Bridges Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at Bridge’s Cottage.

The cottage itself was comfortable, and although it is a one bedroom small cottage the way it is set out and furnished doesn’t make it feel small. There was plenty of room for the 2 of us and our 2 dogs, who appreciated the blankets and the biscuits! Bridge’a Cottage is in a fantastic location tucked away just off the main pedestrian shopping street which has some great shops to help making self catering easy such as the local butchers and deli, fishmongers and bakers. The 2 local pubs were very friendly and welcoming too. Back to the cottage, the 2 living areas both had TVs and seating areas so there was a choice of where to chill out and the small patio area had the sun all day which was nice. The bed was really comfy too. The facilities in the cottage were good with everything you needed for cooking, eating and relaxing as well as washing and ironing. We could not fault it at all and will definitely vroom again when we next visit Devon. The area was great , just a short 5-10 minutes walk from Babbacombe Downs with plenty of bars and eateries as well as stunning sea views. The parking was a god send and saved us over £50 if parking in the public car park opposite. Thank you Bridge’s Cottage for a fabulous week!

Compact cottage with a great layout.

Clean and fresh. Had everything I needed for a good stay. Bedroom gets warm so decent fan was much appreciated. Bathroom sink could do with a plunge to help drainage. Parking was handy, just bear in mind pigeons roost in tree above so bring a car cover if you want to protect it. Access on foot to Downs, Coast Path, coves and beaches, for the more mobile. Useful shops and an interesting pottery, church and parks/gardens in surrounding streets.

This cottage could be a little gem but what we discovered when we arrived changed our thoughts ,firstly on entering the passage way outside there was a strong smell of urine ,then entering the cottage no information sheet in folder,next day we were about to cook bacon for breakfast but when we opened cooker we changed our minds ,my thoughts are this cottage needs a deep clean through and a bit of TLC.

We felt really comfortable from the moment we walked in.

It was warm and tidy. I am not very strong so it would have been nice to have some smaller cooking saucepans and dishes. I expect we will be back as it is a really nice area.

Second time staying at bridges cottage, comfy cottage, nice and quiet, fantastic location, ideal for exploring all that Torquay has to offer.

If you like cake big bakes just down the precinct is a must!!

Warm comfortable cottage and well equipped apart from a lack of caffetiere.

Hotel style welcome box was a nice surprise. Good location for the shops/coffee shops, butcher, bakers and fishmongers along with a Co-op and a Sainsbury's. Lovely short walk to Babbacombe and a regular bus service to Torquay and Paignton. Greenway House about a 35 min drive. The description of the parking could be a little clearer e.g. on the grass under the tree (we were looking for a tarmac surface), but it was very handy. Also, when looking for the cottage, a turn right towards the church would be helpful. The shower was a little difficult only because we are not as agile as we used to be! We would recommend and re-visit purely for the location and the comfort.

We enjoyed our short stay at Bridges Cottage; it’s in a lovely area to explore.

There was some confusion regarding the parking, as two locations were listed on the website details. As dogs are not allowed upstairs, it would have been helpful if a stair‑gate had been fitted at the bottom of the stairs, rather than having to build a barricade. We were also disappointed with the available outdoor space, as the picture of the front door gave the impression of a patio area, rather than the small space with a table and chairs.

This was our third stay at Bridges Cottage , say no more!

Bridges cottage was a beautiful place to stay.

It's perfectly situated off the main high street, but still very private. Everything you need is on your doorstep and in a beautiful location. Clean tidy warm and comfortable. The only grumble was with the bed pillows they weren't as supportive as I personally would have liked. I'd happily stay again for a quiet relaxing break.

Always enjoy our time in Marychurch and Bridges is the perfect place for a couple and their dog.

Property was lovely & clean.

Nice welcome pack with treats for the dog. Amenities close by. Some building work going on locally from around 7.00 am until 8.00 pm that was noisy at times. Would not recommend the allocated parking spot if you are not a competent driver or have a tidy car. The entrance to the parking lot is very tight & sap plus lots of bird droppings from the tree above made a considerable mess on my car. Would probably pay to use the adjacent public car park if I stayed again.

Had a lovely stay, property was small with low ceilings, which was fine for us vertically challenged individuals but others may struggle.

Super character property with thick walls. Lovely touch to include some treats for the humans and the dogs. Fan upstairs was very much appreciated. The towels supplied could be a little larger as one was smaller than the other. Supplying kitchen roll, tea towels, hand soap washing up liquid were very much appreciated. Lovely area to walk and great place to be situated for a quiet stay. Parking is under a large tree, which did mean a fair amount of bird poop and the space is very narrow but I did appreciate the padding on the posts.

Small pretty cottage in the heart of St Marychurch.

It has everything you need for a weeks holiday. Great position for visiting all the Torbay area, we loved to walk to Babbacome downs in the evening for a drink overlooking the bay. Our only negative was the bed, which was far too soft for us. However that is a personal thing. Parking space is a bonus.

This beautiful cottage made our stay perfect.

