The village of Buckland Monachorum is an attractive village near Yelverton, on the western edge of Dartmoor, famous for its association with Sir Francis Drake, who lived at Buckland Abbey just outside the town.
It is also home to an award-winning country inn, Drake Manor Inn, serving tasty pub fare, and a medieval Church for those keen on history.
Walkers will enjoy the ability to walk straight onto the moors from the property, where birdwatching and breathtaking scenery can be enjoyed.

The property looked and was well furnished, everything we needed was there.
However the TV was too complicated for us, we are used to terrestrial channels and Sky TV. I think the TV in the property was Internet based, we struggled to find our away to and around the channels. The heating was controlled by the owner from their house, so the literature said! The property was always cold in the morning and evening, we were out durring the day, I assume it was set for summer levels, not late September. There was an override stat. on the wall, once I'd figured out how to use it, I could only get it to boost for 30 to 60 minutes, the house soon warmed up, then soon cooled down, I was up and down all evening long, not what I call an evenings rest. Because of no heating the towels never dried, after the first shower the first day, the towels remained wet all stay and long after our stay duration, (have you ever tried drying on a damp towel for 4 days). There was 1 oil filled electric radiator, trouble is which room should we put it in kitchen? lounge or bedroom? should we hang the towels on it, that would provide a lovely damp smell in the room
We had a great week .
Glebe cottage was just right,comfy and peaceful in a pretty village.So handy to walk to the pub for a meal on arrival.Very convenient for Plymouth and Tavistock,plus many places to visit .
Excellent village location with friendly local pub serving great meals.
Cottage is well equipped and very comfortable with everything required for a holiday.
