  • "First impressions the cottage is small, clean and well thought out."

We settled in great and everything was fine until, I began to notice water around the toilet. Frist I thought the water was coming from the shower but as it began to rain more the water got more, there was like a bucket of water in the bathroom, water behind the bed and side of the wall where u would park. Also on my last night I when to pack the dishes away and the cupboard door felt off and almost took my eyes out. I tried to look for a number or email to make a report there was none. When u rent these room you get no support from staff very bad experience over all.

Dear Mr Osborn, We are so sorry to hear that you had problems. Firstly I would like to point out that our contact number is on the the first page of the welcome book next to the WIFI code, so I`m not sure how you missed it? I will make sure it`s clearer for future guests. We also live on site. Regarding the water in the bathroom and around the edge of the walls. This cabin is a new build and has been built "passive" meaning it is pretty much airtight and energy efficient. When I went to clean after you left I noticed that the heating was on 25c and no windows open at all. It was unbearable in there. The outside temperature was 13c so not freezing. We have had the builder out to have a look, and he has 100% confirmed that there are no leaks what so ever and this was a condensation problem due to lack of airflow and excessive room temperature, and possibly not using the extractor fan whilst cooking. This is a studio cabin. However in response to this situation happening again we are having air vents fitted this week. I can only apologise about the cupboard door, as I stated this is new build with all new fittings including the kitchen, the door seemed fine when I was cleaning before your arrival, but I understand these things can happen. It has now been fixed. Property Owner

  • "Fern was well located for our purposes; visiting friends and visiting Barnstaple, Ilfracombe, Clovelly, Lynmouth & Lynton, Appledore, Bideford and Bude."

With the weather in November being mostly wet and windy it was lovely to return to a warm and cosy studio which had all the amenities to be self-sufficient. It was also good value for money.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and found the cabin warm and cozy. We are also happy to hear that you went exploring all the lovely costal villages near by. Gilly and Tony Property Owner

  • "We found the cottage hard to locate and believe a further sign under Whitesacks ie leading to Fern and Jasmine Cottage would have been useful."

The TV was not a good enough reception to use. Although it has a working kitchen there are no tables or trays to eat from. We were booked in for 9 days and during that time only 1 bath towel and hand towel were available to us. Also a wall clock would be nice.

Thank you for feed back. We are having new signs put up very shortly as we appreciate that we can be quite hard to find. We do have smart TV`s with indoor aerials but have now realised that certain terrestrial channels are not obtainable. We will be having external aerials fitted next week. We have also taken onboard about providing a small table and chairs to eat at and a wall clock. I can only apologise about the towels, I always provide 2 sets of towels for long staying guests, but must have forgotten on this occasion. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week In beautiful and peaceful surroundings."

It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and the welcome pack of milk, butter, eggs, essentials and treats was thoughtful and much appreciated after a long journey. Looking forward to returning in the Spring.

  • "This was just what I wanted."

A lovely bolthole to get some writing done. It was peaceful and very beautifully appointed. Fabulous welcome basket of scones, crisps, bread, eggs, and milk! Only thing missing is a wee table to eat at. Also Sykes instructions were incorrect sending you to a different set of Bydown cottages. This needs o be sorted with Sykes and perhaps with additional signage at the property.

Thank you so much for your feed back. After chatting to you , we have now spoken to Sykes and hopefully corrected the directions to our property. We really appreciate you informing us about this error. We are also in the process of having new larger signs made at the entrance. Many Thanks Gilly and Tony Property Owner