After a full day of exploring we were ready for hot showers and comfort, both of which this cottage provided. We would book again without hesitation but our family wants to come with us next year. Would highly recommend this cottage!

We stayed at Bridges Cottage over the Easter weekend and had such a lovely experience.

As a thoughtful touch, we were each left an Easter egg and some milk, which made us feel very welcome. They also provided dog bowls and a jar of treats for our pup, which was much appreciated. The cottage truly felt like a home away from home—cozy, comfortable, and fully equipped with everything you might need. The location is fantastic, with everything you could possibly want just a short walk away. We would definitely recommend staying here!

The cottage is comfy and easy to find tucked away in a very good location off the high street in St Marychurch, well equipped for two people, unfortunately it was let down by a few maintenance and cleaning issues, the tap in the kitchen is very loose and a safety issue and there are several damp patches were the paint is flaking off, the property was quite dusty throughout with cobwebs in the kitchen and bathroom, behind the tub chairs there was a big clump of presumably dog hair and a small piece of Christmas wrapping paper!

! Dust and Paint flakes on the floor, the coffee in the canister was old and dried to the bottom along with out of date sauce sachets etc, there wasn't a tea towel or an oven glove, there is also building work been carried out on the roof of the property next door (happy apple) where the builders are playing loud music and singing by your bedroom window from 8:00am and the house in the corner is also being renovated, obviously some of these points are not the fault of the owners and apart from the building work (which didn't go on all day thankfully) it is lovely and quiet and with a little more attention to detail and better cleaning it would make an ideal holiday cottage

This was the second Christmas we have spent at Bridges Cottage and it's perfect for our needs (2 adults + dog) for the festive week.

We're originally from Torquay, so familiar with the lovely St Marychurch area, and use the property as a base when we return to spend time with family at Christmas. The property is perfect size for the three of us, lovely and cosy, but spacious enough so we're not on top on each other. It has a well equipped kitchen, powerful shower, and comfortable bed and sofa. It's off the pedestrianised high street, with lots of little shops and cafes on the doorstep, and a short walk from a Co-op and Sainsburys. The parking space is very useful as parking in the area can be tricky, and there's a number of suitable dog walking routes close by. Would highly recommend for a couple looking to stay in St Marychurch and explore the area.

A double bed wedged into an alcove - you had to crawl in and out from the bottom of the bed - even worse on window side - and there was nowhere to put a clock, book, hot drink and very poor light for reading.

Several of the downstairs lights were not working, making the breakfast area very dark and dreary. We couldn’t find any spare bulbs. Didn’t like the dreary opaque film on most of the windows - you couldn’t even gauge the weather. The heap of crumbs under the toaster was not good - found when trying to reach the power sockets behind it. We have stayed in Sykes accommodation many times, small and larger properties, they had always been brilliant. This one was the worst, the bed and lighting were especially difficult to cope with - we were so glad we were only staying 3 nights.

Nice little cottage in a nice area with very good independent shops and cafes nearby.

Very quiet at night which is good. My only gripe really is the allocated parking which was very welcome and saved a lot of money on car park fees. It is directly under a large sycamore tree and my car was absolutely covered in bird poo. Very unpleasant and annoying.

We had a lovely stay.

The cottage was the perfect base for exploring Devon. The only problem was the parking at the cottage. Be careful to park in the exact allotted space or you'll receive a fine!

Ideally located cottage just set back from a quaint precinct of independent shops and cafes.

The cottage was clean, well equipt with a comfortable bed and super quiet. Only a short walk to babbacome downs to the beach or evening coastal walk. We had a very pleasant stay, the only caution is that the parking space is between 2 poles, not a problem for our Vauxhall mokka, but anything bigger and you might be struggling.

Love visiting Bridges Cottage.

What a wonderful cottage.

We had a really great time. The cottage was far better than we could ever have imagined. The welcome package was a very nice touch especially the cream tea. Only one thing, the outside lighting did not seem to work and as a result my wife fell up the concrete step on our last night. But never the less ut is a brilliant cottage a d we will be back for more

Great to have a designated car parking space.

Slightly difficult to find but that was our fault as we couldn’t meet the owner. Cottage is slightly dark but lighting is good I just felt guilty at putting it on. Lovely modern property inside and contains everything you need. Great position just off the town centre but minutes walk from the sea. I would definitely recommend it and if back in the area would stay again.

We stayed at Bridges cottage for four weeks while we were starting to look for what would become our new home.

On the whole the experience was a good one in a very nice area of South Devon.

Very comfortable and quiet location. Lots of walks nearby. Close to local shops.

Thank you for a lovely weeks holiday with our 2 dogs, it was a great base to stay very central to visit all the surrounding areas which we enjoyed visiting, The cottage had all the home comforts and wasn’t short of anything, would definitely recommend and thank you for the very kind gesture of leaving welcome scones, clotted cream and jam, along with a doggy bag of biscuits for Tia and Jessie

Our stay at Bridges Cottage was quite nice.

