  • "Excellent cottage, clean, everything working & in good condition."

We felt very comfortable there for our holiday. Even on our one very wet day we occupied ourselves with the books, games & a jigsaw ( there was a good choice of everything). Parking at the front of the cottage was fine and close to the entrance door. veiws of the sheep with their lambs, and the countryside from the windows were beautiful. Our only concern was the location, theoretically ideal for access to the south coast, Dartmouth, Plymouth & Totnes areas, but rather alarming to an unconfident driver. The very narrow country lanes, off in every direction from the cottage, meant quite a few miles travelled before any wider road was reached. Hence we restricted travelling to & from the cottage to once a day, ensured we were back before it went dark & were grateful we only had a small car..The owner was very kind, she left us wine, crisps, milk & teabags to start us off & some freshly laid eggs to take home, which were delicious.

Thank you for your lovely comments and I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. We are centrally located in the South Hams and I find that it takes me around twenty minutes to get to Salcombe, Dartmouth and Totnes and around ten minutes to Kingsbridge. Devon lanes are well known for being narrow and the hedgerows look very beautiful in the Spring, although some can be challenging if the driver is not used to them. The main routes around us though are not too bad (in my opinion). But there are some very narrow lanes nearby that I would not recommend to visitors. In the notes I leave for guests I offer to give directions to places, and in doing so I would avoid sending you down the very narrow lanes. Sat Navs are notorious for sending people the quickest way, which might not be the best way for less confident drivers. Such a shame that you didn't ask me to recommend any routes. Nevertheless I am really glad that you had a lovely week. Property Owner

  • "Hello, We really enjoyed staying in your little holiday cottage which is well equipped."

Our only comment is that it would be worth putting an extract fan in the external wall at the end of the kitchen units for when the hob or oven are in use as its tends to fill up the living area with steam etc. All the best Matt

I'm so glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay, despite the terrible storm! We have looked at putting in some sort of extractor but to do so is not as straightforward as it might first appear. During your stay the weather was such that you did not eat out and cooked for four of you every evening and understandably did not open the windows. Usually the weather is kinder and the kitchen window can be opened. Despite that I am really glad that you had a good few days here. Property Owner

The owners were friendly and happy to offer advice, but otherwise left us to out own devices. A friendly welcome pack was on offer and the departing gift of "home grown" honey was delicious and much appreciated. The cottage itself was very clean and well equipped, and made a comfortable and cosy retreat for us. Highly recommended!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I am really pleased that you enjoyed your stay - and the honey from our bees! Property Owner

  • "We loved the cottage and the beautiful garden."

The host, Amanda, couldn't have been kinder or more welcoming. As an elederly couple, we would much prefer a bigger, higher fridge freezer than a dish washer. The fridge was very difficult for us to use due to it's low position.

So glad you enjoyed your week in the cottage and appreciated the garden. We had a chat with you about the fridge and explained the situation to you. It is an under counter fridge with a small freezer compartment, as shown in the photographs. The only place to put a tall fridge freezer in the kitchen area would mean that the dishwasher could not be accessed, and the advice from Helpful Holidays was that most people on holiday do like to have a dishwasher. Thank you for your comments, and if we could find space for a tall fridge we would put one in. Lovely to have met you, thank you for the gorgeous "Thank You" card and seeds and I hope you enjoy the Piccadilly Eggs and Honey I gave you. Hope to see you again! Property Owner

Thank you very much for your 100% score, delighted that you appreciated the hard work we put in to making our guests happy! Interesting that you felt it was "very comfortable for two people but not for four". The review before yours said the cottage was "perfect for our needs as a family of four". There were two in your party and you made use of both bedrooms which suited you. The is one double bedroom and a second bedroom that has either one or two single beds, by using the truckle bed that is stored under one bed on weeks when it is not needed. I think that the description and photographs accurately show the space in the cottage and the facilities. Thank you for the note you left, I am glad that you had a lovely stay with us. • "We cannot fault Little Piccadilly."

It was perfect for our needs as a family of four (with two children under 10.) We’ve often found holiday rentals to not really be as clean as we’d like but the owners here obviously take great care of the property and it was absolutely spotless! Kitchen well equipped, bed linen super fresh and clean. The owners also provided us with a lovely welcome pack taking the time to think about the children and popping an Easter egg in for them each, so thoughtful of them. Little Piccadilly was the perfect base for us, I would highly recommend this cottage. Just lovely! … and fresh eggs from the chickens too! A real treat.

