  • "I have booked these apartments many times, and this is the third time I have booked one through Coast and Country."

This apartment No 7 is excellent for comfort and convenience. Parking right outside door, such a joy in Dartmouth. I suppose the days of booking privately are more or less gone, but I do miss the bottle of wine, chocolates or cookies and milk left by the owners. I am now used to the offering from the letting agencies so bring all necessary groceries with me. I know that there is a small supply of tea and coffee making facilities. The staff in the office in Dartmouth are lovely and the cleanliness of No 7 cannot be better, so all in all would recommend this apartment to anyone, and will definitely be back!

Clean and well-equipped. Ideal location to walk into Dartmouth, which is lovely, and to explore the surrounding area, where there is plenty to see and do. We would definitely recommend.

  • "Beautifully furnished apartment with superb views."

We loved our stay here and have already booked again for next year. Th only thing missing was the Nespresso coffee machine! we took our own! Not a complaint, just an observation. My Naval Architect Son, whom joined us for a couple of days, complained that we had not taken the small Nespresso cups. He was threatened with being charged £300 per night for his room, together with dinner at The Seahorse restaurant. He then promptly declared that the views were paradise, much to our amusement. Hence the write-up in the Guest Book.

  • "The apartment and view is fabulous, we have stayed here before."

However it is let down by very basic appliances in the kitchen and some basic things missing from the kitchen. However, the main reason I won’t be booking this property again is the mattress in the master bedroom. It’s like sleeping on wood, extremely firm. It woke me up in the night with such terrible back pain I had to move into the twin room which was slightly better. It’s a real shame but a good night sleep is a priority for me so I won’t be booking again unfortunately.

  • "I was a little concerned reading the last posted review regarding 7 Dart Marina."

As I was travelling with my 90 year old father, good lighting and heating were essential and these, along with easy access, were essential for a safe trip. Sykes staff were so helpful and reassuring at booking. This property did not disappoint in any way. It is in a fantastic location, easy parking with lift access, quality furnishings, warmth and light and views to die for. It is ideal for anyone with mobility challenges. One or two minor queries were dealt with easily at the local Coast and Country offices where the staff were more than helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this luxury apartment to anyone.

  • "We like No7 location and furnishings but there are an increasing number of problems with electrics, none of which every get resolved: bathroom floors not heating, no heating in the kitchen, poor lighting in the kitchen: under-cupboard lights not working and poor lighting on work-surfaces: ceiling lights cast shadow."

Curtains in main bedroom intermittent failure to close. We have never liked the impact of Sykes on Coast and Country. The Staff in Dartmouth are generally very pleasant and helpful but dealing with a remote call centre is a pain in the neck and the additional burden of dealing with it removes pleasure from the experience. The content of basics in Sykes accommodation (not just 7) is extremely poor compared to that found in AirBnB rentals that we have used. Towels are old and rough, and there is a totally inadequate supply of basic essentials: toilet rolls, dishwasher capsules, oven gloves (who cooks without them !?!), it's unbelievably stingy for the type of rental accommodation and the price.

  • "The view is amazing, takes your breath away & put a huge smile on our faces as soon as we walked in."

We spent hours watching the river & the higher ferry. The apartment was spotlessly clean, well laid out & furnished, perfect location for a short, flat walk into town, and the parking space right outside the building was much appreciated. We arrived very late on Friday evening, but key collection was easy from a lock box in town. Small improvements would be to provide oven trays in the kitchen & to consider a less firm mattress on the king size bed. We are already looking for when we can come back.

  • "We have stayed in this apartment before and thoroughly enjoyed both visits."

It is stunning - very roomy with amazing views. Everything major is excellent. Being very picky we thought that the wine glasses are poor. Wine always tastes better in good quality thin glasses - if we booked again, we would take our own, as well as our own corkscrew. Same applies to the mugs.

Would mention that the hinge on shower door in en-suite needs attention as it is extremely difficult to close once in the shower, resulting in water escaping on to step to bathroom floor creating a potential slip hazard, otherwise perfect, can’t wait to return!