The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard, and there is everything that you could possibly need for your stay. The cottage is very well equipped and in the perfect location, with many beautiful surrounding town and villages. If you want a peaceful break , then this is definitely the place to stay. It is very dog friendly, both in the cottage and the town. Although we loved the Cottage itself, there were 4 major negatives for us. Having problems with my right shoulder because of a previous fracture to my collarbone,I found it quite difficult to get in and out of the bed. This is because of how the bed is situated, right up against the wall and window, with no gap to walk down. Also the shower/ bath, which i should say is really nice and looks amazing. We both found it difficult to get in and out of. It is an unusual shape and quite a deep bath. The off road parking is in a very tight space and under quite a large tree. Our car was covered with sticky sap like drops all over the car, which took me 4 hours to clean off our car when we got home. The car park space is quite a distance from the cottage, so dropping the luggage to and fro was quite tiring. Although the cottage itself is an excellent place to stay, clean and comfortable. We felt that there are too many negative points for us to go there again. This is a shame because it was in the perfect location for us to visit the many beautiful places devon has to offer. We would like to thank the owner for the lovely cream tea which was left for us on our arrival.

Rather small would help having a fan to circulate the air .

Due to the shape and size of the property sleeping arrangment a little difficult still it was a change of scenery. Area first class overall enjoyed the week.

Really helps to make the holiday

So much more than we expected!

Such a beautiful, quirky little cottage where the owner has provided everything including oat milk & GF biscuits for our dietary requirements. The decoration throughout has been really well thought out & has been finished to a high spec. The finishing touches are perfect. They even provided a fleece to put over the settee (we had brought our own) for the dogs. The only thing I can think to improve this property would be a small corner shelf above the bed for my glasses to go on, and that's me being really picky & lazy! We will definitely be back

Short break in this cute little cottage in the centre of St Marychurch where everything is on the doorstep.

Lovely little town and very friendly. Perfect spot for walking the coast path. Babbacombe Downs a few minutes walk away, very pretty and fabulous sea views. Parking a short walk away which wasn’t a problem for us. Would visit again.

Excellent property.

Keith is a brilliant host and couldn’t do enough to accommodate us. The location is spot on within St Marychurch and has a real home from home feeling. Highly recommend it and will be returning shortly.

The location was ideal, plenty of shops nearby. Easy access to bus stops for heading into Torquay and other popular places nearby. Cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen as well as a handy washing machine in the utility room. Lovely snug room with sofa and tv.(slightly high on the wall for size of room) Lovely modern bathroom with plenty of room.Great quality towels provided. Bedroom was big enough and provided storage for all our clothes including hanging space. Lovely comfy bed. Nice fresh clean carpet in several areas. However we did both notice coming down the stairs that there were several carpet grippers poking through on the upright part of a few stairs which we did both catch our heals on unfortunately but it’s something that can easily be resolved.A cosy little outdoor area with bistro set overlooking bigger garden next door with friendly neighbours. Had to be very careful with one of the seats tho as the metal is quite rusty and has started to break up leaving a sharp edge. We managed using a cushion to sit on but just thought it best to mention. Lovely gesture providing us with milk,scones,jam and clotted cream on arrival, they were delicious and we’re now addicted to clotted cream even now we’re back home

Lovely cottage with all you could want, felt at home.

Very good base for exploring the area, we used buses that saved us finding places to park and money exclant bus sevice. At the cottage we had our own parking space left car there all week.

We had a lovely stay and it was comfortable and clean.

Lovely short break in this beautiful cottage, in the lovely little village of St Marychurch.

Lovely touch too from Keith, the owner, who provided cream teas and milk for us, on our arrival.

Looked very nice on arrival noticed the sofa was very grubby and stained the mattress with brown stains soiled before protector was put on and very uncomfortable on one side it dipped.

The bath was too small had issues trying to get in and out all in all not very happy with our stay I have also taken pictures of the bed etc

A cosy, cute cottage for two in a beautiful location.

Cream tea was a lovely touch. Well thought out interior. A couple of minor things e.g. only one wine glass, we bought a couple and left there, I felt TV’s placed a bit high on walls for my comfort, could just be that I’m short!! Owner, Keith, was very helpful with suggestions on places to visit but there is so much beauty around you, you’re spoilt for choice. I would highly recommend visit to Cockington country park and village.

Bed was to soft for us.

Water was slow to drain away in Bath room. Car park was overgrown needed cutting back our legs were covered in ant bites.but apart from that everything was very good ideal location. Owner was very good.

Lovely quirky cottage with charm, everything you need for a great stay, comfy bed, clean and great location for going to places in the area.

Great for our dog and loved the cream tea and milk left. Walking distance for the dog to Babbacombe Downs. Keith the owner is very helpful if you need him Coop shop etc very handy (short walk down the precinct ) Visited Dartmouth castle, Greenway (Agatha Christie house) Buckfast Abbey, Kent Cavens in Torquay the museum and the local beaches. We had a great week at Bridges Cottage.
