  • "Of all the places we have stayed at, this is the one we want to return to, A lovely apartment, Yes there is noise but it is commensurate with its location on a main road into Torquay."

The views of Torbay are spectacular. The one thing I would suggest is having a telephone number posted for the apartment management company in the event there are problems with the car park gates which had a brief tantrum during our stay

(should say not south facing. Very noisy from 5.30 am, dog barking every day, deliveries etc to restaurants below. 2nd bed bedroom was not a double bed, very uncomfortable. Plus points, lovely gesture wine, cake and milk Fabulous views

We stayed with you last year and find the apartment to be in a great location, our only disappointment was that perhaps, the crockery could have done with a refresh. We often self cater and found that the earthenware was scratched, although the pans etc were good quality. Thank you

  • "The apartment is in a great location, easy parking and a lovely view."

It was clean and tidy and we found it a relaxing stay. The only issue I had was the lack of manuals / information. There were no instructions for the cooker, microwave, Bosch coffee maker (well there were some but they don't say how to use it, I watched a video), sound bar, TV and peripherals, and heating timings. I managed to download most of the manuals but it's a bit of a pain and still not easy to read on a phone. There's also a "blue light" switch on the wall in the kitchen which Google Lens identified as a timer (like you have for lights in a corridor in a block of flats), I never did find out what that controlled. The heating timer seemed simple similar to mine at home, but it would only change the timing on the Monday, I couldn't find out how to change other days so probably had it on more than really required. Also there is no information on what is recycled. I had to go to the bin store to see how the bins are segregated (Glass is separate from plastic, tins & paper, with general rubbish also separate). There is no food waste collection. At home, our glass, paper, plastic and tins are one bin, Rubbish in a second, and food waste in a third bin, so different areas have different systems which would be useful to know on day one. There was a Dyson vacuum cleaner in the spare room which was full when I tried to use it before we left. I emptied the container but the vacuum just whirred a bit then stopped then whirred a bit more and stopped so I gave up. On the final check before leaving I found another vacuum in the second bedroom wardrobe, but it was too late to use that. There's also a hook missing in the bathroom and the covers to the shower controls are missing in the on suite though not a problem it doesnt look good. Also the dimmable lights in the main bedroom failed on the Thursday which I reported, not a problem and just one of those things. Despite all of the above, which we worked around, we had a really relaxing time and am considering a further visit next year, perhaps in the summer.

  • "Good afternoon, we booked apartment 18 Abbey Sands as we've had a very difficult time recently."

We booked it as we'd had a lovely stay last time and because of the secure parking. When we arrived another owner invited us into his apartment as we were early. We were shocked to see the cleaner empty an ashtray over the balcony, people were eating underneath! He then told us that we wouldn't be able to use the car park as maintenance would be taking place. The owner claimed not to know but the owner we met had sent him a copy of the notice so he definitely had been informed. Inside the apartment the cleanliness wasn't up to the previous standard. It was dusty and there were stains on the sofa as if someone had wet themselves. Then on Tuesday we awoke to extremely loud noises due to machinery being used to remove the surface of the car park. We came to Torquay to relax and not to deal with the problems we encountered. We have been given a partial refund but due to the horrendous experience we've had it should be a full refund. I have a copy of the notice of works and a photo of the stain if you require. Believe me this gives me no pleasure to send. Regards Susan

Fantastic view with nice comfortable size balcony and easy access to everything we wanted to do including some fantastic restaurants in the building.

  • "We had no hot water for 3 days, when you pay £2500+ for a weeks holiday you would expect better."

Sykes customer service was shocking. Didn't have a clue how to reach owner or a plumber to repair hot water problems. We had to come home early due to no hot water. I will be seeking compensation due to the fact no hot water, also leaving the property early due to no hot water.

  • "Although we had a problem with the heating, this was solved immediately by Sykes even though it was on a Sunday, which impressed us."

We loved the apartment and were impressed that it had everything we needed including a coffee machine and even a water filter! The property was clean and comfortable and the view across the bay was beautiful. Altogether a great relaxing break. We travelled by train and used buses to get around to nearby towns. Couldn't believe the no.12 runs every 10 minutes and passes right by the apartment.

It was exactly as advertised. We loved the decor, amenities and position of the apartment in relation to the beach and restaurants. I would certainly have no hesitation in using your site again. Sandra Parsonage AM Sydney Australia

  • "No instructions for all electrical units including cooker, hob, tv’s and wi fi."

Dishwasher not working. Code’s for the doors were fine but no code was given for the lift to and from the ground floor. The property is in an excellent position and is worthy of 5 stars, seems a shame that former reviewers are giving the same impression about the lack of information.

  • "We had a really great time in torquay."

The apartment was so clean and had all the facilities you could need. The welcome goodies were fabulous, the best we have had at any previous holidays!! However, I would have expected a double bed in the main en suite room as the beds joined together were not very comfortable with a large ridge in the middle! We also found the apartment noisy as it is above the main road through the town and shutting the balcony doors wasn't easy as it was very hot in the apartment!!

  • "Apartment 18 is an excellent property."

We love this property, so Ideally positioned in a convenient part of Torquay with short a level walk to the town. The apartment is well equipped and the balcony overlooking the sea is amazing. The view is ever changing and the secured parking is a bonus. A couple of things which could do with improvement the taps in the en-suite need repairing, instructions for the appliances etc and the Wi-Fi password needs to be clearly printed out. But nothing which detracts from this property. We will definitely book Apartment 18 again. Thank you.

  • "Perfect location."

Loved the apartment. Very spacious & clean. Minor niggles include ensuite shower control difficult to turn on/off. Also light in bathroom keeps flickering. Would have appreciated instructions for equipment & wifi codes though telephone call quickly resolved wifi problem. Definitely want to stay again.

  • "Lovely place, fantastic views, we would definitely stay in that building complex again but sadly not in that apartment."

Firstly, absolutely no information provided, had to work out the wi-fi code ourselves, luckily my husband is good at tech. The big issue, the couches, were rock hard so we did not have as comfortable a time as we expected, if they were changed for something softer, we’d be back like a shot. Overall a great apartment spoilt by uncomfortable seating.

  • "Lovely apartment, could benefit with information for wifi code, appliances, re-cycling, bedding/towels instructions on vacation etc."

Shower knobs were very hard to operate and I had to sweep up some of the dust from the perimeter of the floors. The bedding in the second bedroom (bottom fitted sheet) was too small and was constantly coming away from the matress, this sheet was also put on inside out. In need of a mirror near a plug socket for hair drying/styling. Great location.