Very comfortable and peaceful. Tips for Sykes Cottages: 1. Three dishwasher tablets for a weeks stay is ridiculous. When queried we were told “you are self catering, so we only provide a started pack”. We were provided with more when we asked for some. 2. The fridge door needs oiling. 3. The shower door in the en suite needs new hinges. We did ask for someone to look at it but it wasn’t much better after the repair. 4. You need to update your instructions for stripping beds etc as this is now not required, but the guide still tells you to do it.

  • "No.7, Dart Marina is a perfectly positioned, well maintained apartment with wonderful uninterrupted views across the River Dart."

The Kitchen is reasonably well stocked with cutlery and crockery. There’s a good sized integrated fridge freezer, useful washer/dryer, dishwasher and hob/oven. The large ‘mains-pressure’ hot water cylinder has the capacity to supply lots of hot water to enjoy the oversized baths. The central heating works well and the furnishings are thoughtfully deployed to create a relaxing, classy feeling. The highlight is surely the lounge with its full length bifold windows. Sitting at the dining table for breakfast with the river view is superb. Even on a dreary, overcast day of drizzle it’s a nice place to be - glance up as the Higher Ferry quietly traverses the river, the navy cadets are being trained in their little naval ships or a yacht sails past. We also had the pleasure of seeing the steam loco hauled ‘train of lights’ just before New Year on the far bank of the river. The technology was easy for us to use - wifi, smart TV or built in sound system with Bluetooth connectivity to our own iPad music library (although we noted that the speakers / control units in the ensuite and kitchen do not function, the latter being mentioned in the information pack). Beds were comfortable and the fluffy white towels were of a luxury hotel standard. The apartment is a relatively short and pleasant walk from the town centre, unbelievably quiet given its central location and comes with a precious allocated car parking space right outside. Main entrance is spotless as is the lift, making access with luggage so easy. It’s clear from reading past guest reviews that earlier feedback has been noted and action taken in response to suggestions etc. So in the same constructive spirit then… the top, flat brushed stainless steel surface of the cooker hood needs to be cleaned after every guest leaves. With me being just under 6ft tall it’s obvious because it’s at about my eye level. If your cleaning team are a somewhat less tall then they may not be noticing the build up of dust and light grease. Otherwise though the apartment is spotless. We loved our eleven night stay and would return. It isn’t cheap but does deliver for the money - what price for an apartment that helps make the most of precious time with the family? Since these apartments are being sold for around £1m the weekly rental seems about right. To the owner and the team managing the apartment - thank you. An excellent example of what high quality holiday accommodation in the U.K. should offer in support of a wonderful break on the south Devon coast.

7 is my favourite. It is well supplied, well maintained and well looked after. Parking is immediately outside. The view is magical. There is a lift up to the front door. Lift takes normal width wheelchair. Doorways are wide. There are rugs on top of the wooden floor. Bedrooms have carpet. The en-suite shower has steps up into it as you will see in the photo online. The double bed is firm but comfortable. The single beds are soft and suit me fine. Good quality linen. Only downside is the price. My word is it expensive!

Top of the range equipment throughout - loved the sound system wired to every room; and at the same time really comfortable and with the easy access lift, and parking right outside, no problems for infirm guests. Incredible views across the marina and watching the boats, the ferry and the steam engine were all very soothing - a great tonic for destressing.

  • "Amazing view from this first floor flat."

Well appointed and roomy - lovely big sofa. Car parking space right outside the door. The large king size bed is firm but comfortable. The twin beds have much more give but are still supportive - and are my favourites. There is a lift up to the flat, and all door ways are wide enough for a wheelchair. The satellite TV is a tad confusing, but there are instructions. This is my favourite apartment in Dart Marina - because of the view and also because of the decent beds. I cannot abide beds with solid bases and hard mattresses - it is such a false economy. Am hoping to return soon.

Excellent facilities within the apartment, good standard of decoration. One problem we did experience was when using the Swimming Pool within the complex - it was so busy we had to wait for an hour and a half before we could gain entry, and then when we were able to go in there were a lot of young children who were not being supervised sufficiently. We didn't bother trying to use the facility again during our stay.

  • "The apartment was very clean with well designed room layouts and lovely views."

However, for a 5 star rated property we would have expected there to be more in the way of crockery and cutlery in the kitchen eg the cereal bowls were plastic and were more suited to a picnic on the beach than a 5 star holiday home. Also, there were no decent knives - no bread knife etc.

It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.