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. We try hard to make sure our guests are comfortable and enjoy their stay and so we really appreciate your lovely comments. We'd love to welcome you back one day! Property Owner

  • "The owners are nice and helpful and the inside of the cottage attractive."

However not all is great - The vacuum cleaner had not been working properly and the cottage was incredibly dusty. The fridge is slim line, under counter and top third is freezer so the chilled volume is tiny. Wi-Fi is awful and mobile / 4G signals almost nothing. Be prepared for tiny Devon lanes in every direction. We didn't understand the heating and the folder had said not to touch the controls. We were often cold.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback following your stay at Little Piccadilly. The Owners are surprised to read your review since you had daily contact with them. The vacuum cleaner you mention is a spare for guests to use, not the one used for the changeover clean. When you explained that one of your party has allergies (having to hoover twice daily at home), they gave you a Dyson to use for the week, (which was gratefully accepted at the time). At the end of the stay, you explained that you had brought your own bedding, because of the allergy issue. Enhanced Covid-cleans are conducted at Little Piccadilly and this property had previously always had 100% reviews for cleanliness. Unfortunately, the weather was unusually cold during your stay. The information in the folder explains that the heating is on a timer and to ask if you needed it on more. You were asked if you were warm enough and it was explained how to put the heating on full time. It was therefore understood that you had done just that. You were also left an additional electric radiator to use if necessary. The fridge is an under-counter one as in the photos. It has always been sufficient for families staying, but maybe not big enough for the two Tesco deliveries that you had arranged. Little Piccadilly is situated in a rural area, the wi-fi signal is through BT, but this area does not have fibre optic cables yet. Mobile phone signal in rural areas varies, for example O2 has good coverage. The lanes in South Devon are narrow, but usually visitors are aware of that before coming. Property Owner

  • "Lovely location to explore the South Hams, maybe the central heating timer could be adjusted to allow for Autumn/ Winter temperatures."

As previous reviews have stated the lanes around the property are narrow, a small car and experienced driver needed

Thank you for your feedback and I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Little Piccadilly. The start of the week was unusually chilly for early October and in response to your query as to how the heating worked, we were in contact by text and popped round in person to check. You assured us that all was fine and you were warm. We are in a rural area but close to the sea and the lanes can be narrow, some see it as part of South Devon's charm! Our guests have driven a variety of sized cars and I hope that generally people driving do have some experience. Thank you so much for replacing the glasses you broke, much appreciated. • "Yes the cottage was wonderful even more than we expected, comfortable, convenient location, hosts great!"

We were so pleased with the cottage and CANNOT RECOMMEND LITTLE PICCADILLY ENOUGH Once again though we cannot highly recommend Little Piccadilly enough and wish the hosts all the very best for the future!

Thank you very much for taking the time to send us your feedback. We’re absolutely thrilled to know that you thought the cottage was wonderful and we’re really pleased you had a good holiday. We’re sorry to hear that you found our terms unfair though and sad you feel you can’t recommend us. The Covid-19 pandemic has been a challenging time for everyone, but I can confirm that every customer who wasn’t able to take their holiday due to the legislated lockdown was offered either a full refund or the ability to amend their dates. For those customers who had booked dates after the lockdown ended (such as yourself) we were able to amend dates with the agreement of the owner. We’re glad that things worked out, that you were able to have a great time and we hope you’ll be able to return in future. Property Owner

  • "The description of the property and surroundings did not mention that the location was a little isolated and entailed a half hours drive around narrow twisting lanes to get to Kingsbridge (nearest town)."

For that reason i do not think i would book this property again. However it was very clean and comfortable. also i was annoyed that we were charged an extra £195 as we had originally booked this holiday for April when the cost was lower. Your website did state that people would not be charged the extra amount if they had to defer the holiday dates due to the pandemic I appreciate these are difficult time but i did feel this was a bit unfair!

We thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you found the cottage to be clean and comfortable, we work hard to ensure that our standards are high. Little Piccadilly is in a small hamlet in the countryside, ten minutes from the coast as the description says. Kingsbridge is ten minutes drive, Salcombe and Dartmouth are both twenty minutes drive. The lanes in South Devon can be narrow but most direct route to Kingsbridge is only ten minutes. The owners are always happy to offer advice as well as directions if needed. Many guests this summer have commented on how convenient our location is for exploring the beautiful South Hams Property Owner
