overflowing wheelie bins with bags stacked next to bins also which the birds had been at. Once I'd picked all that up and went inside I thought the inside was lovely, very clean and tidy with everything you could need for a short break. There was even some complimentary cookies and crisps left for me which I appreciated. Its pet friendly and there's a football pitch area for walking your dog just a couple of minutes away which was handy, also an enclosed garden which could probably do with a bit weeding and having the tree cut back a bit so you get near the table and chairs. It was only a few minutes drive from the town centre so it was perfect for me. The only other recommendations would be the grouting and sealant around the bath and shower needs replaced as it doesn't look great and the windows looked like the hadnt been cleaned in a while but overall this didn't effect my stay and would recommend it for a getaway in Barnstaple.

The absolute bonus about this property was the pretty courtyard garden, particularly as this was an extremely hot week.

I had brought my sun lounger with me and was able to lie in full sun or complete shade at any time of day. The kitchen was well equipped (except no dishwasher) and because I was on my own I was able to prepare all my meals. The only slight negatives were the main bedroom had heavier winter bedding (brushed cotton bed covers) which would have been far too hot this week so I used the smaller of the 2 rooms which had lighter weight bedding. The washing machine needs to be cleaned, it was mouldy and consequently left laundry smelling unpleasant which included the laundered towels provided. Whilst there was a food waste caddy provided there was no other recycling options available so I ended up taking all of mine home. There is plenty of room at the head of the driveway to provide these. All in all I had a great stay.

A very clean and pleasant place the location is very good if you have bus passes great just park up and use them bus's run everywhere for you including supermarket I found the furniture to low struggled to get up but purciviered this is a well maintained property and well worth a try

Absolutely perfect.

Great house, clean & tidy and with very good equipment for cooking and keeping house tidy during our stay. The beds are very comfortable and although on a development it is very peaceful. Perfect location for us with the number 19 bus stopping virtually outside the door which goes into town about every 20 mins. Some great walks from the property which was brilliant for the dogs and supermarkets within an easy walk. The enclosed rear garden is ideal for dogs and I’m sure during the summer, a little suntrap. Really cannot fault this property although it would have been nice if it had a smart tv but that wasn’t an issue. We would absolutely recommend this property and it definitely deserves the 5 stars

Warm and comfy, in a good place to discover north Devon, handy for shops and takeaways.

Disappointed that there was no visitors book or instructions for cooker operation or heating, stains on lounge carpet, it could do with a good wet valeting. TV lost signal and froze a few times. All told we had a good week there.

We found Hedgehogs to be very well equipped, lovely calm and welcoming decor and very comfortable.

The enclosed garden was a real bonus for the dog. Close to shops and on a local bus route, also easy to access main roads for trips out. Would recommend Instow for dog walking. A "house book" giving details of bin days, recycling, etc would be a handy addition.

We chose this property as it was close to friends we were visiting.

We did not use the kitchen only for breakfast but we found it was well equipped and would have been able to cook meals had we wanted to. We found the bed very comfortable but my only constructive criticism would be to have bigger towels as the current ones were quite small.

Not obvious from the listing that the property is not really in Barnstaple itself.

It s in Roundswell Village, about 1.5 miles out of town. However, there is a bus service that runs half hourly 9-5 and then hourly after that with a bus stop almost on the doorstep. The house itself is comfortable and a great base for seeing North Devon. We used the bus network all week and saw Braunton, Westward Ho!, Appledore, Instow, Bideford, Ilfracombe, Lynton & Lynmouth all without moving the car off the drive, There is an enclosed garden with a table and chairs should the weather be favourable and a smart TV if not
